Does it seem like I’m getting touchy and defensive? Huh, I think I need to brush up on my skills of not caring then. And why do you think I have something against you? I’m like this to everyone, you’re not any different.
Look we barely talk and that's why I don't know you well. I guess I just didn't expect you to be like this normally since I don't know you. Sorry I judged you and I swear I don't perceive myself as some sort of exception.
{Arrives at Amelia's Dorm}
Andre made sure to arrive at her dorm 5 minutes before the clock read 6:30 pm. He held a bouquet of flowers in his hand. It was strange enough that he was going to be attending the ball, but he knew his company would be great and Andre was looking forwards to that.
He knocked on the door politely awaiting for his date to answer.
Nervous but ready for the ball, Amelia was applying her lipgloss right when there was a knock on the door. She took a deep breath, checking her appearance in the mirror quickly before walking up to the door and opening it to reveal a very dapper looking Andre. "Andre," she smiled "You look great," she commented with a polite nod of her head.

She almost felt judged as Amy raised her eyebrows. She wasn’t judging her as well, was she? First Alex, then the rest of the campus and now her friend. Flirting was just Mia’s way of having fun, the same way Lara plays video games or Amy takes photos, along with writing, flirting was Mia’s way of saying ‘screw you’ to the world, essentially. “I know you aren’t but that’s because you haven’t tried it. Harmless flirting is what the title said: harmless.”
"How do you change a habit you’ve spent 17 years building up? The only people who I let in are you and Lara, no one else. Would I like to date Alex? Hell yes, he’s basically my dream guy but…what if he isn’t? I’m good at one night stands Amy, it’s what I do: love them and leave them but dating? The constant pressure of having a standard to live up; I’d always be living in fear that I wouldn’t be good enough for him and that he’d leave me."
Amelia sighed helplessly, "Look... I just... I.. I'm sorry," she could sense Mia was a bit hurt. "I just don't think you should be giving Alex the wrong idea if you really like him," she admitted. "Flirting isn't something that lots of people appreciate, I mean.. imagine Alex was flirting with a bunch of other girls, would you like that?" Amelia was big on the whole 'treat others the way you want to be treated'. She always felt bad about hurting other people's feelings, and she often passed on her knowledge of that subject to others. "I don't know," Amelia replied honestly, her shoulders hunching over slightly. "You never know if you don't try, Mia. I know it's hard but if you don't work for it. If you don't think Alex is worth you changing your old habits, then don't. I can't change you Mia, even if I tried," Amelia sighed, opening the box of pizza; the fresh smell wafting through the air.
An evening out || Andre & Amelia
He couldn’t help the smile on his face when she agreed for the time for him to pick her up. He probably was thinking too much into it but he’s never felt nervous before. He was beginning to feel alot of things that wouldn’t normally rise to the surface. “Can’t wait.” he said with a light chuckle. He wouldn’t really care of the color of her dress, just being able to see her, that was what he was looking forward to.
Andre could see the expression of protest on her features, he just didn’t think that anyone should walk alone at night, especially woman. There were so many people out there that took advantage, he wasn’t going to let something like that happen. He walked up to open the door for her as they now were headed back to the dorm. “I’m glad that we did this.” Andre said giving her a smile “I don’t usually go out, and today made me think I should do this more often.”
"Neither can I," Amelia smiled, noticing new emotions spreading across Andre's face. She wondered how the party would be. She never really went to those type of things so she had no idea what to expect. When Andre said that he was happy with the date and that he wanted to do this more often, Amelia couldn't help but feel extremely happy. "You.. you enjoyed yourself?" she looked up at him with hopeful eyes. "I'm really glad. I did too," she added, following him out of the bakery.
I’d use the word content. And honey, drop the attitude. It doesn’t work well with your gullible personality.

Great, can’t wait to see you there. Wraps her jacket closer together and glanced around the park. She noticed that there was barely anyone else in the park meaning that class has already started. You going with your best friend?
Well, I'll see Mia there for sure. But um, I was actually asked to go to the dance by someone.

