I’m gonna have my rant that no one asks for down below bc who can stop me?
Actually this is the first song of Nam that I really like. It is fresh, heartfelt, and unlike any of his previous love songs. I must say, most of his old ones were quite… shallow. They always lacked something. But “I Love You” is different. I reckon he did put a lot of mind into it. Geez tbh, if his upcoming songs are any of this level (or better), I’d be happy to wait for a little longer. Tho you reaaaally need to work on the lyrics more Nam, I don’t think you’ve polished it enough…
Still, some lines still stand out for me. I personally really love the line that goes, “The sky is more blue now that I have you”. It’s simple, yet it shows the man’s changed state of mind when he met and fell in love with his lover.
What I find that’s rather heartwarming in some of the lines was, it takes a whole lot of courage for the man to tell his partner that he loves them, and to tell the world about that love. And that’s so beautiful.
A couple years ago, I was obsessed with Fellow Travelers, a series that had changed all of my perspectives. Love can come in all shapes and forms. Love is sometimes spoken out loud, and sometimes just made hidden through courses of affectionate actions. We never heard a single “ily” from Hawk to Tim throughout the series, but did Hawk love Tim? Yes, a thousand times yes (I’m gonna headbutt you if you say no, try me!). Until the end, he could finally admit his love, but a confession was never there. Besides, giving up one’s everything for love was never a wise option. It could be romantic in poetry, but never in real life. Tim resented the idea at some points, but he came to terms with it for most of his life already.
All that said, never underestimate when somebody muster up their courage (after all of the hesitation, fear, doubtfulness) to tell their loved ones that they love them. Don’t ever take it so lightly bc who are you to judge?
Anw, the song fits my taste so of course I have to make an edit out of it. It came out fine ig, not something I’m most proud of, but defintely one of those that I’ve put most efforts and love into (i myself teared up a bit while rewatching it over and over ngl…)
