Hedonist Frank Cotton purchases a mystical puzzle box known as the Lament Configuration in Morocco. Seeking the ultimate sensory experience, he solves the box in the attic of his London home. Instead of worldly pleasure, he summons the Cenobites—extra-dimensional, sadomasochistic beings who cannot distinguish between extreme pain and intense pleasure. The Cenobites instantly tear Frank’s body to shreds with hooked chains, dragging his soul to their torturous underworld.
