Today, Kurt Donald Cobain is born in Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington and would have been 47. Nirvana manager John Silver got Kurt a carton of cigarettes for his last birthday.

Nirvana played in Edinburgh at the Southern Bar. It was a gig organised by The Joyriders as a charity event for the Sick Kids' hospital, and was advertised on flyers handed out after the Nirvana gig at Calton Studios on the 29th November. The flyers stated "and very, very special (American) Guests". On the night, after the Joyriders set ended, it was announced that Teen Spirit would not be appearing due to illness, and the venue nearly emptied. After an hour Kurt and Dave did appear, and played 5 songs acoustically, under the name "Teen Spirit" to about 20 people. Krist didn't play for some reason.

On February 10, 1994, Nirvana performed at the Palais des Sports in Toulouse, France. It was their first concert in France after spending some time in Spain. The Buzzcocks were the opening act. Tickets cost around 140 Francs.
The set was about 85 minutes long, even though they played over 20 songs.
"When we left them in France, they went to Rome the next day, and he said, "I'll see you in Brixton." And of course he tried to kill himself in Rome, and then he flew out the next day, back to Seattle and [the next month] he shot himself. I thought, 'I've just left the guy, and he shot himself...'
