It’s all too easy to give up. When hopes are so high and the chances are so low, when you sacrifice everything for one single day which could go completely wrong. The truth of Irish Dancing in my life is to the objective world it means absolutely nothing. There is no money to be won and there are no sponsorships in a competitive career. At the end of the day all I have are a few trophies and photographs to prove my memories, and yet somehow it means so much.

My law lecturer doesn’t care whether I placed 9th, 16th or nothing at the World Championships. Future employers won’t ask for my best world ranking or whether I was an All Ireland Champion, but the thing that made sense in the last few days is when Dancing personally means something, that counts for everything.

It’s all to easy to give up, but there is so much more that I have to offer.
