Kashmiri Muslims suffered as much as Kashmiri Pundits did and still do. The civilians, my family members, dragged out of our houses in the wee hours and assembled in a vast ground, the merciless beating by the forces during the crackdowns was a routine back then. Hundreds of civilian's including women and children extra judicially executed by the security forces and killings concealed as fake encounters, killings by Militants, thatās something that a Kashmiri isn't gonna forget. The countless nights of no sleep because of the incessant firing, the staged gun battles, thatās something that the Kashmiris aren't gonna forget. Kashmiri Pundits were driven out of their homes, we were caged there. We faced terrorism from two sides, we were the victims too. From 1989, there have been more than 8,000 documented disappearances and 70,000 deaths of kashmiris. I've never seen a debate on the āKunan Poshpora incidentā on their channels till now, they never stood up against the genocides we faced during that period of time or created video ads, something they been doing recently, they all just moved on, no action was taken, no justice despite the fact that such a heinous crime which infected the civilians with dead silence yet loud mourning, where all the men of the village were interrogated and severely tortured, physically and emotionally to the extent of barbarism while the women of the village were raped irrespective of their age, at gun point, numbering anywhere between 53 to 100, by the very men who had been appointed by the central government to protect them and there are thousands of cases like these, human rights abuses in Kashmir have been covered up. This other side of the story, this dark past that no one gives damn about, is about mass killings too, its about forced disappearances, tortures, rapes and sexual abuses, all disregarded.
