Hi, my name is Ivy, and I love to write! My requests are open! You can find below the fandoms and characters I write for. I apologize in advance for how long requests will take; I get spontaneously busy a lot, and I also experience a ton of writer's block. (Also: I'm a minor. I won't be writing smut.) Thanks for your understanding! I write mainly "character x fem!reader" or "character x gn!reader" fics; that's what I'm good at. Don't interact with this blog if you are bigoted or close-minded in any way; support generative AI, ICE, or Trump and his administration; or are homophobic, racist, sexist, abelist, etc. This is and always will be a safe-space for LGBTQ+ folk. Thank you for checking out my blog, and happy reading! xx

Since that night, patching Gally up after the fight, both your lives had changed.
Greenies still came up once a month. Everyone continued to work. The bonfires were held those first nights. That was all unchanged.
But the yelling, the insults, the sparring that was commonplace between Gally and you was replaced with quiet affability. You started seeking out each other's company, having real conversations instead of shouting matches. You took your meals together (you gave Gally whatever leftovers you had, and he'd give you his extra bread). Sometimes, when it was late at night or early morning, everyone else asleep, you'd go on walks together, all through the Glade, usually in the forest, sometimes the Deadheads. Hell, you even started smiling at each other. (Not that Gally ever really "smiled"; it was more of a slight upturn of the lips, closer to a smirk than a smile, but still a smile nonetheless.) You became... friends. Perhaps more than that, if either of you ever sat down and actually thought about it instead of instantaneously writing off anything serious that had to do with your emotions.
"Friends" was a foreign state for your relationship to be in. For as long as either of you could remember, you'd hated each other's guts. But this sudden change? It was terrifying. Terrifying, off-putting, but beautiful. It freaked you out, if you thought too long about it, but you now woke up in the morning grateful for the air in your lungs and your ability to walk, just so you could talk to Gally, walk with him. You began to live for him, and he for you.
This whole thing, however, was a quiet endeavor. None of you explicitly explained it to any of your fellow Gladers, but they sure as hell noticed. They thought the both of you had lost your minds; they'd make jokes and laugh about it, if neither of you were around. It was odd, but it wasn't unwelcome. They were just glad you'd finally come to your senses and got both of your heads out of your asses.
----------
Gally hadn't been sleeping much lately.
Not that he ever did, really, but recently it felt worse.
He had much more to think about than just his Builder duties.
He thought about you, late at night. Thought about what you'd said to him earlier in the day, if you smiled, how many times you smiled, what jokes you'd made he pretended to find idiotic (he thought you were the cleverest girl he'd ever met, even though he only remembered meeting one: you).
Despite these thoughts warding off his sleep, he didn't mind them. Thinking about you made him happy. He was glad he didn't have to yell to get you to talk to him anymore. As much as he liked fighting with you (ok, weirdo), this newfound softness, this companionship settled much easier with him. He was happy, for once in what of his life he could remember.
And it was obvious, too. To everyone in the Glade (except you; for all your smarts, you were often oblivious to social cues). Gally was still curt, rough with the other boys, that hadn't changed; but with you he was softer. Didn't scowl, even smiled sometimes. Laughed more. He even began to leave Ilan alone, the boy he hated so much (for no good reason, you continued to remind him). He was happy around you, and everyone was, although a little freaked out, happy for the two of you.
You weren't dating, no! No, of course not. You were just newly-close friends, nothing more, never ever, he told himself, with such conviction he actually fooled himself into believing the ridiculous lie. If only for a moment.
Eventually, after so much thought, his eyelids would grow heavy and eventually droop shut, and he'd let the sleep wash over him, just to be woken up what felt like two minutes (but was more like four or so hours) later by the first traces of early morning Glade sunlight on his face. He'd groan, push off his blankets and sit up, rubbing his eyes and running a hand through his hair. He'd then get up, creep over to where you slept, under a tall willow tree. If you weren't awake yet, he'd gently shake your shoulder to rouse you from your sleep; you'd groan, too, but brighten when you saw whose face greeted you. Then the two of you would go for your walk, something you did every day now. It was a part of your routines, and the both of you could stomach getting up so early just to have a few moments alone, away from the eyes of the Glader boys that were so oft to imposing peering.
