Warlock making any decision: (thinks of his gardener) Be gay... (thinks of his nanny) Do crime.
i havent seen good omens yet so for a solid 30 seconds i tried to figure out in what DnD lore a nanny was involved
i mean what is a warlock's patron but a magical eldritch nanny
I really have to explain why making ableist jokes is not okay huh
What are “ableist jokes”
I’m not kidding I really don’t know
things like saying “REE” or “autistic screeching” or you know making fun of disabled or neurodivergent people. Or using disabled or autistic as an insult, etc
also, but not limited to:
asking people jokingly (or even seriously) if they’re autistic when they’re being obtuse, ignorant, or annoying
calling someone “a bit downsy in the face” as if that has ever been funny
mocking people with abnormal movement/ mobility, nervous ticks, or stim behaviour for comedic value (yes, a lot of impressions and caricatures are ableist)
asking if someone “needs a wheelchair, haha” when they discuss their chronic pain or their mobility issues (i have a close friend that tries to joke about wheelchairs and walkers with me and i never know how to shut it down. i need a cane some days but i make sure she never sees it because she thinks mobility devices are a joke)
jokes about how people who use elevators are lazy
grabbing someone’s mobility device for physical comedy purposes
mocking deaf accents, or repeating things someone says with a stutter to make fun of them
pretending to be deaf or hard of hearing to get a rise out of another hearing person.
jokes about how you wish you were disabled so you could “get special treatment too”
jokes about people being mentally ill whenever they exhibit a social behaviour that you find annoying/ parse as antisocial
any joke about how disabled people are “whining too much” eg: all the “back in my day…” kind of jokes about how accessibility isn’t necessary and disabled people are making a big deal out of nothing.
joking about infomercials, many of which are for products that mostly help people with mobility issues live independently. none of those products are “for lazy people” and the people in the before clips who spill food or can’t get their socks on etc are supposed to represent people with mobility concerns
Saying things like “jeez man stop spazzing out,” calling people who are in distress “spastic.”
jokes about elderly people being “high maintenance” and hard to care for/ relate to.
jokes about disabled people being “perpetual children” and mocking or joking about children and child-likeness as if it’s a deficit in general.
remember that a lot of ageism has strong crossovers with ableism in general. ageism is bad in and of itself but it can be particularly harmful in many ways. (it also often strongly connects/ converges with misogyny and racism too)
adult diaper jokes.
Comments about getting special treatment are always hilarious to me because.. you know it’s not special treatment, deep down. You know that it would be special treatment if you were getting it, but you don’t need it. For someone like me, it’s just fair treatment. It’s access to what everyone else already has.
Twenty years ago, I hung out with people who insisted that if they couldn’t make ableist jokes about abled folks, what was the point of making jokes, except we didn’t use the terms Abled as it wasn’t widespread, it was “normal people” - I, with multiple disabilities like cerebral palsy, was used as an excuse. If I let them use those jokes around me, it meant I really loved them. And then I finally figured out how to tell everyone to fuck off, though it took about fifteen years and a ton of help from disability advocates on Facebook.

cheap & useful book bundles!!
hey, in case you hadn’t heard, Humble Bundle has some really fantastic pay-what-you-want book, videogame & software bundles on right now!!
Keep Books Weird – a bizarre collection of around thirty books all about different things (like a book about lockpicking, a book about how fucked up the CIA actually is, a book examining juggalo culture, bizarrely) but with an emphasis on mental-health self help, like “Unfuck Your Brain” and “This is Your Brain on Depression” and stuff about dealing with depression, anxiety, making your space your own, etc! (available til 2019-09-04)
The Beat Goes On – a bundle of music making & editing software that would normally cost nearly $750 separately being sold for $25 (and varying other, smaller costs depending on how much stuff you want!) with software like ElectroTrap, Sound Forge Pro 12, Acid Pro 8 and much more. if you’re interested in learning how to make music, especially electronically, this is an amazing resource!!! (available til 2019-09-04)
Python Programming – over a dozen how-to guides on how to learn how to program in Python, and what you can do with it, including a couple kid friendly guides (if you wanna gift these to a younger sibling/kid or, like me, are just a really stupid adult), more than a couple about how to make your own videogames (!!!!!) and two straight up about how to become a hacker. like, straight up. (available til 2019-09-02)
IT Security – a collection of over twenty (!!!!) books about computer and internet security, how to be more secure, which is crucial as computer and electronic security becomes more and more important every day!!! this shit is, altogether, worth nearly $2000 but you can pick it up for between $15 or less (with one of the tiers being literally only $1) (available til 2019-09-16)
Space Operas & Science Fiction – would you believe it – thirty whole full length sci-fi novels, written by notable authors such as David Weber, Sarah A. Hoyt, Elizabeth Moon, Sharon Lee & Steve Miller!! absolutely indispensable for any sci-fi nerd!!! (available til 2019-09-11)
Spooky Horror 2019 Bundle – nearly $100 worth of spooky scary videogames for you to redeem on Steam, just in time for autumn, (the spookiest month of the year), for only $10 or less!!! including fantastic games like Darkwood, Pacify, and Inside!!
