A comprehensible list of incomprehensible cast interviews (and then some)
Here are some moments from the cast that have not left my brain since the "end" of season 5, I'm sure there's a lot more out there, but this is what I've come up with (including stuff from the stranger things event in paris)
Gaten and Noah mocking Mike and El/Jane's romantic relationship
if the climax of the entire season relies on this apparent romantic pairing (purple rain), why mock it?
Millie saying her favourite Mike and El/Jane moment is the moment in season 4 where El confronts Mike for not being able to say that he loves her
again, if they are meant to be the emotional climax of the season because of their 'romantic' bond, why not only bring this back up, but claim it as your favourite moment between the two of the entire series?
Ross potentially having a 'shared looks' tattoo (or a dice) - what's confirmed is that it was considered amongst the cast as a potential matching tattoo
the phrase shared looks is HEAVILY, if not solely, used as a cue for Finn and Noah as Mike and Will during filming. If you were going to destroy their relationship (in my view, the end does not do justice to their romantic or platonic relationship), why even consider getting this tattooed?
Shawn Levy's weird phrasing: "the final version of the final episode of the final season stranger things"
okay.....we get it it's final...what are we saying here? (also he doesn't say the number of the season, being 5, and says final instead)
The Duffers talking about how they wanted to play with the idea of being stuck in the mind of a serial killer, of having a very clean and happy looking ending but there is something eerie about this
this then proceeded to have zero payoff...right?
Finn saying: "we go back and change things, we rewrite history"
VERY specific phrasing here Finn, what does he mean here if this is all we're getting? (i'll come back to this again later)
Noah praising the Duffers in his award acceptance speech: "a special thank you to the Duffers for having the courage to tell these stories unapologetically"
if the writers (the Duffers were not the only one in the writers room) decided to queerbait, why would Noah go on stage and go out of his way to praise the Duffers?
Noah saying he mapped the beginning out to the ending of the season in order to understand what his character was going through at the different points they were filming
if there was no script for the finale (according to the documentary), how was he able to do this?
the Duffers saying the writers wrote seasons 4 and 5 together along with the first shadow
again I return to the documentary that claims there was no script for episode 8 (rarely addressed as the finale in the documentary as well) heading into filming the season, so why fake it for the documentary? if you want to blame Netflix, that wouldn't make any sense either because they said this on multiple occasions (and is being reported in a source like Variety). This means that Netflix has already been involved and is aware of how the story develops further (especially if they're going off their streaming site with tfs, Netflix wants money)
Noah saying that people who ship byler will be "hap- satisfied"
As a gay man himself, surely he would have phrased this differently to prepare the audience for something as bonkers as the "friends? no thanks. best friends!" scene...like you have to be joking
so let's now address the latest stranger things event where Noah said "I feel like I was robbed of a good romance"
you could say that his NDA expired and is therefore free to now talk about his opinion of how the show ended, but NDA's last at minimum a year (the stranger things one probably spanning longer considering tales of 85, the first shadow, and other apparent spin offs in the works), so how does Noah have the freedom to talk about stranger things like this? not to mention that he is now contradicting his award speech that i mentioned previously and he's contradicting his 'hap- satisfied' moment. nothing adds up
it only adds up if you pay attention to how Noah says "I was robbed of a good romance" "I" here is Noah but he's talking about Will, conflating the two together, which isn't the first time a cast member has done this
for a lot of the documentary, Jamie addresses himself as Vecna in the first person. he even does it in the YouTube video showing the stranger things season 5 sets. all the actors did it in the 'take a break with jake' clips.
my latest favourite addition is David Harbour at the same stranger things event talking about his favourite scene to film in season 5: "unfortunately it's with an actor that I hate" that being Finn
obviously, he's joking, but funny he brings up hating Finn like how Hopper hates Mike. even funnier is the scene he's talking about, which is the one where Hopper encourages Mike to accept his fate - shitty door two (to me, this feels like a wink at cg/lwg)
the take a way, from a cg/lwg perspective is that the actors are the characters and the characters are the actors because Vecna has merged our worlds - the only way any of this makes sense
Finn's "we go back and we rewrite history" hasn't come to fruition yet, but do you know what takes place earlier in stranger things history? tales of 85
considering tales of 85 releases late April and the scripts and full series box set releases mid/late July, I truly do think tales of 85 is the beginning of the bigger picture leading to the last piece of the puzzle to make all of these confusing interviews make sense (Tales into tfs into the real final season of stranger things is what I'm guessing)
some encouragement for people who have been feeling bleak in the tag!