This was your lives now, and neither of you minded. As long as everything stayed like this, neither of you minded. You had each other, and that was that.
----------
A lot of the time, Clint and Jeff were away from the infirmary shack; you didn't mind. If business was slow you preferred to work alone, anyway. But you weren't exactly alone.
Gally would come in, during his breaks, to see you. That always made your day.
Today was no different (so you thought...).
You heard footsteps behind you as you went about the shack, organizing things; you knew who they belonged to by now.
You began to smile before you'd even turned around, knowing you'd be met with Gally's face.
"Hey!" You said, happy to see him. That much was visible on your face. "How's your day been?"
Gally shrugged; his face was relaxed, blank, but with no scowl in sight. Thanks to you. "Alright," he answered simply. "Boring. Slow. Figured I'd come bother you." A hint of a smile. Inside he was still confused at how quickly everything had flipped, but seeing you smile at him, for him, because of him, calmed him down, let him accept it.
You laughed, a quiet, inhibited sound. "How kind of you," you retorted smartly, leaning up against the table in the middle of the room, arms crossed. "I've been bored, too. Everyone's being annoyingly careful today, they're putting me out of work."
He scoffed, but in Gally language that was basically a chuckle. "I'll go hammer my thumb to give you something to do, how about that?"
You grinned. "Works for me."
You paused for a beat or two, taking a moment to look at him. "Sit with me at dinner tonight?" you asked, just to fill the quiet because you already knew what his answer would be.
He just nodded, watching you back. He was leaning against the doorway now.
You kept looking at each other until you broke the silence again. "Thanks for coming to visit me. Made my day." You spoke these words casually, but inside your heart was racing, the bold, fearless vulnerability of your phrasing sending you into overdrive.
Gally blinked. Once, twice. He didn't say anything for more than a minute, but neither of you broke eye contact, both of your minds clearly lost in thought.
Right then, Gally was thinking about how badly he wanted to kiss you, to make his feelings for you known. But he was scared you'd laugh in his face, and in one second you'd take away the last month by saying it was all a cruel joke. He was paralyzed with fear for a few solid moments; then something snapped within him.
Gally took a step forward, then another, and then another. He kept going until he stopped about four inches from your face. His eyes searched yours, then flickered down to your mouth for a little more than a few seconds. He met yours with his again, giving you multiple chances to back away, to make a face and reject him, but you did no such thing. You just kept staring up at him, not shying away. And that was all the confirmation he needed.
The fear was gone now, replaced with a quiet bravado, as he leaned in to close the space between your lips, your chin between his forefinger and thumb. Gally kissed you softly at first, like he was afraid you'd break if he pressed any harder; but then you kissed back, and he sought more. More was what he got, for you matched his intensity. This was more than just a kiss, the both of you realized. This was a silent confession, the final gallon of water that broke the levee and sent everything crashing down in a flood. Everything you tried to ignore or understate was at the forefront of this kiss; no holds barred. There was nothing hidden between the two of you anymore. Everything was out in the open, and as scary as that felt, you were okay with that. Gally was okay with that. You were with each other, breathing each other in, and that was all that mattered. You would never need anything else in life, after this moment. Everything you had wanted, everything you never knew you needed, you found in Gally, and Gally found his within you.
thank you guys for reading my writing!! it means the world to me :)

Since the day the Box brought you upâthe first and only girl in the Gladeâyou and Gally had done way more than bump heads; you tried (metaphorically) to decapitate each other every day. Alby knew never to put the two of you together during chores except when absolutely, absolutely necessary. He didnât need any more fighting than he was already dealing with.
Today was the monthly occurrence of a new addition to the Glade, a boy every time (except for you).Â
The first night a Greenieâdiminutive of âGreenbeanâ, meaning a new kidâarrived in the Glade, there was a party of sorts. At these parties, Frypan always made plenty of food, and Gally his famous drink: a bizarre concoction of liquids he could find around the Glade that were fermented to result in a very, very high alcohol concentration. It tasted like death, but it livened you up and raised your spirits; the morning after drinking it, however, you would feel like death, too. A bonfire was always lit, and camaraderie among the Gladers ensued and increased as the night went on. Some boys would bang rhythmically on wooden crates, or sometimes sing, to make music. It was the one time all of the Gladers got to relax.
