Trev felt intensely aware of the brunette as she neared, there was a way about her that seemed incredibly calculated. It felt comical to relate Ivy to a spider, but it felt accurate, even her furtive glance reminded him of weaving a web, waiting for someone to trip up and get entangled in the strands of it. He kept his own smile reserved and friendly, he had no desire for the bite of a black widow. He scratched at Chowderβs side, jostling him a little in order to keep the small dog sated and settled. βHeβs my friendβs sisterβsβ weβre surrogates for the week while sheβs off on vacation.β Theyβd welcomed the small dog into the Ottenheimer family home, glad for the challenge and the distraction. While Lee and Ari didnβt outwardly care much for the little creature, Trev had taken to him easily, adoring the attention that the dog and his short legs garnered, as well as having a companion with him on his walks around the gated community. Her confirmation made his lips curve upwards further, as if tugged up by invisible strings. βThought so.β Hazel eyes studied her own, as if he had the ability or talent to glean anything off of the reflection in her irises. βThat yours, or are you just borrowing it off daddy?β He wasnβt surprised that she remembered what it was that he drove, he was showy about it; leaning out of the window to chat and idling in the driveways outside of parties. βGreen hell magno,β he riddled off, his lips curving. βBut Iβm thinkinβ bout getting it wrapped. Chromeβs a fun change.β
when ivy had been younger she remembered begging her father for a pet whenever the holidays came around. it was only when she had become old enough, and clever enough, that her father was afraid sheβd simply come home with an animal in her arms one day that heβd agreed she could have one. heβd asked her if sheβd wanted a dog or a cat and sheβd answered neither. she wanted a wolf. like most childish fantasies the notion had fizzled out. ivy had abandoned the desire to own a wolfΒ ββββ instead it seemed sheβd become one. β itβs amazing she trusts youβll give him back. iβd steal him.Β β her grin is conspiratorial, whether or not her words rang true a mystery. when his smile broadens ivy's tempted to mirror it, the way he keeps her gaze thrilling her just the tiniest bit, her teeth sinking into her bottom lip for just a moment. she wonders if he was searching for something in particular, some hidden truth, or if he was simply peering back at himself through her. every man was different, and it struck her in the moment she's curious about which type he might be.Β β you mean like all the other park avenue princesses parading around this placeΒ ?Β β she questions with an arched brow, the tilt of her head like a silent noise of disapproval, an invitation to compare her to those girls and then work out what heβd done wrong. β i donβt like sharing.Β β it was a simple answer, lips curling into what was almost a smile. she was disappointed. it was a small letdown, usually enough to snuff her interest out like a flame,Β but she'd forgive him because of that strong jaw. she almost lets out a laugh.Β β you seem to like being seen,Β β ivy says, eyes flashing in the darkness. painted lips tug upwards.Β Β β ββββ does it excite you ?Β β
