Not so long ago was Loy Kratong in Thaïland, and in Chiang Mai this festival, with all these flying lanterns, seems to be amazing. I’ve never seen it live but it’s definitely on my travel schedule. Here is a short animation about it.

Last september '2025) I was in Athens and there was an event were they flew thousands of these flying lanterns !

In Athens, building the metro basically turned construction crews into time travelers. The project became the biggest archaeological excavation ever done in the Athens area, revealing more than 50,000 ancient objects. Today, some stations display old water pipes, pottery, lamps, roads, tombs, and pieces of everyday ancient life.
