22nd December 2019, cold morning, light snowflakes drizzled like flowers from heavens. If not for the freezing cold, it looked almost ethereal.
I usually wake up late in winter mornings because well ..it's Christmas holidays and who likes to wake up just to be frozen for no reason?
But that morning was unusual.
As I tugged the blanket higher to my face,
A shrill jolt of doorbell rang through the otherwise empty home and pierced straight into my sleep ladden brain.
I abruptly sat up with a cry of surprise-, unevenly breathing and trying to focus on the world via my bleary eyes ...
I sat on bed, waiting for a call, however
No doorbell followed. And left me deeply suspicious.
It was also a news that those days, the number of crimes had increased.
Warily, I stepped out of my bed, the cold floor stinging my warm feet as it made contact.
Somehow, I made it downstairs
And peeped through the window.
Until suddenly, I notice an envelope on my doorstep.
Realisation dawns on me, that was just the postman delivering posts.
Still, it was unusual for them to do the job this early.
I open my door, the white outside kissing my warm skin and eyes.
Bending down, I pick it up.
It was decorated with yellow Rose foliage...my favourite.
Hope this letter finds you lovely like the sunshine you are in winter mornings...
Ivy, I just want to say I have always loved and adored you with a devotion a swan has for his mate.
An adoration a lark hearts for springs
A longing with which a partridge stares upon the moon.
I sincerely beg your pardon for whatever you had to go through all alone.
The painful days in college...
you used to walk all on your own through the corridors, while others would giggle and enjoy each other's company..
I noticed that. You know?
The hurt you felt when your brilliant proposal in presentation got ignored by the council of students, just because they couldn't tolerate someone outside the positions giving suggestions. It was so enraging and condescending of them!
The times you had to skip prom nights, feigning that those things don't amuse you, while in reality, you had no one trustworthy enough to go to prom with...
I should have been there... At every little step, supporting you, appreciating you loudly, loving you and apparently being courageous enough to show it...
But I am a fool, and a coward.
Too coward to have made a move when I had time to.
One day, I was diagnosed with blood cancer.
Doctors told me I had not much time.
That's when I realised what opportunities had I lost forever...
Because of my cowardice..
Immature of me, unkind of me, even more so cowardly of me, foolish of me I know. I knew no better..
And now, sitting in the hospital bed, with my head with no strands left, pen shaking in my wrist due to ebbing strength..I realise what I did,
And what I needed the most instead in my last moments.
It hurts, deeply, you know.
Also you deserve too...to know.
By the time you would be reading this, I'll be long gone..
Well, on a closing note, I want to say
My love, I have always loved you and so I shall always for an eternity now and ever.
Keep shining like the bright sun you are, and march forth with your head held high in that pride that has always stolen my heart beats.
Succeed, live a life with someone you ...love. and smile
That's how I will feel peace.
Thanks for all the loveliest days you made out of my boring life. I shall always sing in reminiscence
My hands tremble, my knees felt weak,
A cold sweat in snowy day rolls down my temple, my breaths shallow.
Because I knew exactly which corridors he meant,
However, there was no Orion in my college.
(Not self insert, i was too lazy to think of another name lol)
