trying to manage my pain this week and spending time in quiet reflection about the past year.
it’s easy to forget all we have overcome to get to our present state of being.
it’s easy to forget how truly fragile our human bodies are. how precious the air in our lungs is. how marvelously our organs and muscles and cells work together to keep our feet firmly planted on this earth.
doctors told Em “your friend is lucky to be alive right now.” i’ve been replaying that over and over in my mind. i’ve called my mom more than a half a dozen times this week. reflected with close friends on the miracle of life and the magic of the adventures we have shared.
i’m thinking today about all the pain i’ve experienced this year. emotionally, physically, relationally. the struggle i’ve gone through to find my voice. the hurt i’ve caused and the hurt that has been inflicted on me.
i’m looking ahead too, to all that i want to accomplish, to the goals that i have voiced, some silent prayers and some shouted from rooftops.
the end of the year and the conclusion of a decade seems to be a natural time to reflect. don’t let the fear of what is or shall come keep you from celebrating your life in this moment.
you’ve have done so much to be here. that in itself, is a great victory. && i am so grateful to be present with you. here’s to more mountains to climb and wilderness to explore.
