Pip was simply reading a book, enjoying the scenery and such before Kyle came up to him. His words sounded like a repeat of what everyone else said, at this point. But he wasn’t one to not forgive though. Pip never really held grudges, if it wasn’t to obvious.

“There’s no need, dear. That’s all behind us.” he said, smiling at him. “But if it makes you feel better, you’re very forgiven.”

“Okay. Great. Thank you.” Ugh, this was awkward. But Kyle didn’t want to just leave after all that build up either. That would be kind of lame. Or would it be awkward to stick around after he’s said his peace? No, he’s overthinking it. But what does he have to talk about with Pip? “...So, what are you reading?” Internal fucking facepalm.

Oof. Here we go. This was a long overdue, Kyle felt. He just had to swallow down his pride and get it out there, even if it wasn’t so much of a matter of pride as it was...embarrassment. “Hey, Pip? You know, I really can’t justify how mean I was to you. I guess dumb kids have their shitty behavior, but that was pretty fucked up how I treated you. So I’m sorry.”

That would explain Kyle’s frequent visits to the zoo when they were younger, although Stan had gotten some silly idea about the elephant’s whereabouts when he was a child. Some kind of escape ala Madagascar and even going as far as the elephant being carted off in a wooden box. It was a silly and childish thing that even now he wasn’t ready to admit that he’d once gotten that idea to Kyle.

“I guess I forgot about him too. It’s been a while hasn’t it?”

It’s then that he gets a brilliant idea. “Hey. It’s not too late to see him now. Why don’t we go to the zoo?” The Denver Zoo wasn’t too far and he’s sure between the two of them they could cover gas money and the price of admission.

Leave it to Stan to offer the simple solution to a not-that-complicated problem. Kyle smiles fondly and nods. “Sure. I bet he’d be happy to have visitors that aren’t dumb kids--well, we were dumb kids, who tried to get him to, uh...Oh god, that might be considered animal abuse.” Looking back on it, Kyle could honestly admit to the fact that they were all little gremlins to that elephant. And the pig. But maybe karma neutralized when they tried to rescue baby cows? Hmm.

“...Yeah, let’s go. We could give him peanuts or something? Or hay, I guess.” Decision made, Kyle is up, grabbing his keys.

Of course, Kyle’s desk drawer was neat and organized, it’s why he found his extra phone charger quickly but something else catches Stan’s eye in there. A photo. The subject is something he had not seen since they were children. He ends up picking it up instead of the charger.

“Do you still visit your Elephant?”

Years of sharing everything with Stan means that Kyle doesn’t even look twice when Stan looks through his drawer. It’s cool. But he hasn’t thought about that elephant for a long time, that the mention confuses him at first. He leans over to take a look at what the hell Stan is talking about. “My elephant? Oh...”

“There was no way my mom was going to let me think that I could take care of an elephant, but she did let me continue to visit him at the zoo for a while...huh. I didn’t think I’d feel so bad about forgetting.”

He could have taken his books, walked away, kicked Cartman out of his study space, anything. But no, Cartman had all of his attention because Kyle couldn’t resist giving all of it to him. How sweet.

He snickered, following Kyle by only leaning closer when he tried to move away, “Oh, you’re definitely a bottom. You take it from me every day, you bite that pillow like a good, compliant Jew because you know your place in society.

If that’s how you like it, I don’t judge!” He laughed as if it were all a joke, as if he wasn’t actively judging as they spoke. “You must take it from Stan too every day, huh? How else would that dumb piece of shit pass his classes? You’re taking it from all your friends, aren’t you, Kahl?”

Once Kyle recognizes that he’s figuratively--probably literally--being backed into a corner, he plants his feet, and he glares right back at Cartman. He doesn’t fully understand this, but he doesn’t need to, because it’s all just antagonizing him for the sake of antagonizing him. Kyle wants to tell himself this, to save himself the agony of trying to walk in Eric Cartman’s shoes, avoiding anything at all that might involve empathizing with him. “That doesn’t even make sense! And it’s none of your business!” Kyle makes no effort to control his volume, very deliberately shouting in Cartman’s face. Unconsciously, but by force of habit, Kyle does so, throwing his guard up. It’s easier than speaking the truth. He doesn’t need Cartman assuming his sex life, or lack thereof. There’s no time to lament such things. “I don’t need to do anything for anybody, either! Stan can handle his own coursework, and I’m barely dealing with my own workload as it is. Something you definitely wouldn’t understand! You’d probably prostitute yourself before you ever had to do any actual work!”

If Kyle wasn’t already stunned at the sudden invasion of personal space, he might have had the nerve to blow up at Cartman. But he seethes quietly instead for a moment, as all his things are shoved aside. Don’t blow up. Don’t blow up. But he does allow himself to huff loudly. Grit his teeth. Gather his thoughts.

“…Don’t be a fucking dick. I don’t care if you’re bored. Maybe figuring out a plan for the future might occupy your time a bit better. Not shoving things up your ass, unless that’s really what you want to do.”

“You see, Kahl, this is why you’re boring, and I’m not. You’re busy doing this.. what did you say? Pla..planning? Is that even a word? Planning, for the future?” Cartman wanted oh so badly to see Kyle blow up. He craved seeing that face turn red, even just watching him forced to pay attention to him got Cartman all giddy. His eyes didn’t move from staring into the other’s.

“While I’m living in the now, having other people study for me. That is what makes me superior to you, you supply all of the answers, and I copy them down when you’re not looking.

It’s the natural circle of life, it’s okay to be on the bottom, it’s where your kind is meant to be. Working under me.” His lips curled into smile, hand coming up to pat Kyle’s cheek condescendingly.

“Oh my god.” Kyle says, exasperated, before he can stop himself. Now he misses the quiet of studying. Even with the stress, he could at least be stressed and alone, and his patience is rapidly wearing thin. Cartman probably knows that, but in his own fatigue, he can’t care right at this point. His jaw is visibly clenched now, and Kyle is only sort of aware of it. “That’s not how it works in the real world. Just what the hell do you--ugh! Knock it off!” Kyle bats Cartman’s hand away, with more force than what is probably necessary. There’s the nerve. He’s up and distancing himself from Cartman now, fueled by a mostly sleep-deprived, but definitely justified loss of patience.

“My kind?! I am not a bottom! Or of any kind that should be working under you, you piece of shit!”