As Keeper of the Med-Jacks, Alby sent every new Greenie to you for an initial check-up, just to make sure they were adjusting properly. Today, this was the newest check-up: a boy of sixteen or so with tan skin and black hair named Ilan. He was tall, quiet. Scared and confused like all the new arrivals. But he was a sweet kid. Your examination went smoothly, and you even got him to smile a couple times. Â
Unbeknownst to you, Gally was within earshot of the infirmary the whole time, scowling as always, listening in on your examination. As if he was checking to make sure you were safe, and the Greenbean was treating you right. When he saw Ilan smile at you, his jaw clenched so hard a muscle ticked visibly in his cheek. A couple people passed by and shot Gally weird looksâbehind his back, of course; no one besides you was brave enough to do such a thing where he could see them.Â
After youâd dismissed Ilan to go and complete his tour of the Glade, you had your back turned to the door as you organized the materials on your shelves. Clint and Jeff werenât in the shack, then, and you didnât know where they were. Thatâs why, at the sound of footsteps approaching, you assumed it was one of them coming back.
âHey,â you said over your shoulder without looking, thinking it was one of your colleagues. âMind helping me with some organizing?â
Upon hearing no response, you turned around. You were met with the sight of Gally standing in the middle of the shack, arms crossed and glaring as always.
You sighed. âWhat now?â
He didnât say anything, just kept staring.
âWhat? Jesus, donât just stand there and glare at me like a psycho.â
He scoffed. âI was just coming in here to make sure you were actually working.â Lie. He just wanted to hear your voice, but he was a master of disguising his true feelings and intentions.
âOh, thank God!â you exclaimed sarcastically, putting a hand to your heart dramatically. âWhatever would I do without you, shank?â
His eyes narrowed even more (if that was still possible). âDonât take that tone with me.â
âIâll take whatever damn tone I please! Do you seriously have nothing better to do with your life than to make mine a living hell every second youâre alive and breathing?â
âOh, donât flatter yourself, shank. My life is the furthest it can possibly be from revolving around you.â
âAre you sure?â You asked, feigning concern. ââCause, I swear, all you do is barge in and get on my fucking nerves!â
âNo. Iâm just making sure you arenât in here klunking around because some of us actually appreciate order.â
âExcuse me?â You couldnât help the way your voice raised, just slightly. âIâm a goddamn Keeper, same as you. Newt and Alby donât give those roles out freely, in case you havenât heard. Iâve earned every second of my title and Iâve poured blood, sweat, and tears into all of my work since Iâve gotten here. I live to work, to take care of this whole entire Glade, and you come in here accusing me of slacking off."
You scoffed. "There sure is something wrong in your head, Gally, âcause your judgement is the most impaired Iâve ever seen. Get out."
Gally would never admit this aloudânever, ever, everâbut hearing you yell at him like that did it more for him than anything else he could think of. He liked seeing you get so worked up over him; in fact, he usually only came to bother you so you would raise your voice at him, to hear what he longed for.
Yes, clearly, he had some problems that needed working out. But in his own, weird, Gally way, it was sort of sweet. Sort of.
He scoffed again. âFine. Screw you.â
Oh, he meant that.
âNext time youâre hurt, Iâm letting you bleed to death. Get. Lost.â The emphatic bite to your words was, at first, for an act but morphed into embarrassment by the end of your sentence, embarrassment from losing your temper. You were better than that, but you couldn't help the way he got under your skin 24/7.
He just glared at you for a second more before turning on his heel and leaving. In that moment you couldnâtâve cared less where he was going; you had half a mind to hope heâd get hurt while doing so, and half to wish he didnât so you wouldnât have to see him again.
       - - - - - - - -
Later, at the bonfire, Gally was up to his usual antics: fighting people in his stupid circle game, in which he and another lucky Glader would stand within a circle and try to push each other out. (Or, in Gallyâs words, âI try to push [someone] out of the circle, and [they] try to last more than five seconds.â That was Gally: the humblest one in the Glade.) Someone (ahemGallyahem) thought it would be a good idea to get Ilan into the circle, to âsee what the new kid was made ofâ. You thought it was rather cruel, but, of course, Gally wouldnât listen to you, so all you could do was watch.
