different from the other anon, but wow, I didnt know Sinister would be that irked with that mc. so now I want to know what would it take for Sinister to actually dislike and hate MC? Except ofc being extremely bothered by his darkness and habits. For Lensless, Mohawk and Omni as well. I have a soft spot for Omni and Lensless
Well, the thing about Sinister is that heās pinning a LOT of his hopes on Stats in a very unhealthy way (because, well, heās Sinister).
When a mistake at the GDA allowed her to not just move into their building, but put her in the apartment across the hall from HIM, he took it as a āsignā.
See, I write Sinister as being INCREDIBLY lonely (partly his own fault, largely due to his world and his circumstances). With the exception of stories Iāve written where MC/his variant of MC was his childhood friend, Sinister HAD no childhood friends, being the son of Sinister!Nolan.
His family was considered too scary and other for other kids to befriend him.
Then, when he got his powers at age 12 and accidentally killed his mother, his father pulled him out of school to begin training, emphasizing that heās not like the humans.
Sinisterās entire life after that was Dad throwing him at huge monsters in the name of training, so he was considered a HERO, but he didnāt really interact with⦠people often, unless other heroes were already fighting a threat he came to decimate.
Then, he killed his father in defense of his Earth when Nolan revealed Viltrumās plan, because heād been protecting Earth for so long in the name of training, that he considered it his responsibility.
But killing his father meant killing the one person in his whole world who genuinely cared about him, and in turn the only person he cared about.
When more viltrumites came, he acted without an ounce of mercyāafter all, he murdered his father to fight them, why would he hear them out?
By the time Thragg came, Sinister was ready for him, and killed him in single combat while the other viltrumites watched. When they made him their emperor as a result⦠Sinister hated it. Being emperor of the viltrumites meant that he killed his father for nothing. That made everything worse, because he couldnāt even hide behind, āI had to do it to protect Earth.ā He couldnāt just kill the rest of the viltrumites, because he wasnāt dumb enough to think he could take them all at once.
But even among them he couldnāt make connections, because he was the monster who killed Nolan, Conquest, and Thragg. The viltrumites were afraid of him too.
So he accepted Angstromās deal to let him conquer other universes because he wanted to find one that didnāt already know what he was, where people didnāt immediately see him as a monsterā¦
And then he got trapped in a universe where he lead the variants who were destroying Earth.
The one saving grace for him was that he got trapped with other variants, people who would talk to him like a person⦠even if most of them are still scared of him (this is why he puts up with their shit, namely Mohawk picking on him. He still sees himself as their leader and wants to make sure they survive here, but also he doesnāt want to go back to being alone).
Thatās why Lensless is his best friend (maybe his only real friend), because Lensless is the only variant whoās not afraid of him (since Lensless is enthralled with the fact that Sinister could hurt him if he wanted to).
BUT, NOW THAT WE HAVE CONTEXT, BACK TO STATS.
When a pretty girl who didnāt know the kinds of things heās done moved in across the hall from him in a building that was not meant to be open to the public, he took it as his chance to build a connection with someone who wasnāt automatically terrified of him. Itās why heās on his best behavior when he meets Stats (yes, that was Sinister trying to BEHAVE)
He encourages Stats to form relationships with the other variants too, because:
1: He sees them as all the same guy, so heās not abundantly jealous as long as heās still involved (or better yet, the favorite. He will still be jealous when he knows heās not the favorite)
2: Heās not confident that he can keep a relationship on his own without scaring Stats off, so he feels like if sheās emotionally invested in ALL the variants, sheās less likely to leave.
He really wouldnāt want to admit it, but heās incredibly desperate.
Which is why it cuts him deeply if he confesses that heās a killer, and Stats rejects him, because thatās just the tip of the iceberg of who he is (he honestly doesnāt even think of being a serial/contract killer as all that bad, compared to the mass murder and mass destruction that heās capable of and very much has done before, so that one āsmallā thing being too much shakes what fragile hope he has that he could be loved).
The TLDR of that is that Sinister is, Yandere style, pinning a lot of unfair hopes on a girl he doesnāt even know. Heās trying to prove to himself that he can love and be loved, the fact that sheās a random stranger be damned.
Itās also why he clings SO hard if Stats DOES accept the darker parts of him.
