For those who once again blame Cristiano (and only him)
Cristiano’s last 2 months:
July 10: Payet intentionally injures Cristiano in the EURO 2016 final
Cristiano is out for 2 months with knee injury –> no training, no preseason matches, working hard with medical team for his recovery
September 10: Plays 60 min. vs. Osasuna and scores the opening goal
September 14: Plays full 90 min. in the Champions League vs Sporting Lisbon and scores the crucial 1-1
September 18: Cristiano can’t play vs Espanyol due to flu
September 21: Cristiano is back vs Villareal, plays 90 min., no goal
September 24: Cristiano plays 70 min. vs. Las Plamas, no goal
So since the EURO 2016 final - 2 ½ months - Cristiano only played 2 full matches, 2 others for 60-70 min. and missed another due to illness.
And that makes people and media scream ‘Kick him out’. ‘He’s declining’ ‘Don’t renew his contract’, ‘He doesn’t deserve the Ballon D’Or’ …
Considering the timeline described above, how could he already be back to his usual form? In fact, since so many years he spoils us with his excellence and still he doesn’t get the respect and much less the affection he deserves. People and media expect him to function as the perfect goal scoring machine, otherwise they give him the cold shoulder. Even many Madridistas don’t protect him at all or at least show some empathy and understanding. But when he will be back scoring loads of goals, all of a sudden the very same people will praise him - until the next ‘crisis’.
Saddening. Sometimes I just want to protect him from the cruel world.
