And well, my Harry Potter audition is the one I was thinking of, since I told a dirty joke and as a little kid, completely fucked that up and shocked everyone in the room. That's an adorable joke though, I love it and appreciate this stranger all the more. Plus I know she had to appreciate you lending a hand with the height and all! The secondhand embarrassment will disappear, though. I mean, as long as it isn't like 3am and you're up contemplating any silly things you've done, because those things always seem to come to mind during that hour.

I'll admit that I've been a fan of yours since watching Sweeney Todd for the first time. exactly! i know sometimes my mouth works faster than my brain and then i feel a little dumb -- it happens to us all, doll. and if i made you feel better, then i'm happy for that! and i'm glad the joke was so funny, it's always best when you can laugh at the situation, right? oh gosh, the double strollers are the worst. my husband can handle them no problem, but a lot of the time i struggle with them! a lot of the time it's just easier for us to each wear one of those carriers and carry the girls that way! oh, i suffer from secondhand embarrassment all the time for other people as well, i'll even hide my face like it's happened to me! and again, i'm glad talking to me made you feel better! it has been so long and i'm sorry for losing contact -- i need to get better about reaching out to my friends! what companies are you working with now? and i've been amazing, i love being a mom and love being married. i'm also working on nosferatu with some amazing actors so i can't complain. and george and i are planning to go, so if you're there you'll likely be seeing me there!

there's a good chance if i'm speaking, something dumb is going to be said, it can't be helped. i've just started to embrace it though, because making myself feel bad about saying stupid shit wasn't going to change anything. but if it makes you feel better, i don't think you said anything dumb at all. it sounds like one of those instantly speak before thinking moments, right? i'm also happy that the lady wasn't rude to you -- especially when you didn't say anything that bad! but now i'm curious about this joke that she told you? and she was probably very thankful that you helped her get free -- those strollers always look like they're massive and i don't know how people maneuver them as they do.

You're not the first to tell me this and it makes me feel a lot better that there are so many people out there saying dumb things! It was one of those moments where I didn't think and just spoke, but I have a lot of those moments if I'm honest. I'm pretty happy the lady wasn't rude to me either, I've had to deal with plenty of rude people in New York so it's a hit or miss I feel. I'm not sure if you've ever heard of that one comedian that does "here's your sign" jokes, it was kind of like that. But she said she was walking the door and she had to stop because it got tired. Which I'll admit was pretty funny. And this stroller was pretty big, which makes me wonder if she normally can get through doors with how big it was? But I don't know how people push them either! @stanbastian

Exactly! I always half expect that from strangers in New York sometimes, but I'm glad she was pleasant about it. The defeated and exhausted look, I know that one well and it's all the more reason parents honestly need all the help they can get sometimes. And now I bet she's telling everyone about the Amazonian guardian angel that helped get her stroller unstuck. The waitress must have let me sleep a little when she only woke me up because they were near closing time, so that was a kindness on her part. And oh man, your friends sound like a fun bunch, especially since I couldn't hold myself back from doing that either if one of my friends fell asleep, fair warning. I've woken up to my share of marker drawings on my face for falling asleep around certain people, so just consider it passing the luck along. And I do! Can't have too many of those when you're on location.

It was a very nice surprise that she was pleasant about it! I can only imagine how exhausted and defeated you parents are, having to worry about a whole human besides yourselves! I'm laughing just a little at the idea of anyone thinking I'm an Amazonian guardian angel, even if I am a former angel. I would have been just like that waitress, I'd have just thought let him sleep and I'll bother him when it's time to close. I'd have to show you the pictures so you could truly appreciate what my friends did while I was asleep. They had prop changes and everything! And what I'm hearing right now is don't get drunk and fall asleep near you or I'll wake up with marker drawings on my face. This means I can't be near you drinking when I have photoshoots the next day! And that's usually the first thing I do when I'm on location for anything is searching out the best places to eat. I normally have a strict diet, but I'll ignore it and work out harder for good food. @skarsgardhqs

Oh yeah, for sure. You can’t be alone in that. I’ve heard plenty of them, as well as been in them. Most of the time, people like me can’t find something to say to fix it, if you know what I mean. Ugh, I miss New York but I don’t miss it if that makes sense. I used to live there but the cold and the busy lifestyle just was too much for me. Let’s say I enjoy California a lot more. But you are going to live it up on the weekend to make up for all that work! I don’t party as much when I’m not on tour because I’m on mommy alert twenty-four seven, 365. It’s enough partying for me when it’s back to reality.

