Hey, so some of y’all on this app called me dramatic and crazy and stupid for a post I made a while back that basically said the F1 movie was going to cause a rampant uptick in (the already prevalent) misogyny in F1.

But, lo and behold, I was right all along.

The film doesn’t even pass the fucking Bechdel test, are we surprised?

So I’m once again reiterating what I said in my previous post back in May,

If you happen to know a female F1 fan, please be kind to her. Check on her. Listen to her. She’s probably fucking frustrated right now.

instead of calling them “the franco fans” (which is a fucked up generalization of an entire fandom for a very sweet boy) or “the argentinians” (which is straight up xenophobic), we need to start referring to the people behind the abusive comments as “the racists” and “the zealots” because that’s what they are and they should be called out on it. calling them “fans” and lumping them in with people who actually support franco just gives them more room to justify their actions as “normal fan behavior”

the whole reason franco is even competing right now was because he personally asked people to sponsor him, to the point we started trending his name on twitter to make big companies in argentina to acknowledge him thats how bad it was and how much he struggled to continue in the sport if his sponsors now (which he more than deserves) brings the entire gdp of our country to back him up i can assure you it won't be enough, if that were me i'll sell my first born for franco

i think a few people need a refresher on franco colapinto so let’s get this straight:

a year ago he was starting his first f2 season

he has less f2 experience than all the rookies in the grid, and he still managed to bring points to a team that (at the time of him joining) had only scored 4 points

he scored points in his second race

last season he brought 5 points to williams in nine races (and at circuits he had never raced before)

he had three days to properly prepare for his f1 debut

i see a lot of people talking about how “franco is just good pr he’s not a good driver” and that just. baffles me. because sure, franco has sponsors now. but people forget that he doesn’t come from money, that his later career was largely supported by williams, that he initially couldn’t afford to move up to f2—that the only reason he eventually could pay the costs of f2 was because argentina started backing him as a country.

so yeah. put some respect on his name.
