Late or Fashionably late

“Yeah I’m pretty lucky that I don’t have to deal with that mess.” Lyle replied. As obsessive his parents were they luckily stopped fussing over how he dressed for parties when he was younger. It was probably because he usually wore what they told him to wear with zero fuss. “But I probably will be hearing about me showing up to this party late till the day I die, still beats getting paraded around though.” The slytherin added, ever since he became headboy it seemed like his parents sought out attention more than usual, which only caused Lyle’s own hatred for parties to grow.
Lucky indeed. Shea got a double dose of doting because she was a girl and the youngest of her siblings. Lyle was fortunate enough to have escaped those particular circumstances. Shea had a sudden urge to go find something to steal or break. Remembering the injustices of the patriarchy tended to do that. And, well, there was nothing stopping her. “Say Lyle,” Shea looked at her fellow Slytherin with a bit of a wicked grin, “you wouldn’t want to put off facing your parents a little longer, would you?”
Lyle did not know where Shea was going with what she asked, so for a second he debated in his head. His parents would probably want to see him actually at this party, but that would probably cause him to get wrapped up into some conversation they were having with the other adults. “Honestly the longer I stay away from them the better, besides they look preoccupied.”