In the beginning, the game went as it usually did. Gally, being of a naturally tall and strong stature, dominated within the first thirty seconds, almost shoving the Greenie out at least twice. It got violent, though, when Ilan started to fight back; he managed to land a few punches on Gally, one in the face and a couple hard blows to the side and chest. Once Gallyâs initial shock wore off, he wasted no time in retaliating. For every successful punch Ilan threw, Gally hit him back at least three times more with double the force. By the end, Ilan was almost unrecognizable after he landed on his back outside of the circle. Before you and Clint got to him (Jeff was too drunk to help), Gally hissed at Ilan, quiet enough so only the other boy could hear, âYou. You stay the hell away from her. You hear me, shank? Stay away.â You could hear the blood rattling and shifting behind his teeth, through his words.
Gally thought no one other than Ilan had heard what he'd said. But you heard it clear as day. That messed with your head a second too long before you snapped out of it and ran to the Greenie lying on the ground, glaring at Gally with a clenched jaw. âYou have a problem, man,â you sneered. âIâm surprised this kid is breathing.â
âOh, come on. Relax. I was just having a little fun.â
âYou disgust me.â You glanced back down at Ilan, whose face was streaked with blood and dirt. âCan you walk?â You murmured, shaking his shoulder gently to get him to open his eyes.
He just nodded once, sharply, and grabbed onto your arm for support. You and Clint helped him up carefully, making sure he had an arm around each of your shoulders before starting to walk him back to the infirmary.
       - - - - - - - -
After you and Clint finished taking care of Ilan and the shack was empty, you stood with your blood-stained hands tucked underneath your crossed arms, gazing out at the night blankly.Â
âYou okay?â Clint asked, watching you with a furrowed brow.Â
âYeah,â you answered idly; you blinked once or twice to refocus your vision, to remove yourself from your stupor. âIâll tell you about it tomorrow. Right now, I need to find Gally. He probably broke a rib.â
If anyone asked, your concern for Gally's well-being was purely clinical. ("The worst lies are the ones we tell ourselves," the voice in your head rang out as you thought that; the quote popped up, visible and at the forefront of your mind, the way most of your memories from before the Glade did.)
Without another word, you stepped out into the courtyard, scanning the moonlight-bathed Glade for the Keeper of the Builders. The fire was still ablaze, and many had yet to retire for the night, enjoying the rare down-time. You knew Gally was still out there somewhere.
Approaching Newt first, your closest friend in the Glade, you asked monotonously, âSeen Gally lately?â
He furrowed his brow, confused at your asking of such a thing. âNo. Why?â
âI need to treat him. I know he got injured in the fight, too. Probably broke his nose.â
He nodded once, still slightly unconvinced. âAh. Well, good luck getting him into that shack. Heâd probably choose to go through The Changing again before willingly going anywhere with you.â
You snorted. âProbably. See you.â
You glanced around the fire, looking for the next person to ask of Gallyâs whereabouts, before something caught your eye.
Halfway across the courtyard, sitting against the outside wall of the Box, was none other than Gally himself.
You sighed to yourself before begrudgingly making your way over to the boy, still with that permanent scowl on his face.
âGet up,â you said simply, once youâd gotten close enough for him to hear you.
âWhat?â he asked, dazed slightly like he had just been shaken out of deep thought.
âI said get up,â you echoed, now standing at his feet. âI know you got hurt in that fight, too. I heard the punches Ilan landed on you.â That wasnât all youâd heard.
âIâm fine,â he replied stubbornly, now fully sober.
âNo, youâre not. Donât make me ask again.â
He glared up at you for a moment before complying, a wince on his face as he rose from the ground.
Going into Med-Jack mode, you frowned. âWhat hurts?â
Gally clenched his jaw. âEverything.â
You whistled lowly, a dragged-out note, now getting a good look at him in the moonlight. âNo kidding. Now come on before you start hemorrhaging.â
You didnât wait for him to start walking before you began to make your way back to the infirmary.
âWhat does that mean?â he asked; you could hear the scowl on his face.
