from the netflixgames ig account. this isn’t the only interesting thing about this video, but it IS the only time clips fade into each other such that they overlap like this. so i find it interesting that the dial (!) turns to 90 (1990?) while overlapping a st clip. it also turns noticeably slower at the interval from 89-90.

another interesting thing:

there were multiple stranger things clips but this was not exclusively stranger things. sadie was in it twice. once as max once as her fear street character, though it felt like a st scene. i’m pretty sure the new horror rpg with sadie is also in it. and maya hawke was in it but not as robin.

has anyone made a side-by-side comparison of the three “identical” upside down will scenes like the one from s1 e7, both VHS and regular, and the one from the start of season 5?

because i’ve noticed some differences but i wanna see them next to each other. in addition the obvious angle/lighting/coloring changes, will is missing his tiger (?) in the season 5 one and things look slightly to the right (or maybe the angle is just different but still). and dare i say color in comparison to s1 is giving technicolor aka henry.

okay hear me out… “the villain” here isn’t vecna, but brenner, whose whereabouts the entire season 5 and plan throughout the show were unknown (we sort of got some ideas of his goals but never a clear, concrete endgame).

this is from the season 5 novel description btw, but i think it’s the same for the actual show? i’m not 100% sure because i didn’t feel like checking lol but it seemed familiar.

also the novel for s5 is set to release october 13th for those curious. not sure if that ties into cokegate or anything.

okay but the duffers confessing that el was supposed to be an adult man originally makes me think that mike and el weren’t meant to be endgame because they already had the ending when they started writing it. byler was always meant to be.

also it makes the whole el dying =childhood magic even more wild because what an adult man was supposed to be symbolism for their childhood magic?

just started rewatching st1 and realized something that feels important. if anyone has made a more detailed post about this pls link it so i can read!

but in the opening dnd scene there is an army of troglodytes. the party is relieved at first because they think that’s all there is. once they think they’re relatively safe, the demogorgan arrives.

i’m pretty sure i’ve seen people discuss this scene in general in relation to conformitygate, but here is something interesting that i haven’t seen before:

troglodytes, the creatures the party feels comfortable defeating without difficulty, live in caves. like henry’s cave. they also stink, like all the references to foul smells we’ve seen throughout the st universe.

vecna is the troglodyte that the party defeated easily, and the demogorgan is the even bigger bad yet to come (maybe brenner/the lab).

new birthdaygate/alternate timelines clue:

i haven’t been on here in ages, so pls forgive me if someone else has already mentioned this.

i’ve been looking through the tudum files and they got max’s age wrong.

on her permanent record card (shown above) it says her grad year is 1990 and her birthday is 4/10/1972. this doesn’t add up with the timeline we see in the show or max’s novel (*i do give a little less weight to the novel even though it is canon since it wasn’t written by the duffers but still). according to the novel she turned 13 in july 1984, making her birthday july x, 1971, which adds up with them going into 8th grade that year. however, if will was 11 when he was taken like joyce said in s5, and we shifted the entire timeline by a year, then max’s changed age in the files fits ‼️

the last paragraph felt very cg coded to me. the bit about a committee of “specialists in different fields” reminds me of tiktok cgers’ (shoutout kelly) videos on how each person in the cg community has some specific skill to contribute. then the part about explaining “complicated sightings” reminds me of murray’s whole “water it down” spiel.

but these are all screenshots from the glitches throughout the clip, then the beginning and end shots of finn watching himself. notice the person in the bottom left disappears in the second pic, and finn in the top right disappears in the third. the looping for the close up shots of finn is easier to tell with the actual video ofc, but the pics are pretty identical and give you an idea. one is from the beginning and the other is from the end.
