Picture without the colour correction and some thoughts under the cut

With this illustration I tried to focus more on painting the background/landscape to practice. Most of my art normally focuses on characters, so I'm not that great at this kind of thing, but it didn't turn out too bad. I will probably try adding lineart later but I wanted to post this version as well, especially since I won't exacly be able to erase the lines once I put them on paper 😅

This one started out being a bit of a struggle. This is my third take on that illustration (that's why Aziraphales face looks a bit different than the one in my previous WIP photo). I didn't like how the first version was looking when I started painting it, so I tried remaking it digitally, but that got annoying pretty quick (because I'm not used to it, and I don't know how to make it work the way I want it to), and so I decided to just redraw it again on paper. So it took a while, but I think it turned out quite nice all things considered 😊

Nénuphars

Something different than my usual posts today, hopefully you guys will like it nonetheless 😅

Thoughts and inspiration explained underneath

This illustration is inspired by the play Terre Océan by Daniel Danis where he described the scene by writing "Des nénuphars flottent et ondulent sous la lampe centrale de la table de réunion" ("Water lilies float and wave under the central lamp of the meeting table")

Unfortunately I haven't actually read the play, but we talked about it during French literature. This scene was just really magical for me with the combination of the fantasy elements like the floating water lilies with a more or less normal business meeting, and it inspired me to make this illustration

This piece was made with traditional mixed media (watercolours, ink, gouache and pencils) and later digitaly edited. I'm posting two versions simply because I like them both 😊
