Watching some of the banned OS episodes today, and the whiplash between "happy children singing" to *Kaiser pulls a gun and threatens to murder said children* is insane.

i love binging the first couple of pokemon seasons for team rocket moments like this
Not now, sweaty
Evil team leaders in Pokémon are just like “let’s become a national terrorist. And also make my employees wear cunty little outfits”
There’s no mobility aids in the game so I just gave him a pet cane
INDE NAVARRETTE "The fake answer that I love to give [for my childhood crush] is Channing Tatum in Step Up. But the real answer is Optimus Prime in Transformers. Specifically, obviously, the first one. There's a monologue that he has at the end of the movie that leads right into [a Linkin Park song]. I think that was my awakening."
hi we’re a24 and we loved the ytp you posted when you were 15. do you want to direct the multimillion dollar adaptation of your opus, simpsons gone purple?
Calling Kane Parsons' Backrooms an 'adaptation of a 4chan post' is so wildly insane given that the movie has virtually nothing to do with the original post whatsoever other than it serving as vague inspiration. Like atleast half of the negative reviews it gets is because it isn't the 'real backrooms' that the internet made up and that Kane is sticking to his story and his vision and not adding in 'Level 666: the spooky level!' Or some lame shit some random wiki cooked up
They did not turn a 4chan post into a movie, they turned a hugely popular internet webseries into a movie and it did crazy at the box office
Its also very much arthouse, not only is it subversive as a film, taking an internet web series and turning into a full scale production, but it also subverted the industry by giving a 20 year old a theatrical release (something that filmbros are still refusing that he actually did, and are insisting that theres a real, older, proper director behind the scenes because no way a 20 year old could direct a movie, apparently)
Like i get it, its the internet people are going to be reductive to the point of absurdism but this is just wrong 😭😭 you're acting like James Wan was scrolling 4chan, saw a post, and took it to Blumhouse, this was a multi-year endeavour backed by precedent, and is an insanely impressive movie from a production POV, with a hugely talented individual manning it from day 1 with a clear vision and story he wants to tell.
backrooms (2026)
The lost turnabout is not that bad. Some people act as if it's on the same level as big top and that it's one of the worst in the entire series, but personally I think that's a huge exaggeration. Really, at worst, the case is just forgettable (which is ironic considering this is the amnesia case)
Like, this is the case that gives us the Phoenix couch image. This is the case where a guy mistakes a baseball glove for a bunch of bananas, and you can accuse him of liking large bananas. And more importantly, this case has the Phoenix couch image.
Also, at the end of the case where he had regained his memories, he still struggled to remember who Winston Payne was, which is also pretty funny. People act like the amnesia thing is way too overused in media and that in this case in particular it was a poor excuse to make the player go through the tutorial again, but throughout the case you can even forget that Phoenix is amnesiac in the first place (also ironic), because he's quickly acting like he normally does in a courtroom.
Some people think Richard Wellington is an awful and annoying character but I disagree. I think he's pretty funny, especially his panicking sprite. Like, he's such an imbecile that it makes him funny. His prickly rich boy attitude makes him so hateable and makes you want to punch him in the face, but at the same time, he's hilarious without effort.
It's also the case that introduces Maggey, whom Gumshoe unsubtly has a crush on. Need I say more
I absolutely adore The Lost Turnabout because Amnesiac Phoenix just being like “I’m a lawyer-? Fuck it, we ball” is so endearing that it made me fall in love with his character. I liked him fine before, but that was the moment I was like. Oh Phoenix is some freak force of nature and I think he’s the best protagonist ever written.