âItâs when damaged blood vessels cause massive blood loss, usually fatal. Can be either internal or external.â You threw a glance at him over your shoulder. âIn your case, Iâd say internal. Sounded like Ilan mightâve broken one of your ribs.â
âHa-ha,â he replied, deadpan as always. âWhatâs your obsession with this new kid? Youâve said his name, like, ten times in the last thirty seconds.â
âThere isnât one. And Iâve said it twice because, unlike you, I prefer to see people as human beings instead of punching bags, therefore choosing to call them by their names.â
âYouâre real funny, you know,â he grumbled. âMaybe you were a comedian before the Maze.â
âYeah, yeah. Iâm still smarter than you.â
     - - - - - - - -
Inside the medical shack, you ordered politely told Gally to sit on the table in the center of the room. After gathering your materials (what you called the "Fight Box"), consisting of gauze; a needle and thread; pain-killing and anti-swelling ointments; a stethoscope; and low-grade medical tape; you turned back to the boy on the table.
In that moment, in all the moments like it where a Glader was injured, all your feelings (antipathy and love, alike) toward the boy requiring care were put on the backburner, replaced by a clinical and dutiful responsibility to do your job. Gally's case was no exception, despite the conflicting emotions regarding the boy you had always harbored.
See, here's the thing. You fought Gally tooth and nail almost constantly, always yelling at and insulting him when the chance to arose. You said you hated him, believed it yourself; but there was often a nagging feeling in the back of your mind whenever you laid your eyes on him. A lingering, confusing, absolutely maddening curiosity. You wanted to know him in a way that didn't involve screaming or crude epithets; you wanted to see what his smile looked like. You wanted to hear his voice be softer than usual, the way lovers speak quietly to each other at night in the dark. You just wanted peace, and maybe love if you could get it.
But Gally was Gally, you knew; he was stubborn. Like hell he'd change for anyone, let alone someone he claimed to despise. But what about what he'd whispered to Ilan? What did that mean, what did he want it to mean? Why did he say it right then, with blood spilling from behind his lips and bruised ribs and broken knuckles? Why did he have to fight to say it?
Your brain was a whirlwind of thought after thought as you organized what you would need for your examination. After taking a deep breath, you cleared your throat and broke the silence that had settled above your heads.
"Tell me where it hurts. Pain level 1-10 for each spot."
He clenched his jaw, not liking the idea of talking so much; then he remembered he'd gotten punched there during the fight, and the pain rushed through him again.
He sighed, avoiding your gaze. "My knuckles, the right ones. Eight. My left side, six. Jaw, five. Nose, nine."
You whistled quietly. "That bad, huh?" you asked rhetorically. You picked up the stethoscope and put the ends in your ears, lifting his shirt gently to put the listener on his chest, right near his lungs. "In. Deep."
He obeyed silently, straining to hold the pain back. His brows were furrowed in his classic scowl, but in his eyes you could see how he was really feeling.
You made a face as you concentrated hard. Good breath sounds. Shallow but steady.
"Good news is, no collapsed lung. Probably just some bruising along your ribs and side."
He just nodded once, curt, to the point. Biting his tongue so he wouldn't say the wrong thing.
"Does it hurt to breathe?" you asked, tilting your head slightly.
"A little," he answered simply. "Only deep breaths, though."
You nodded. "Probably just bruising, causing the pain. If it was with all breathing, that would be bad."
He just stared at you, giving no visible sign he'd even heard you. No surprises there, but it was still as frustrating as always.
You blinked once or twice before going back to your work. Tough crowd, you thought to yourself.
You grabbed the gauze and pain ointment from the nearby box, beginning to apply the natural oils to his knuckles.
He sucked a sharp breath through his teeth, doing nor saying nothing more to suggest he was in pain.
You just kept working, deciding words would only worsen things. You knew he hated them, anyway, though he always had plenty for you.
You only spoke when you felt you had to explain something to him, which wasn't often, since most of the medical care was straight-forward first aid.
After he was all patched up and bandaged, you stepped back and gathered your materials. "You're good," you said, concluding this brief period of amicability. "Come back once a day for bandage change, don't want to get a bad infection."
He just nodded, glaring as always, but there seemed to be tiny specks of... gratitude in his eyes.
That caught you off guard, and you forgot to breathe for a few good seconds. Then you snapped out of it, crossing your arms. "Feel better, okay?"
That was the first nice thing you had ever said to him.
