Well, robotourney has run its course. Personally, I had a blast so thanks to everyone for that, I hope you guys had fun as well :)

When i started out i thought i might use this blog for a different tournament after the final round, but in the time between starting and finishing, pretty much every idea i had (vampires, clowns, mad scientist) has been done by somebody else, usually someone that actually knows how to use photoshop, too!

For now, i think im going to leave this tumblr alone, and maybe do a 64 bracket robotourney next year

So we're at the end and i gotta say god damn, I honestly thought Data had this match in the bag! and HAL 9000 was much closer to beating GLaDOS than i expected.

I've really enjoyed having this as a fun little thing to do on the side the past couple of weeks. Thank you all for joining in :)

The Semi-Finals Are Upon Us

Here's an EXTREMELY quick recap of the quarter finals:

Jenny Wakeman's winning streak was cut short by HAL.

GLaDOS beat Karen in the battle of the AI wives

While TEC defeated a handful of evil robots he was no match for the pure soul that is Data

Bender too, was unable to stop the Homestuck.

So now we have our semi final matches!

Thank You so much for everyone who nominated a bot for the tournament! In total I received an incredible 635 submissions which I'll be sorting through over the next couple of days.

Although the full line-up (which is planned to be 64 brackets) is yet to be determined, I can confirm the top 10 most requested robots (who therefore have a guaranteed place in the tournament) are as follows:

Over the next three days I'll be posting a series of qualifying polls to help narrow down the remaining 54 contestants.

Some of these will be themed (e.g. there are fandom-specific polls currently planned for Transformers, Five Nights at Freddy's, Fallout, Star Wars, Sonic the Hedgehog and Animal Crossing)

Other qualifying polls may consist of miscellaneous submissions that all received a similar number of votes but can't all be included. They may or may not be themed in an arbitrary way (e.g. fembots or cartoon robots)

Additionally, given that some robots on the list have multiple versions or designs (e.g. Mettaton, Zane and SHELLDON), I'll be doing some polls to determine which one to include in the competition graphics.
