Major? Or are you undeclared?
“Psychology.” - she had talked to far to many therapists, So if she needed to she might be able to mimic their bullshit.
It wasn’t me, I swear
justacatburglar:
“Just a lot of bad decisions on my part. I’m not exactly great at staying out of trouble.”
“Well, I had already figured that out already. I was expecting something more specific. But okay, noted. Don’t ask about bad shit.”
thedevilfromhellskitchen:
Jessica’s heart had already been beating fast during their conversation, but it suddenly and drastically started pounding faster, “Jessica?” Panic. She was having a panic attack, or starting to. He wondered if it had been something he said or if she had just reached her limit, but that wasn’t important right now, “Jess. I’m here. It’s going to be okay. You’re okay.”
I took Jessica almost a whole minute to snap out of her anxiety attack, she slowly started to listen to Daredevil’s voice, as if he was far away and little by little came closer, until she finally saw Matt. She stepped back, scared, as she realized she was closer to the man than she wanted to be. Her eyes wet with tear, but not a single one daring to slip to her cheeks.
“He cannot be walking around freely. He is a fucking psychopath. He is freaking dangerous and no one at the police department believes me!” - she finally said in anger. She had been carrying those feeling around for a long time. “I know he might still be watching me and it’s driving me fucking insane. But I can’t just run. He will find me. He will find me and make me regreta every single step further I made him take. So what the fuck am I supposed to do?!”
She wasn’t angry at him for real. But she was tired of running. And without realizing she was speaking to loud, attacking some attention to them. She looked down in shame.
Cheers.
wilsonswings:
School, huh? Where do you go?
She looked at him for a fraction of a second in suspicious, she wasn’t sure if he would be okay drinking by a minor, and as far as Jessica was okay with drinking alone, it was nice to have company for a change. “CUNY” - she made it out on the last minute.
Why’d you text me so late?
argentumpietro:
…Wait, are we breaking into the school to change your grade or something?
“I said ain’t flunking on that test, Pietro. You can either help me and be my hero or walkaway and pretend nothing happened.” - Jessica teased and watched his face carefully, curious on how he would react. - “I just need you to do your magic and get the test answers, put everything back in place and walk away before somebody catches us. This should be a piece of cake.”
It wasn’t me, I swear
justacatburglar:
“Yup.” He watched as the bartender refilled their glasses, clearly eyeing them curiously. It was a little early for this much drinking, but it really wasn’t any of his business.Â
“So, Scott.” - she emphasized his name as she playfully traced her cup with her index finger. - “You’ve already added day drinking and Christmas Tree Wrecking to the list of reasons why you ain’t seeing your kid today, but I have the feeling those were not your only reasons. ”
It wasn’t me, I swear
justacatburglar:
Scott threw his drink back all at once. “Yeah I don’t really do toasts.”
Jessica chuckled and followed Scott’s exemple.
“I’m adding you to the list of my favorite people today, hm, Scott, right? That’s your name.” she put the empty cup on the table to be refilled.
It wasn’t me, I swear
justacatburglar:
Scott grinned and turned the bartender who was handing them their drinks. “We’re gonna need another round.”
"See? Now you got me.” she got her tequila and looked back at Scott. “Any particular reason for a toast?”
It wasn’t me, I swear
justacatburglar:
Scott ordered a beer as he grinned at her. “You mean my knocking over a Christmas tree wasn’t enough to make you like me?”
“That was pretty impressive, but opening a tab in someone else’s name is the kind of man I like the most.” She said almos whispering to his ear, so the bartender couldn’t listen to them.
Cheers.
wilsonswings:
Well, since I just met you I’m gonna have to take your word for it.
“Common, you already know me better than most people on school. They are jest a bunch of pricks.” she didn’t care all that much if the man knew she was underage. As far as the drinks would keep coming. Plus, she could be talking about uni.
and then there’s the matter of your bill.
thedevilfromhellskitchen:
“He targeted you. I get your rage. But one, seeing him again might not do you any good, two, he might be even waiting for you already. Maybe this is exactly what he wants,” He wasn’t an easy man to find, but Matt had been trying. He couldn’t dedicate full time to it, seeing as how crime didn’t take a night off at Hell’s Kitchen, but he was. He shook his head with slight exasperation at Jessica’s claims, “I care. But we need to be smart about this. You need to be smart about this or it’s all gonna end badly.”
Jessica took a deep breath. She could feel her heart pounding desperately inside her chest every time he was mentioned. She looked down to the floor trying to calm herself down, her right leg stumping against the floor repetitively.
“Birch Street, Higgins Drive, Cobalt Lane...” - She repeated the name of the street in her childhood memories, one of the few techniques that her therapist had recommended and actually helped. She waited for the thoughts on how he could be waiting for her to go away. She closed her eyes for a moment. Daredevil was right, they had got to be smart, and being smart involved not having panic attacks.
It wasn’t me, I swear
justacatburglar:
Scott pulled Janet’s card out of his pocket and handed it to the bartender, opening up a tab. “I suppose so.”
“You know what; I am starting to realize I like you.” - she said and then ordered whatever artesanal tequila they had got.
Cheers.
wilsonswings:
I think it’s pretty straightforward.
“So maybe I’m just dumb.” - she chuckled.
thedevilfromhellskitchen:
Matt raised his eyebrows, “Jessica, I trust you. Believe me, I do,” He could tell she was telling the truth, or at least that she thought she was telling the truth, and that was enough for him. Despite the hard edges, Matt knew Jessica was a good girl. However… “I just don’t think you should be actively seeking out this guy, especially if he’s as dangerous as you make him sound. I’m not saying you have to hide either, but looking for him? I don’t know.”
“You should know better than that. I can’t leave that crazy maniac walking around New York, there are things and people I want to protect.” - honestly Jessica was starting to lose patience, Daredevil; Matt was starting to sound just like Trish. She rolled her eyes impatiently. - “You know what? Fuck this. This was a terrible idea. I’m sorry I thought you could help me. You obviously don’t give two fucks about me or what’s going on.”
Why’d you text me so late?
argentumpietro:
Your life? Aren’t you being a bit dramatic?
“I have to get at least a B in Algebra test, and I ain’t flunking so I need to spend one more year in this miserable place.”
