Now we know the meaning of both videos' titles
Spoilers for both videos!!!
When the first video came out, let’s be honest—the title didn’t seem to make any sense. I honestly thought it was named that way just because it sounded cool. I mean, “Searching for a world that doesn’t exist”? Neither Avery nor D3rlord3 were really “searching” for anything, let alone a world. And certainly not for something that doesn’t exist.
But now, with what D3rlord3 said while explaining to Avery what happened to him, the meaning behind the titles of the first and second videos clicked into place immediately.
The first part, “Searching for a world that doesn’t exist”
D3rlord3 was searching for and found exactly that without ever meaning to. He was looking for the end of the mysterious place he was trapped in, and that end turned out to be the King in Yellow—an entity with knowledge to give him. Without realizing it, he was searching for something that embodies a view of the world so vast, deep, and corrupted that it makes reality seem almost insignificant, nearly non-existent. He found a world that doesn’t exist: the understanding that his own world is, in that sense, nothing.
The second part, “Destroying a world that doesn’t exist”
When D3rlord3 first explains what happened, the reason for this title isn’t immediately clear—but by the end of the video, it becomes completely understandable. Derek chooses to become the King’s vessel, knowing it will destroy them both. By the end of this part, he is destroyed, killed, and along with him, so is what he came to know in the first part—the knowledge that wouldn’t leave his mind. At the same time, by fusing their minds, he also destroys the very embodiment of that corrupted worldview: the King in Yellow.
TL;DR
At the end of the first part, D3rlord3 gains a perspective in which his world feels so small and insignificant it’s practically nonexistent—by meeting the King in Yellow, the living embodiment of that mindset. In the second part, when D3rlord3 destroys them both, that worldview is destroyed along with them.
