Through Deaf Eyes
I found the documentary pretty sad and a little but enraging. Watching people continuously share stories of having to go through so much on a daily basis really triggers so many emotions in me. The movie covers different peoples experiences and so many different topics its a great movie to watch. It was wonderful to see that there has been many improvements since back in the day but horrible to see that the deaf community member are still constantly treated differently when they really aren't from anyone else. All the stories shared were so interesting but i found the story about ben to be really eye opening. That he thought even his own father wasn't as smart as his mom because his english wasn't up to par. I found to be really interesting because I never would have expected this to happen to members within the community. I learnt that my role as an ally is really to just help shed some light. People in the hearing world need to be exposed and educated to understand that deaf people aren't sad to be deaf and they aren't dumb or slow but really the hearing world is dumb and slow because we are the ones who don't understand.
