One of my favourite things about the whole album is that even though New Years Day isn’t about us, the ending could be… it ends with

“Hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you

And I will hold on to you”

To me that stand for everything we have all been through the last couple of years.

We held on because we knew who the real Taylor was, we didn’t fall for anything, the memories kept us grounded and they held us up so we could fight back and prove people wrong, the memories were our evidence and Taylor held onto us throughout that whole time, and had still does, she holds on and she holds us up, always.

Its the perfect ending to the album with the reminder that even though we might feel alone, we never are.