I understand all to well about missing New York but not missing it. When I'm back home in Nashville I find myself sometimes wishing I was in New York, but then the minute I leave my retreat in Nashville for New York, I'm already wishing I'm back home. The cold doesn't bother me so much since I'm originally from Colorado, but it is rather busy. I've grown so used to the slow pace that is Nashville and just the southern charm, I know I couldn't live in New York full time. And I couldn't live in California full time either! I ended up not partying as much as I would have liked because of a stupid head cold! But I can understand not being able to party much while being in mommy mode! But you get wild when you're on tour right? @wanderingkehlani

I know and I guess it surprises people given all the attention lately, but I've always been more on the introverted side. It's inevitable to say something silly at some point, right? If you're giving a Ted Talk on not dwelling on it, I'll be in the front row to both cheer you on and take notes while you're dropping this knowledge. Don't let it nag in a bad way though, it's a funny story and maybe that lady is now telling people about how someone nice helped her out. I've been looking forward to taking a trip there myself, especially when spring in New York is the greatest time. You could always get a vacation spot, right? I've lived in the city before and easily one of the most fun times of my life. Only downside is my California blood barely survives those winters.

Did acting help you get more out of the introverted state? I'm setting up my slide show as we speak for my Ted Talk, figured I needed to make it look and sound all official. Even if I'm pretty sure it's going to be all nonsense, I'm not sure you should waste your time taking notes! I got over it more quickly than I normally get over stuff, but it helped to hear a lot of people's own stories. A lot of people seem to say silly things without thinking and that always puts me at ease when I hear stuff like that. Spring in New York has been gorgeous, but I'll be heading back to Nashville in the morning! Do you plan on heading to New York soon? I've looked at a few apartments while I've been here and I think I found one that I like, so that vacation spot might happen! And I'm originally from Colorado, those winters are weak compared to what I'm used to! @butlerhq

Well, at least you were being kind and clearly she found the situation humorous so you shouldn't worry too much. You did a nice thing and honestly, it could have been worse. The intentions were pure even if the question was midly redundant. How did the stroller get stuck is what I'd like to know? Were there steps that she had to use or had the wheels turned in a funny direction? Awkward moments and dumb questions fill my existence and I'll never live them down. I was once at the Oscars and asked a very famous actress what she was doing there. It sounded dumb, it sounded insulting and I'll never be able to live it down. I didn't mean it like that though, she'd walked over to my table and I was so shocked to see her that it just flew out my smooth without me realising what I'd said. To this day i have nightmares about it.

That's true and she was really sweet about it, and like I said we ended up having a good laugh. I wondered too how she got the stroller stuck because it was jammed in there. I'm just thankful I was able to get it loose for her so she could carry on her day because the child was getting fussy. There weren't steps, it was honestly just jammed tight into the door. I was a little bit impressed that she managed that. I'm sorry I'll admit that I laughed a little at you asking her that, but likely would have done the same thing. Because anytime someone famous approaches me and talks to me, I'm always wondering why and how did I get so lucky. I'm sorry you still have nightmares about it though, did she at least laugh it off too?

Oh that happens to me way too many times especially when I'm around my group members. I swear I've asked a friend one time if they were hurt when they were clearly in pain and they gave me a look like I was the dumbest person to exist. We laughed about it but whenever we hang out now, they love bringing it up so I feel embarrassed all over again haha. I'm glad she made a joke to clear the air and you helped her in the end. I get it though, it's like the moment will just haunt you for a bit afterwards.

