What’s the story behind any of your favorite songs that you’ve made? For example, adequate, at best! Was there anything specific that happened that encouraged you to write it?

Adequate, at Best was pretty much born from the feeling of trying fruitlessly to please my crush and feeling like a bit of a creature -

The entire second verse and the "tight dress" line are about a homecoming dress I wore, and I remember getting ready in my room before the dance, just desperately hoping they would like it or like me. I felt a bit out of my element and had this aversion to being seen in that light.

I wanted to capture that discomfort and that feeling of "if you don't find me pretty, I hope you will at least find me to be enough."

In the end, the dance ended up being less than adequate, but it inspired me to write this song :,)
