A deep, speaker-watered voice echoes through the desolate chambers of the ruins of the building.

“I am still here.”

“Well for starters, I’m going to be honest, the food. It’s really not that good, tastes like it was put in the fridge a week ago and microwaved. My friends seemed to like it- so you might wanna ask around on that. For safety reasons, I’d suggest putting the animtronics behind a Plexiglas. A few holes in it like you see at the bank so they can be heard, but then you don’t have children crawling up on stage to see them and possibly get hurt. Trust me even with ‘do not touch’ signs, kids will still touch, and Karen’s will still complain. 

“Perhaps have a staff member or two around them as well, keep in eye out for kids sneaking back stage, and to do regular checks on them between shows. You can’t be too careful with that sort of thing, you know? For liability reasons, and most importantly, for the safety of the guests and staff of the establishment.” 

Elijah paused for a moment, still thinking before he said “I think that’s all I can really say on that issue. If you want more opinions on keeping it clean, or the food, I can connect you to some folks who know more about that stuff.”

“Plexiglas, ey?....” William mused, putting a hand to his chin. “It might be expensive to install and new to manage, but that’s a solid idea.” he said, writing that down on his clipboard he intended to take the survey with. “A few older characters do need to roam around at night to keep their servos from locking, which is where that rumor about them being dangerous to night guards comes from, since they were originally designed to walk around during the day for long hours at a time, but I’m sure something could be worked out there.” he said.

“More staff close to the characters is a good idea too, we already often have day watch keep an eye on specific ones who are acting a little funny, maybe that just needs to be a regular thing. Might keep stage crashes from happening too.” he added.

“The food thing is something variable between locations, since there’s so many factors that go into it. I could look into a new supplier to make sure ingredients are adequate...” he started, beginning to muse over the thought. The food was something he did struggle with and it’s kind of where the facade started to crack, but like Hell he was gonna endure more complaints about that.

But then he mentioned cleanliness.

“Sanitation is actually something I intend to crack down on personally, and it’s something I had in my back pocket.” he said. “One of my associates and I are currently looking into ditching my partner’s old franchise-wise cleaning policy and trying to implement things that work by location, certain areas of certain locations seem to get an increased amount of traffic or are more prone to being dirtied up than others.” he explained.

“Oh, while we’re here! Can I just say, thank you so much for offering your time?” William asked.

He wasn’t so much upset about his own death as he was about the deaths of everyone else.

“…uh huh…” Ah. There was the falter in Danny’s act, obviously confused as to what the fuck this man was talking about. God, Afton was crazier than he thought. 

“Weeeelll, I could never be upset with you.” She said, booping William on the nose. “You did me a favor! I’m finally the star I was always meant to be! Being up on stage…everyone’s eyes on me…and I have you to thank for it.”

William paused...

And then his eyes lit up... literally, the silver glow of his eyes, turning even white for a second, pulsed gently.

“Oh my God. You, you get it.” he said, somewhat shocked, as he huffed into a smile. “You understand- you finally understand why I’m doing this!” he proclaimed. “You, you understand!” he said like it was some kind of huge eureka moment.

Oh boy, what was he playing into?

“This, this is what I was talking about!” he said. “Immortality, and the ability to live on forever!” he said. “Admired by hundreds of thousands of people, day in, day out, making them smile...” he went on, as he broke into a hearty chuckle.

“And to think you doubted me.”

His eyes grew wide for a second “okay- okay- before I answer. I should introduce myself. I’m Elijah.” He clapped his hands together and rocked on the balls of his feet a bit, filled with glee. 

“I’ve looked into it for a while now, tried to pick out evidence, tried to figure out something- anything. I’m really big into true crime, and everything about the place is just- no one knows what in goodness is going on there. Who is doing it- why- everything. There are so many theroys, some dark, some impossible. I would have been a crime scene investigator, but I’m far more interested in how the justice system works. You know? Getting innocent people free from crimes they didn’t commit, and getting folks who can be helped the help they need instead of putting them into our already overly populated prisons. And that’s the thing about prision! It’s just there to make money. We are told that we need it, to lock up all the bad people. But most people in there are there for things that could have been avoided if they just got the help they needed, and that’s what I strive to do. You know- wait sorry got off track. “

Elijah held his hands up for a a second. “Freddy Pizza.” He said as he lowered them.  “Yeah- I’ve actually been there a few times, with some friends from college. It seems like a Chuck E Cheese place but- I don’t know if it’s the stories I’ve heard or what- but it’s just freaky.” 

