Dear Brain, Please stop making me remember negative events, and filter positive ones so they are no longer happy anymore. I'm getting really tired of your shit. Just let me have this. Let me enjoy life in the present. Please. Sincerely, - Brain
*banging my fists on a table* LET CASHIERS HAVE CHAIRS
Every time I see a cashier with a chair I’m like “I support this business”, no joke. That shit shows me that a company actually CARES about it’s employees. Quit making people stand on their feet for 8 hours straight that shit is torture.
Wtf? Seriously cashiers don’t have chairs in America? Why?
The short of it is you’re seen as lazy if you aren’t on your feet at what are considered unskilled labor jobs such as being a cashier. Can’t even lean against counters without being reprimanded. ‘If you’ve got time to lean, you’ve got time to clean’ goes the saying about it.
The extended explanation involves bullshit about chairs being a fire hazard which is easily remedied in many cases, and similar such arguments.

This incredible 95-year-old transwoman flight instructor found love late in life– only to be denied social security benefits by the government because she’s not cisgender
A beautiful interview with a woman who transitioned in 1976 shows how life for transgender people has changed over the years, although some terrible consequences remain the same.

serious question here: what's wrong with tony attwood?
Here’s a quote from Girls with Aspberger’s Syndrome: Early Diagnosis is Critical (written in 2012. That’s only 4 years ago!)
“Parents notice that their daughter may not identify or want to play cooperatively with her female peers. She may consider that the play of other girls is beneath her—boring and inexplicable—and prefer to play alone so that she can do things her own way. Her interests can be different from those of other girls, not necessarily of focus but of intensity and quality. There may be a determination to organize toys rather than share them and not play with toys in conventional ways. For example, she may collect over 50 Barbie dolls yet choose not to enact with her neighborhood friends “Barbie getting married” but instead arrange the dolls in particular configurations. She may even use her dolls to re-enact scenes from school to try to decipher the codes of social conduct experienced during the day. She may prefer nongender specific toys such as Lego or playing with toys associated with boys, such as construction sets and vehicles.
The girl with AS may not be interested in the latest craze for girls her age to be cool and popular. She may also be averse to the concept of femininity, choosing not to wear the latest fashions, fancy or frilly clothing, or clothing with bright colors or complex patterns. Her preference may be for practical, comfortable clothes with many pockets.”
Okay, just because my daughter likes to play with Legos and cars, it means there’s something WRONG WITH HER?! Just because she likes practical clothing and not ‘the latest fashions and frilly clothing” (WITH POCKETS!) there’s a problem?!
Seriously. I have a problem with that. My daughter has varied interests that cross gender lines. That doesn’t necessarily mean she automatically has AS or needs therapy! O.O
And:
“While boys with AS may fixate on facts (and some girls with AS can also have an encyclopedic knowledge of specific topics), many girls have an intense interest in reading (and some are hyperlexic, exhibiting a precocious ability to read). They may develop an amazing vocabulary and escape into fiction, enjoy a fantasy world, talk to imaginary friends, and write fiction at an early age. “
In that, case, all the females I know need therapy! >.<
I don't think he is suggesting that any of these individuals, whether autistic or not, need therapy.
Instead, he is highlighting the common patterns among AS individuals and how they may be different than neurotypicals. That is not to say that neurotypical individuals cannot engage in things differently than what is more typical of their gender. All he is stating is that those are more common signs spotted with autistic individuals than neurotypicals. It is descriptive rather than a value judgment of these individuals.
For example, I'm female with AS and I can see myself in what he has described, but I also know neurotypical women that were tomboyish too. How I was tomboyish was different than most tomboys because I was more focused on interests than the social aspect. Diagnosis can be important because it gives insight and tools for the AS individual to navigate in a world where the majority of people have differences from them. Sometimes this might require therapy to develop coping mechanisms, but many neurotypicals need therapy too, and it's not an indication that something is wrong with the individual.
These are generalisations that are meant to be taken with a grain of salt. We are all unique individuals, but AS can wire our brains a bit differently and show behaviors or actions that can be observed by professionals. It's a difference and not a value judgment about the quality of that person. Hope that helps.
Sometimes people try to destroy you, precisely because they recognize your power — not because they don’t see it, but because they see it and they don’t want it to exist.

i don’t know how anyone could possibly risk plagiarising on purpose like i am so god damn terrified of accidental plagiarism that every time i submit something on turnitin i can literally feel my individual arm hairs standing on end as i wait for the police to show up at my door and arrest me for writing a string of words too similar to some paper about the mating habits of hoot owls from 1965
Your life will get better when you realize it’s better to be alone than to chase people who don’t really care about you.

The fact that there are practically zero resources for disabled children/people but countless for their parents and caregivers further proves the ableism in our society.
Sort of agree, except even autistic children have considerably more resources available to them than autistic adults. It is as though they forgot these autistic kids grow up and have to learn how to independently function, especially if they do not require a caretaker.
How I know I'm too old:
Instagram seems a tad silly to me, albeit understandable. Vine is repetitive and mostly annoying, although sometimes hilarious. However, Snapchat is completely unfathomable to me. Why waste time taking pictures people are only going to see for 10 seconds, or a day? Even businesses are starting to get Snapchat accounts.
I get the ephemerality of existence, but I’d rather keep a record of my efforts, artistically or otherwise. Seems like something suiting nude pics more than anything else.
