When Keirin first confessed to Kanuma, he thought Rin was joking. So, in order to prove his love, Keirin said he'd confess every month and give up after the 12th month.
He was promptly rejected each of those months, and as promised, he stopped pursuing Numa. It was only a few months later that Kanuma realized he had feelings for Rin after all. To get Keirin back, Kanuma decided to confess in the same manner. Except his would actually succeed on the 5th month because Keirin can't stay upset for long.

For most of his youth, Veltari desperately wanted to be a wizard. The problem was that he was terrible at it. Not "needed more practice" terrible. Catastrophically terrible.
Other apprentices could memorize spells after a few readings. He spent weeks on cantrips and still managed to produce sparks that smelled wrong. His spell circles warped. His incantations slurred. Components exploded. He once turned his own eyebrows red for three months trying to cast Mage Hand.
He wasn't stupid. He understood magical theory perfectly.
Magic simply refused to cooperate.
Still, he kept trying.
After years of humiliation, failed examinations, and becoming the butt of every joke at his academy, he left at twenty-one determined to prove everyone wrong.
While traveling through a remote region, he became obsessed with rumors of an ancient magical creature hidden in the mountains.
If he could find it, maybe it would teach him something. Maybe it would finally explain why magic hated him. Instead, he slipped off a cliff.
He remembers tumbling through branches, rocks, and dirt before crashing into something warm.
Something that immediately screamed.
He had landed directly on a unicorn.
The impact knocked both of them unconscious.
When he woke up, he found an injured unicorn pinned beneath fallen debris. A creature of immense magical power. A sacred being. And he had essentially dropped out of the sky onto its head. Convinced he had nearly killed a holy creature, he panicked. For the next several hours he attempted every healing spell he knew.
All of them failed. One accidentally set his sleeve on fire. Another somehow healed a nearby shrub instead. Eventually he gave up on magic entirely and started helping the old-fashioned way. Bandaging wounds. Gathering water. Keeping watch. Dragging away debris. Staying with the unicorn for days while it recovered.
The unicorn eventually awoke.
It was ancient, wounded, and utterly baffled.
Most mortals who encountered it sought power, blessings, or prophecy. This tiefling had spent days trying to save it while repeatedly proving he was the worst wizard alive. At one point, he admitted the truth.
"I don't even want power anymore."
A pause.
"Actually, that's a lie. I want power very badly."
Another pause.
"I just want it to work."
The unicorn laughed.
The tiefling thought it was laughing at him.
It wasn't.
The unicorn saw something rare: someone who had spent years failing and had not become cruel, bitter, or selfish.
So it offered a blessing.
The tiefling tried to perform the ritual correctly.
Naturally, he messed it up. What was supposed to be a temporary blessing became a full magical pact. Neither of them entirely realized what had happened until several days later when fey magic started manifesting around him.
In the following years, the unicorn had places to be. The tiefling had absolutely no plan. So he followed.
At first he intended to learn enough to undo the pact. Then he wanted to understand it. Then he wanted to understand the unicorn. Nine years later, he's still following its trail.
Sometimes they're together, sometimes he spends months searching for signs of it. A silver hoofprint in the mud. Flowers blooming out of season. A miraculous healing in a village. A glimpse of white in a distant forest. The unicorn rarely tells him where it's going. It insists that if he's going to grow, he needs to find his own path. Which is frustrating because wandering after cryptic unicorn clues was not something wizard school prepared him for.

Anyways! Like last time I love both series and if anyone has any suggestions for this AU I’d love to hear them! Especially if its suggestions for the roles of the misfit class(I am struggling 😭)
I’m currently working on figuring out how Nirei and Suo encounter Sakura because he isn’t a chaotic tornado like Clara is.
Also for now I’m making Taishi Mogami(the guy who fought Sugishita during the KEEL arc) take Kiriwo’s role.
