Tell us the stories of people who stepped out of their comfort zone, called out unacceptable behavior, prevented a sexual assault, or played a major role in changing the culture at their school. As we honor and highlight these changemakers, others will be inspired to follow in their footsteps.

Since Title IX guidelines were introduced in 2011, we’ve seen more schools hire Title IX coordinators and begin to more effectively address sexual assault incidents on campuses. We cannot walk back this progress – we need to stand strong with survivors of sexual assault and make sure school administrations are held accountable for providing the support and protections ensured by Title IX. Happy Galentine’s Day! In our opinion, this is the purest of all made up holidays we observe on the internet, because it celebrates everything wonderful about female friendships. What better way to celebrate the incredible bonds between friends who feel more like family than with this story and illustration by Kyle Casey Chu and Rita Saponur, submitted to Look Different and It’s On Us (@its-on-us) to help depict what being a good bystander looks like.

Everyone has a role to play in stopping sexual assault. Whether you do something drastic or simple, helping a friend or an absolute stranger can make a big difference. Kyle and Rita show that being a good friend means being observant enough to know when you need to step dance in to help your girls when they need you most.

We’ve partnered with MTV’s Look Different (@lookdifferentmtv) and It’s On Us (@its-on-us) to draw attention to stories of those who stepped up and stopped a sexual assault. It’s called Bystander Intervention, and it’s the act of disrupting a situation before something bad turns worse.

We’re asking for help from the Tumblr community. If you have a story to share about your experience with Bystander Intervention, share it.  Not ready to share, or don’t have an example, but still want to participate? We’re also looking for people to make some art based on any of the already submitted stories collected by @its-on-us.