"Why not?" Mia asked, "It’s just a bit of fun." Flirting with random boys was what Mia did best along with writing and, well, she hadn’t been writing lately so it looked like flirting was her forte.
Mia smiled and leaned into her friends arms. She hated feeling sorry for herself but right seemed like a good moment to do such. Hugging Amy felt nice, it almost felt like things were okay. Hugs did that to her, made her emotional. Pulling away, Mia smiled weakly. “Of course I do I just don’t know what I’d say. I do one night stands not…dating.”
Amelia arched her eyebrows upwards, "You know I'm not a fan of your flirting, Mia," she said sternly. It wasn't good for Mia to go back into her old habits right when she was still trying to figure something out with Alex. When the two friends hugged, Amelia realized how much she missed hugging Mia. "Well maybe it's time for a change," Amelia said comfortingly. There wasn't even a hint of judgement in her tone, because she wasn't judging her friend at all. Sure, she wasn't proud of what her friend did sometimes, but she wasn't going to be judgmental either.

[Alex slowly shut his book in between his index finger, as he tugged on the strap of his messenger bag, walking over to Amelia’s bench across. He smiled, gesturing another awkward wave, as he sat beside her but obviously not too close.] You okay?
[Amelia watched in silence as Alex shut his book, grabbed his bag and walked over to her bench. She stuffed her iPod into her pocket and smiled at his awkward wave. He sat down beside her and asked her a question. She looked up at him.] Yeah, I'm alright. And you?

Jumping off her the bed and running to the door, Mia payed the pizza guy and added a bit of flirting because, well, why the hell not? The guy complimented both the girls and promptly left, his number in Mia’s hand. “What?” Mia asked, looking at her friend. “Harmless flirting is good for the soul, Amy dear.” She laughed, carrying the pizza back to the bed.
She shrugged in an attempt to show Amy she wasn’t bothered by it when she was. “He said some things which didn’t work with me and I left. We argued and he stormed off in a fuss, we haven’t seen each other since.” Suddenly, all the feelings Mia had kept repressed since that date came flooding back. Watching him walk away had been hard for her, harder than she’d care to admit.
Amelia watched Mia flirt with the pizza guy. She rolled her eyes, but secretly couldn't help but think about desperate it made Mia look. "Harmless? I don't know if that was a good idea," Amelia murmured honestly. She would always shrug her best friend's behavior off, but it wasn't something that she should do. She needed to learn to talk about these things. "I'm sorry Mia," was all Amelia could say in that moment. She scooted closer to Mia and offered to hug her. Amelia was terrible when it came to relationships. She had never really been in one, so whenever someone had issues all she could do was offer hugs and say that everything was going to be okay, even if it wasn't. Amelia took a deep breath, "Do you want to see him again? Do you want to talk it over with him?"

Mia waved her hand dismissively, smiling, “go ahead.” Mia twisted her hands wondering where to start. “Are you sure?” Mia asked, “Okay well Alex asked me out on a date just before Christmas, I went and it was okay. Then he said some things, nice things, I freaked out and ran away. We haven’t spoken since.”
Amelia nodded and pressed the space bar, the episode playing once more. That's when Amelia heard a knock on the door. She pressed the space bar and got up, "I'll get that," she said as she approached the door and opened it to revealed the pizza guy. "Pizza's here," Amelia called out to Mia over her shoulder. Mia had offered to pay after all. "You just ran away?" Amelia gasped, looking at her best friend closely, "Oh my gosh.. I'm so sorry..." she said, wondering about how Mia must feel. "Why did you? Run away, I mean," Amelia asked, worried about her friend and what went through her mind during the date.

"Well there’s blue." he said with a smile "Red, green, violet." he smiled, but the more he looked into her eyes, he wondered if she’d wear a dress that highlights that color. "I believe it starts around 7" he paused "Would you like for me to arrive at 6:30?" he said waiting for her to reply. He honestly believes that any color would look lovely on her. She really didn’t need to do much to impress him.
He noticed that it was getting late outside, he didn’t want her walking back to the school alone. Again he reached out his hand to help her stand. “Would you like for me to walk you home?” he wasn’t going to assume she’d say yes,he thought he’d ask first. He enjoyed their date and a part of him wanted to spend more time with her, but the weather outside was saying otherwise. Perhaps for another day. He smiled at the thought of that.
"So many choices," Amelia smiled, "But I'll see what I can find." She glanced out the window and saw that the world outside was getting dark. "That sounds perfect," she smiled, "6:30 it is." After she answered she thought about what type and color of dress she'd wear to the party. She didn't want to make a bad impression especially when she was going to be Andre's date. Amelia was about to make excuses about how he shouldn't go out of his way to be polite to her and how she could get back by herself but instead she held her tongue. "I'd love to," she replied to Andre. Because of his offer, Amelia realized how long Andre and her had been out. She wondered if they would ever meet up and spend time together again, not counting the New Years Party of course.
