My biggest ff icks are too many dialogues (like the every other line is a dialogue kind) and exclamation marks in third-person narration. Especially the exclamation marks in third-person narration and their overusage.

My biggest LITG fic ick is… season 4 misusing Youcef. Even if he’s a small character, I’ve seen some things that just… it’s not him. If you can’t write him, don’t use him (but I’m also someone who would really look at that and most people wouldn’t). Also Lucas is always the bad guy. Lucas isn’t a bad guy, a lot of it is way ooc.

My biggest ick in general is… grammar. If I can’t read it in one read with understanding, I’m out.

Some fics that made Bobby, Noah, and Lucas with overwhelming toxic, obsessive trait that reading it was cringe as fuck. (made them into a massive assh*le).

My biggest ff ick in general:

Smut with daddy thingy. I don't like this kind of smut. I hate it when there's no warning indicated for a certain story and I started reading something like "Yes, daddy". OMG! I feel like I've been obliterated.

As stated on the first one, stories that were not tagged properly or no warnings.

I'm not really particular with grammar and format, but some ff literally gives me the headache because I don't understand what I'm reading anymore.

Who do you think is gonna pick mc? Honestly I don’t see anyone recoupling with us. I was thinking maybe eddie but then that would most likely mean that Dana would leave but since she’s a love interest I doubt it’ll be her. And I don’t think it’ll be kat leaving either based on the things we’ve seen. So I guess that leaves meera or arlo? I’m gonna assume that Suresh (unfortunately for us on his route) will pick arlo and alfie will pick mc. I don’t know though but it seems like alfie is the only one who is torn on who to pick that we know of so far. I just want it to be casa amor already so I can find someone who actually likes mc lol

The LITG writing is fine if you shiw interest in Suresh. Otherwise, it feels like MC is constantly being gaslighted into a relationship with that guy. Doesn't help that the fandom is a pretty toxic place when it comes to WoC. It's gotten so bad that I had to mute Dana's name to avoid racist comments. The LITG community is no help at all when you are a queer woman of color. People are asking Fusebox why the female LIs are black with their whole chest. Bigotry is the norm and it's so widespread

anon, I wholeheartedly agree with your take on the writing. it has improved since S3/4, but it’s so Suresh focused that it takes away from players who want to explore other routes.

as for the racism issue, it’s present. I don’t exactly feel like the best person to speak on it - I stick to the main litg tag and what my mutuals share, and won’t go within spitting distance of the fusebox games subreddit. surround yourself with good people, you know? maybe that makes me blissfully ignorant, but I’m here to simp over pixels, not philosophise on deeply-rooted societal issues.

okay but here is the real issue with S5.

it’s not Love Island: The Game.

it’s a visual novel about a reality tv show that vaguely resembles Love Island.

have we made a single decision yet? even one thing that influenced the story? every choice that pops up is a) yes b) no c) maybe/I’m not sure, and aside from a line back in response, it doesn’t change the conversation. Alfie pursues you whether you entertain him or not. Eddie is a sneaky snake whether you give him something to gossip about or not. being Suresh’s ex is our only personality trait.

and I’m not even mad at it, honestly. the writing is better. the characters have backstories. so far, nobody seems to have shared dialogue (probably because your dialogue is 100% predetermined) and that’s fine because the fandom will once again provide with headcanons and fics and everything will be FINE.
