Zelij is a mosaic tilework made from individually chiseled geometric tiles set into a plaster base. This form of Islamic art is one of the main characteristics of North african architecture. It consists of geometrically patterned mosaics, used to ornament walls, ceilings, fountains, floors, pools and tables.

Forgiveness in Islam
From the tafsīr of ʿAbdullah Yūsuf ʿAlī, his commentary on āyah 2:109:
“Three words are used in the Qur’ān, with a meaning akin to “forgive”, but each with a different shade of meaning. ʿAfā (here translated “forgive”) means to forget, to obliterate from one’s mind. Ṣafaḥa (here translated “overlook”) means to turn away from, to ignore, to treat a matter as if it did not affect one. Ghafara (which does not occur in this verse) means to cover up something as Allah does to our sins with his grace: this word is particularly appropriate in Allah’s attribute to Ghaffār, the One who forgives again and again.”

Thee alone do we worship; and unto Thee alone do we turn for aid. Guide us the straight way. The way of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed Thy blessings, not of those who have been condemned [by Thee], nor of those who go astray!