Internally he was shocked. His heartbeat faltered for a moment from its usual, steady rhythm, and his pupils dilated ever so slightly, imperceptibly so.
He swallowed and nodded again. "Yeah," he said roughly. "Thank you."
And then he walked out.
You stood in the doorway and watched him stalk back to the Homestead, obviously retiring early for the night. You pulled your arms tighter across your chest, like you were cold; you weren't. You were scared of what feelings were changing in your heart for Gally, the stoic, acerbic Keeper of the Builders. You were confused because weren't you supposed to hate each other? Hate wasn't the warm, quiet, comfortable feeling that spread through your chest now, at the thought or sight of him. Hate was cold and flat, static, usually unwavering; this was changing with every passing second, felt sharply unusual in your chest, like it had a shape. Your mind was swimming as you stepped back into the infirmary to clean up for the night.
After you were done, you realized this: Gally had wedged his way into your heart, out of nowhere, and you weren't upset about it.
i might do a part two for this, i'm obsessed with this dynamic. let me know what you guys think!!!

One of the first and his favorite things Spencer Reid noticed about her was her tendency for concrete routine. This mostly showed in her eating habits; she ate the same thing for lunch every day. The same salad, same drink, and so on.
She took her coffee exactly the same every time: two packets of sugar, two teaspoons of cream. She could tell when something about it had changed, and if that happened she wouldnât drink it.
Whenever the team went out for drinks after a successful case, she always ordered a Modelo with lime. Never anything else.
She also wore the same clothes on certain days of the week: on Monday, it was black pants and a fuchsia blouse, Wednesday grey pants and a sky blue sleeveless blouse with a blazer matching the pants, and Friday navy blue pants and an emerald blouse. Tuesdays and Thursdays never followed a pattern. She wore the same black heels every day, no matter what.
Oh, the color of her fingernail polish was on a schedule, too. The first week would be a dark, glittery, almost maroon purple; the second a ruby red, and the third a baby pink.
Everyone on the BAU team loved her especially Spencer; but they all thought she was a little odd, for her rigid habits.
Not Spencer, though. He thought it was the most endearing thing heâd ever seen. He loved everything about her, but this was by far his favorite. It meant she was similar to him.
One time, Morgan had asked what day it was. Spencer glanced at her for a split second and then replied, âWednesday.â She was wearing the blue shirt.
âââ
Spencer remembered a day where her routine finally broke.Â
It was a Monday, fuchsia day. But she was wearing a yellow shirt and grey pants.
Spencer walked into work, saw the colors of her clothes, and was confused. Today was Monday, wasnât it? No, it couldnât be. She wasnât wearing the pink shirt.
His desk was right across from hers. What a lovely coincidence!
âUh, hey,â he greeted, setting his bag down and studying her. âWhat day is it today?â
âUm,â she hummed, looking down at the calendar on her desktop. âMonday the fourteenth. Why?â
Spencer blinked. âUm," he hesitated. "You're not wearing pink. You always wear the pink shirt on Mondays."
She raised an eyebrow, thought for a moment, and realized.Â
âOh,â she whispered quietly, to herself. âYou noticed?â
He chuckled sheepishly, a hand rubbing the back of his neck; he was still standing. âEssentially,â he replied noncommittally. âSorry if thatâs weird. You know my brain.â
She laughed. âYes, I do indeed know your brain. Iâm not offended, donât worry. Iâm honestly kind of flattered you even paid enough attention to notice something that insignificant about me.â
âFlattered?â he echoed, looking a little confused. âItâs just a basic observation. A relatively simple pattern.â
âWell, yeah. But most people donât notice stuff like that about me. They just kinda⊠talk to me like Iâm a brick wall with no human traits. Sometimes. So it just shocked me when you noticed and all.â
âNo, they donât,â Spencer said reflexively. Surely she was just exaggerating. He paused to watch her facial expressions. âOh. They do, huh? Iâm sorry. I try my hardest to do the opposite.â He smiled a little.
It was her turn for confusion.
She smiled back anyway. âThank you. For taking the time to notice.â
He shrugged. âNo problem. I don't mind.â Inside his ribs his heart was hammering. He was positive his nerves were visible on his face, but in that moment, talking to her, he couldn't bring himself to care.