Humble Bundle also does a monthly videogame collection for $12/month, where you get around eight (or more) fantastic Steam titles that altogether would usually cost somewhere around $100 or more. past games given in this subscription include Surviving Mars, Moonlighter, CoD Black Ops 4, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Monster Prom, Yakuza 0, Tom Clancy’s the Division, Megaman Legacy Collection, Metal Gear Solid V, Cities Skylines, Hollow Knight, Overwatch, Destiny 2, Yooka-Laylee and many many many more; it’s a sincerely amazing investment
if you buy them from any of these links it’ll support me, your local disabled lesbian, but you’ll also be able to support the authors/developers & charity – it gives you a nifty little slider so you can choose exactly where 100% of your money goes
they pride themselves on being super supportive of partners like me, super supportive of indie devs/books, and being as transparent as absolutely possible; they’re seriously a fantastic company & resource for Cool Deals
spread this around!!
Don’t let the world fool you: consistent kindness is the most quietly powerful thing.
If you ever want to engage in villainy & undermine the social order: Be especially kind to the people society has rejected. Care about the ones the world would convince you don’t ‘deserve’ your kindness.
I genuinely mean this when I say to you: the ultimate act of rebellion is insisting on compassion and grace in a compassionless world.
Kindness is the most disruptive possible action, because it builds support systems and networks that aren’t under control.
what if we had a homoerotic summer romance filled with yearning and tenderness, and fell in love,,, haha just kidding,,,,unless?
"i was a transtrender" no you werent. you were just questioning your identity and then you decided that wasn't for you. that's a fucking healthy thing to do. fuck off lmao
Questioning is:
-healthy
-common
-normal
Questioning isn't:
-an excuse to be transphobic towards often young individuals

Thought: I do NOT think that 50% of the world’s billionaires should be women. I think there shouldn’t be any billionaires at all.
So you are saying 0% of the world should be billionaires?
Why shouldn’t their be billionaires? That makes no sense.
Because the existence of billionaires is predicated on the exploitation of human labor and unsustainable environmental harm. That level of wealth hoarding is harmful to economies, as it reduces the amount of money in circulation. No one person, no family, could ever conceivably even SPEND a billion dollars anyway, and it is inherently immoral to accumulate wealth so narrowly while so much of the world lives in abject poverty.
Better then to create a wealth ceiling, a point at which all wealth over a certain point is taxed at or very near 100% to incentivize people to actually spend their money rather than hoard it, stimulating the economy and bettering the lives of far more people. Better even still to create and regulate economic systems that protect workers and the environment in a way that such extreme levels of wealth accumulation aren’t even feasible.
The problem with this is that it reduces the incentive to actually do fiscally well. What’s the point of starting a business if you can’t become wealthy?
There is a very real difference between “reasonably wealthy” and A BILLIONAIRE
No one is saying you shouldn’t have a nice house, we are saying that having multiple really, really ridiculously nice houses while your employees are either homeless or at serious risk of becoming homeless is immoral.
I’ll never understand why this concept is hard for people. I think it’s because they can’t actually fathom how much $1 Billion is.
Seriously.
Let’s say you have a badass job. A great job. You make $100 AN HOUR. You work 10 hours a day ($1000 A DAY), 5 days a week ($5000 a week!!!), every week ($20,000 A MONTH), thats $240,000 Every Year.
It would take you 4,167 years to make a billion dollars.
Keep in mind then, that if you got paid $1000 an hour, 10 hours a day, five days a week, every week, all year, it would still take over 400 years to make a billion.
You want to make one billion in a human lifetime? If you made $10,000 an HOUR, 10 hours a day, 5 days a week, every week, all year, it would take you 41 years to hit a billion.
(And that’s not counting, ya know, money you spend to stay alive on food or rent or anything. )
Jeff Bezos currently has 140 billion dollars.
Hey! This Pride please don’t forget about Stormé DeLaverie a butch lesbian and drag king who was there at stonewall! Many witnesses said that her scuffle with the police was the defining moment that incited the riots, but regardless of whether or not she threw the first punch she’s an amazing woman and and should not be forgotten. She was also a woman of color and deserves just as much remembrance as Marsha P. Johnson and Slyvia Riveria and I so often see her left out. She passed away in 2014 at the age of 93 and was one of the earliest leaders of the gay rights movement! She was known as “the Rosa Parks of the gay community.” She also supported work for battered women and kids! Let’s all celebrate her!
I always get so fucking mad when I remember that it’s actually a 16-year-old Algerian girl who influenced BOTH Picasso and Matisse. and. No one gives a rat’s ass about her work which was very focused on women and nature. History -or people dare I say- didn’t bother to remember her name because she was a young Algerian woman and no one cares about Maghrebi/Arab women. unlike P*casso & M*tisse who both became legends, almost gods both during their lives and after their deaths, no one knows her.
Her name was Baya Mahieddine.
This is some good stuff 👌🏻
Her name is Baya Mahieddine
