Tristanâs smile was all that Maisie needed to know that everything was going to be okay. No matter what had happened, they were going to be okay. All of the fears sheâd had upon leaving Georgia, wondering if heâd ever even speak to her again let alone take her back were squashed and she melted against him. Maisie had her life back. She had her boyfriend, her school, her friends, her home back and there was nothing better than that. Maisie didnât often consider herself a religious person - although growing up in the South it was sort of inferred that you were religious or you got the heck out of town - but she thanked all the gods in the sky for giving this to her. âHmm I have to go to a store to get it. A bit of a girly store. Iâd take you with but I kind of want it to be a surprise.â Maisie teased him. Although their feelings for each other were seen as innocent to most others, their relationship was definitely anything but. As much as they liked to cuddle and go on cute dates they also liked to do a few other things. âOr you can just come visit me when Dad drives up to New Jersey for the weekend or something.â Maisie offered with a large grin. She met his kiss with an equal passion. The blonde battled him for dominance of the kiss for a moment but eventually gave in and let him have his way. Oh yeah, she had definitely missed this, Maisie thought as a familiar heat spread through her. âStill my hungry boy. Maybe itâs a good thing I went back for awhile. I learned a bunch of new recipes. Ever had pulled pork with homemade barbecue sauce? If not youâre going to love me when I make them for you.â She teased him, âThatâs amazing! I mean, not the Charlotte part. Iâm sorry to hear that. Sheâs a jock now right? Iâm really sorry. It sucks losing a friend. But the valedictorian thing is great! Youâre so close. Think theyâll allow people to write letter of rec for you?â Maisie smiled.
To have her back in his hands right now was amazing to Tristan. Things had gotten so bad that he thought he'd possibly never see her again. Like maybe she could score a trip here but would things even be the same? He was glad that things were back to the status quo, a smile staying plastered across his face. "A girly store? What kind of girly store?" Tristan asked with a confused look on his face, immediately thinking of the girly pink toy stores that he'd be subjected to going to as a child, like Libby Lu or Build-a-Bear or something. Then it clicked in his mind and he gave her a doofey grin. "Oh... oh! That kind of girly store... yes. I like that present very much. I'd like it even more if it were red," he added, dropping his voice to a whisper when he said the color, hands restde on her waist. "Wait, wait... pulled pork with homemade barbecue sauce? It's going to beat the store bought sauce that my mom gets probably. When am I getting that? What about cornbread? Is there some of that?" Tristan asked, mouth watering at the thought. "Less talk about Charlotte, more talk about us..." he settled on, squeezing her hand as he took it. "It comes down to GPA at the end of the day and I just have to have the best one. That way, no letter of rec is even needed. I don't need one!" he reaffirmed in himself with a smile. "We have to go before the soccer moms and their kids take all the seats after practice," he said with urgency, practically sprinting to his car and unlocking the doors.
