honestly the mdzs donghua is so confusing, I had watched the untamed AND read the novel and I was still lost

It's so misleading too cause you watch the first few episodes like "I got this, this is way easier than the live action"

And then it starts condensing. It starts condensing like crazy

I honestly feel this way about MDZS and TGCF like...genuinely it's a good thing I was so sold on the romance 'cause it took me like 3 watches and a fuckton of googling to understand what the hell was going on. Granted, this made me want to read the books (working on it), but it's also making me realize that rec'ing these donghua to people comes with a MAJOR asterisk of 'the romance is great but this requires some dedication to get the whole story.'

And I'm not saying it's bad...mdzs I feel like could have done a better job showing the behind the scenes shit that goes on, and a couple of the changes that I'm aware of from the books made things more confusing, but it's still a great show. TGCF at this point tho....listen, from what I've gathered, once they go far enough in the donghua and you're able to get more flashbacks and explanations, it WILL work...but as it stands there are so many unknowns it's complicated as fuck.

Both are entirely worth it, but are also a bit of work in my opinion.

I absolutely LOVE the mystery element in TGCF, that was one of the biggest draws for me from the first season

But oh my god, the more they start alluding to stuff and slowly revealing things in the show, the more confused I get cause holy crap the lore

(which is one reason why I shall be reading the book- the other being that it seems like the show is now stuck behind a censorship wall)

earnestly trying to get into mdzs because tgcf is so sooo dear to me but i've been dealt psychic damage from trying to grasp all the information from the donghua, figured the novels/the untamed would be rougher to start from and still couldn't tell who's who from your videos but i'll keep trying through them cause #girlpower, the immaculate vibes should be enough (hashtag who is everyone's uncle