On the outside, William’s smile dropped, but on the inside, he was intrigued. Few people took up stock in the theories about Freddy’s, and even fewer had an interest in True Crime like him. As threatening as his presence now was, Afton had led the Police Chief on a Wild Goose Chase before, he could lead him on one just as easy, all he’d need to do was be subtle.

“Actually.” William started, taking on a more modest, but no less friendly expression.

“You’ve just answered a number of questions I wanted to ask. You see, as, chance would have it, what if I told you you were speaking to one of two owners of Fazbear Entertainment right this second?” William asked, as he opened his coat back up, and pulled out a golden badge, adorned with the same, smiling cartoon bear.

“I know we haven’t had the best history, stories and rumors and legal dubiousness and all, but the reason I’m out here today giving people this questionnaire of mine is, we’re actually looking to rebrand, and start over from scratch. Clean slate.” he explained, clasping his hands together.

“You see, I’m the technical end of the operation, my company has handled all robotics, mechatronics, security equipment, stage lighting, sound, and employee tools as of a few years ago due to a partnership contract between me and my associate, Henry Emily. And, we’ve been testing out a number of prototypical characters that we think would be ideal for an all-new location.” he went on.

“As someone attuned to true justice, morality, and as someone who’s taken stock in the interest of protecting people...”

“I would love to hear your opinions on what we could be doing better.”

The gears in his head had started to turn.

“Well I try to support local businesses as much as I can” Elijah told him “but- this is a fairly big city so who knows.” He shrugged a bit. 

Unlike the strange man he was speaking to, Elijah’s eyes seemed to light up with his smile. His pudgy cheeks, and freckles that covered him head to toe only added to the mans friendly aura. 

“I’m always happy to help so, ask away.”

“Perfect, just perfect!” he replies, his look warming up himself.

“Oh, my name’s Dr. William Afton Junior, by the way, but you can just call me William, or Afton.” He said. 

“Alright, alright, fa fa fa, first question....” he said, as he pulled a clipboard and pen out of the inside of his coat, almost like a magician. The pen’s cap was adorned with the head of a smiling, brown cartoon bear wearing a black top hat, which he pressed, and with an amusing little squeak, the pen’s point clicked out.

“Have you ever heard of a Children’s Pizzeria and Arcade called ‘Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza’?” he asked. “And if so, have you ever heard any... unsavory rumors about it?” he went on, his smile dropping as he got to the part about ‘unsavory rumors’.

Not at all deterred by being pushed off, Chica remained uncomfortably close to William. Even if she couldn’t physically smile, she was just giving off those vibes of a shit eating grin. 

“I’m feeling great! But even better now that you’re here~”

Of course Danny noticed the hand behind Afton’s back. 

“Ooooo what’cha got there? Is it a present for me?” She tried to move around behind him to see what he was doing.

William cracked a smile.

“And here I thought you’d be upset with me,” he admitted.

Suspiciously enough though, Afton returned his other hand to reveal there was nothing in it.

“Although, sadly, I didn’t think to bring you a little, ‘suit-warming’ present?” he asked. Well, that was suspicious. William had some deep pockets, after all.

“I came to check up on you, actually,” he said, turning to fully face Chica. “I pop down here every so often, just to make sure all the little ducks are in a row,” he explained. “And it would seem they are, and much better so than I first thought.”

Wait, what was that supposed to mean?

“The better question is…did you miss me?” The chicken leaned her entire body against William, staring up at him while trying to do the eyelash thing with her eyes.

William was quick to push her off and take a couple steps back. “I see you’re growing into your new role.” he says, almost casually as if he’d given him a new job and not, say, murdered him.

He kept one hand behind his back as he spoke.

“But, yes, I suppose I did miss you, how are you feeling?” he asked, something of a taunt reaching into his tone there at the end.

“Howdy, Chica. Did you miss me?...”

Elijah looked at the man, then to his watch and nodded “yeah, I have time. What is this survey for, may I ask?” 

The man chuckles, and offers a warm smile in return.

“Well, you see, I’m an owner of a small little local business around here; and I had a couple questions relating to it. It’s okay if you haven’t heard of us or anything, I just wanted to gauge some people’s thoughts.”

Call it a hunch, but there was something quite, off about this person. It wasn’t immediately obvious, but there was just something off, especially about his eyes and the way he smiled. His eyes were a faded, but bright blue, almost... silver. And there was just something so indecent about the way he smiled. Like a creepy relative.