âI'm glad.â She paused, watching him for a moment. âYouâre way cool, SpeâReid. Youâre way cool.â
He smiled a little more at her almost-slip-up, hands in his pockets twitching with the rising desire to touch her hair. âThanks. Same to you.â

After a particularly successful case, the team all went out for a drink.Â
She got a Modelo with a slice of lime, of course, and Spencer just got a soda. She drank hers relatively fast; by the time half an hour had passed, she had already drunk three. She was tipsy, but not too crazy: mostly a giggling and relaxing her shoulders kind of tipsy. She wasnât always super social, but by no means a recluse; it was just that when she drank, she let loose a little and stopped thinking so much about what others perceived her as.
A little of the way into her fourth, a song came over the barâs speakers as the previous one ended, one of her favorites.
Spencer, who was sitting next to her at the bar, saw the smile come over her face, the sight triggering one of his own. âWhat, you like this song?â he asked, as if he didnât already know the answer. He had to raise his voice a little to be heard over the music.
She laughed and took a swig of her beer before setting it down. âI love this song,â she replied, a little louder than necessary. Spencer didnât mind.
âIâm gonna go dance. Come on, youâre coming with me.â
It was his turn to laugh. âOh, no. I can't dance. Statistically, peer pressure has always had a negative impact on one's mental state, and I don't think that's something you'd want to do to me.â
âAww, come on, Spence,â she said with a small smile, knowing he wouldnât be able to resist her. âPlease?â
Spencer narrowed his eyes at her playfully before letting out a clearly exaggerated sigh and standing from his seat. âLetâs get this over with,â he muttered, taking her hand and walking her over to the dance floor. He was barely restraining a smile.
Morgan and JJ were at the bar, watching the exchange with great pleasure. When Spencer took her hand, Morgan whistled loudly. âThatâs it, Reid! See, man, I knew you had it in you!â
Spencer grumbled under his breath. âAsshole.â
She just giggled. She let go of his hand and began to danceâwell, not quite dancing. Just moving back and forth with a little bit of rhythm.
Spencer just smiled and shook his head, moving a little, too.
When the chorus came up, she sang quietly and happily along, not missing a word. Spencer would be lying if he didnât find that totally endearing and a little hot.
âYouâre in a good mood,â he commented amusedly, watching her with a controlled admiration, like he was trying not to come on too strong.
âOf course I am,â she replied, smiling. âIâve had three drinks, my favorite song is playing, and Iâm dancing with Spencer Reid. Why wouldnât I be?â
He raised an eyebrow but mirrored her expression anyway. âI make you happy?â
ââCourse you do. How could you not? Youâre amazing.â
He blushed just a little; the way he reached up and casually pushed a piece of her hair behind her ear contrasted greatly with the inkling of color on his face. âWell, same to you.â
She just laughed and kept dancing, too drunk to think about being flustered, or the weight of his gesture. They both moved the slightest bit closer to each other as each minute passed. Intentional? Who knows. They were two idiots, clearly in love, even if they didnât know it or want to admit it themselves.
A few songs, many laughs, and much heightening tensions later, she excused herself to the bathroom, saying something about how Spencer âshouldnât miss her while sheâs goneâ, except she called him âloverboyâ instead.
Spencer went back to wait for her at the bar, smiling just barely as he took a sip of his drink.
Morgan, nosy as ever, slunk over to Spencer once she had exited the room, clearly in the mood for trouble. âNow what the hell did I just witness? Do you actually have game, pretty boy?â
Spencer scoffed. âI donât know what youâre talking about,â he returned stubbornly.
âUh, unless Iâm blind, I just saw you puttinâ the moves on her. I saw how close you two got. You canât fool me.â
âI donât know what youâre talking about,â he repeated emphatically, though he couldnât restrain a smile.
Morgan laughed. âYou sly dog. Teach me your ways.â
âHaha,â Spencer deadpanned, hiding an actual laugh in his drink.
âYou really like her, donât you?â This time, Morgan was being completely serious.
He just swallowed, taking a minute to plan out his response. âYeah,â he said quietly, which was the plain and honest truth. âI think I love her, Derek.â
âGoddamn, Reid. Youâre in deep, arenât you?â Rhetorical question.
