When The Doctor runs around the TARDIS, legs flying into the air to grapple his trainers ‘round a lever and hold it down to help pilot, Jack still feels a thrill that tickles him down to the core. He laughs as the ship starts to land and his partner is spinning madly around the console and tapping down a few switches to stop the main ships humming. They had spent some time apart recently, with Jack hiking through a planet laden with anti gravity trails, and a neat Japanese inspired spa at the end (many centuries and universes after Japan had existed). But being back together gave them new excitement, and after a fun night of “reuniting” - a night consisting of dramatic story-telling by the Doctor, and Jack barely able to plant small kisses on his cheeks when he could get him to settle down enough to tell him he was missed- they had decided to delve further into one particular solar system they had both been investigating.
“L-....La-ah-ck?” Jack stutters, attempting to sparse what little Galifreyan he had been slowly learning on the consoles monitor. “Uncharted. Uninhabited?” He went on, guiding himself through the alien language with his finger to the screen and flashing a sloppy smirk his lovers way as if to compliment himself on his new skill. “Okay so Lauqe. Ya know if it’s really uninhabited, then we’re gonna have a lot of time to ourselves.” He teases, already starting to daintily walk backwards toward the main doors, hands folded behind his back.
When he open the doors, a rush of dark comes into his vision, and neon clears the haze at the end of a tunnel. In a moment he realizes he’s in an alleyway, brick buildings wedging the TARDIS in tight. A group of people walk past and laugh loudly, seemingly enjoying a night out, and Jack whistles, shoving his thumbs under his suspenders. “Guess not...” he says. “Uninhabited my a-“