It's been making me feel better to hear I'm not the only one! And you're not the only one that's asked if someone is hurt after watching them hurt themselves. I one time asked my mom "are you bleeding" after seeing that she was bleeding. I remember my mom just looked at me like she was sorry she birthed me. My mom still brings it up as well so I think it's funny your group members do the same thing! I'm glad she made a joke also and felt a lot better when I helped her out. But you're right, I think it's natural for those things to stick with you for days and sometimes weeks after!

Hahah, just the mental image of this made my day. To be fair, I hear parenting is a hard job and can make everyone more nutty than usual. I love a good sense of humor, shoutout to that lady. I feel like I have more dumb responses than questions. For example, every single time I’ve gone to the movies and I’ve been told to “enjoy the movie”. I always say “you too.”

I'm always happy to make someone's day! And she looked a little defeated so I do not doubt that she was feeling a little nutty, especially with having her stroller stuck! But I'm thankful for her sense of humor because that made the situation a lot better, and it ended up being a funny joke. You're not the only one, I have a habit of doing that too. Or when the waiter tells me to enjoy my dinner and I always say "you too" to that as well.

I want to start by saying you are not the first person to ask a dumb question in the presence of others and certainly won't be the last. but if it makes you feel better, I'll share my own awkward experience with that. on my first date with my boyfriend, I asked—over dinner: is it really that cold in sweden? because hey, I've never been and wanted to make some kind of headway in the conversation. it was only after the words left my mouth did I want to sink further into my chair and let the earth swallow me whole. fortunately for me, he laughed it right off and the rest of the night carried on without a hitch. I think that's what you have to do in those type of situations. just laugh it off.

That's very true and it makes me feel better hearing everyone's stories about the dumb things they've said in the past! Your story made me laugh a little because that's something I've always wondered about Sweden. After all, every time I go there it's always so cold. But that's good that he just laughed and I have a feeling that just helped with him becoming your boyfriend, right? Because that's rather sweet if you ask me! And it's good the rest of the night carried on without a hitch because first dates are very nerve-racking! It's wise to just laugh off most things and I'll be honest and say that I didn't let it bother me as long as I normally would. We're all guilty of speaking before we think though so I don't think you should be so hard on yourself with that! You're not the only one, I have a habit of saying you too when it's not needed as well and I always want to hide after doing it! That's what I'm most thankful for because I know it could have gone the other way and she could have been rude. She was very thankful that I got her unstuck and I felt pretty good for helping her. oh, only every single time i have to do a day of press. something always comes out of my mouth that makes me look back and go: what the fuck were you trying to say? where did the point go? that's a good one, though ── i must admit. but it was a fair question. she could have been standing there, just hanging out with her baby and admiring the architecture. imagine if you'd offer to help her and she hadn't been stuck? then it would have been offensive. just think of it as having avoided what could have been a much weirder scenario!

I can think of a few times — I've let my anger or whatever emotion I was feeling get past my lips and hated myself afterwards or just was upset. well, maybe you were off in somewhere thinking and you said the first thing you saw. I'm sure she laughed about it later too though. Don't be so hard on yourself. At least she took it with humor and wasn't mad. I feels like sometimes things slip out but you can't hold it against yourself you did end up helping her out. that's what should matter more... but if there is anything I can say is give yourself a break... we are only human.

It's probably something that happens to the best of us when we're angry though, right? The first thing that pops into our head, even if it's not the nicest thing or it's not the smartest! I hope she laughed when she got home as well because that would make the whole experience even better! It makes me feel a lot better that I'm not alone in the stupid stuff that comes out of my mouth sometimes! It's always the worst when you feel bad after you say things. It makes sense that anything can come out of your mouth while you have a lot on your mind. When there are a few different thoughts up there at the same time, I think it's even easier to say whatever just comes to mind without thinking! And me too!