Before he could answer, she emerged from out of the bathroom, still smiling a little. âWhatâre you boys talking about?â
âNothing, sweetheart. Don't worry your pretty little head about it,â Morgan replied, teasing as always; there was an amused expression on his face, like he was deliberately hiding something. Obviously he was.
ââWow. Still on the patronizing kick, I see. I'm disappointed in you, Morgan.â
âOh, that stings. Iâm hurt, really, I am.â
âGo piss up a flagpole.â She laughed, anyway, even though her comment was particularly dismissive.
âAlright, alright. I know when Iâm not wanted,â he receded, that stupid ass, trademark smirk of his on his face. âThough my boy Spencer here doesnât know anything about that, does he?â
âIgnore him,â Spencer interjected, pushing Morgan away with a small chuckle. âGo on, get out of here.â
She watched him walk back over to JJ.
Once she made eye contact with Spencer, she burst into a peal of giggles.
âOh, come on. Are you that drunk? Whatâs so funny?â He was amused.
âNothing, nothing. Iâm just drunk. I could use another, though.â
âOh, no, you couldnât,â Spencer said, laughing, though he was being serious. There was that protectiveness. âYouâre cut off, angel. No more for you.â
âAnd who are you? My father? I didnât think so. I donât take orders from you.â She was still giggling.
âWell, maybe you should. Statistically Iâm always right.â
âYou canât just use statistically randomly in a sentence. That defeats the entire point of the word.â
âI can do whatever I want. I have free will.â
âYou make me tired.â She shook her head, but there was a bright smile on her face.
A small bout of silence fell over the two, but it was unlike others of its kind. It wasnât awkward, not at all. It was just⊠breathing. Two peopleâvery clearly in love with each other, to an observing eyeâjust taking a moment to breathe. Spencer couldnât tell, but she had synced her breathing patterns with his. It made her feel closer to him, like he was what was keeping her alive. In all honesty, he was.
âTell me something,â Spencer abruptly said, gently breaking the quiet that had settled above their heads.Â
She just hummed at first, blinking a couple times to get out of her own head. âHuh?â she asked, but before he could respond, she said, âTell you what?â She heard him, her brain was just a little late at processing what he said.Â
He smiled. âSomething about yourself. Anything. Something I donât already know.â
âI can play the piano,â she offered, giving a small, hesitant smile, as if it was too trivial an answer to suit his question. âIâm no Mozart, by any means, but I like to think Iâm proficient at it. Itâs fun. I taught myself when I was⊠what, fifteen? Yeah, I think fifteen.â
He raised his eyebrows, surprised. âFifteen? Thatâs a little late to learn an instrument.â
With a shrug, she replied, âI already had experience with reading music and understanding rhythms and all. I had been in band since fifth grade. Age ten to eighteen, I was in band. It was one of the best experiences of my life; I love music, you know that. But it, for some reasonâmusic, I meanâwas just a little better, when I could understand more about what went into making it, how it worked. Does that make any sense?â
âPerfect sense,â he murmured, smiling at her again. âI never learned anything remotely music related. Iâm a science and math person, myself. But I have a great respect for people who can play it or write it. Itâs hard.â
âSeriously. Iâm lousy at writing, but I think Iâm an okay player. Itâs fun, thatâs what I like most about it; it makes me feel smart to understand something so complex. You know?â
âI know,â he echoed, giving a nod. âYouâre so interesting, angel. Honestly. You fascinate me.â
She scrunched up her nose a little, like she didnât quite believe or understand him. âI fascinate you? How? Iâm not exactly extraordinary.â
âItâs hard to explain. But I can always see your mind working; youâre so smart. Different from anyone else Iâve ever met.â He paused, smirking a little. âAnd youâre gorgeous, too. That helps.â He had clearly been spending too much time with Morgan.
âYou think?â she asked quietly, not to any particular part of what Spencer had said. She gave him a small, pleased smile.
âYes, I do. To both comments.â
âYouâre sweet, Spencer,â she murmured. âThank you.â
He just smiled back at her. âYou donât have to thank me for stating the truth.â
That night was the first time in a long time Spencer Reid had felt so close to another human being; he knew he'd remember that night for the rest of his days.
thank you for reading!! have a wonderful day <3
