Everything that Hinata’s confession contains applies to how Sasuke feels about Naruto too

“I was always chasing you, wanting to overtake you”

- sasuke’s always admired Naruto, wanted to be like him

“I just wanted to walk with you. I wanted to be with you”

- Naruto’s existence made him happy and he wanted to be friends with naruto since he was a little kid 

“You changed me.”

- Naruto changes Sasuke’s heart in the beginning until orochimaru separates them 

- and then naruto finally changing sasukes heart fully again at the end when sasuke admits hes wrong 

“So I’m not afraid to die protecting you”

-Sasuke protects naruto countless times in the series and let’s not forget the infamous Haku fight incident 

The big difference is that its always been mutual from Naruto’s end as well and not suddenly retconned at the end 

from the beginning
