Hey business owners and entrepreneurs! How do you unplug? I just stopped myself mid-tracks today and realized that I don't ever take a break to just do things outside of my business. Now I should say first, I love my business and photography right now, almost more than anything else. It's my way of connecting and engaging with the world. I love responding to emails from strangers, with the potential of getting to know one another down the road face to face. I love meeting up with clients, and having our walls come down, and leaving being well acquainted with one another after a shoot. I love sitting in coffee shops, becoming a regular, and plugging away at editing while having exchanges with the familiar employees and surrounding people. I love the possibilities that photography opens up to connect and reach out to others - I think everyone has this possibility in whatever occupation they do, but as I speak for my own, I've finally found a level of comfort in this and am excited to be utilizing it. All that being said, unplugging is super important too. Although I try and keep up with emails and social media for my business side of things, I have found myself unplugging in other ways. I turned off my feed on facebook, turned off my vibration/alerts on my phone for texts or put it on airplane mode - but yet I still find it difficult to just be. Today though, I finally listened to my tired body, and read a book while drinking tea. Sounds simple, but as I was doing it, it took a lot to push away the feeling of needing to write to do lists and get back to emails. I find it hard to just be sometimes. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, at least not right now, because I'm really enjoying the growth that's happening within my passion for photography - but it is a bad thing when I realize I'm not listening to what I need in the moment anymore, or what will create balance in my life. So I would love to hear how you do you, whether that's as a business owner or just in everyday life distractions <3 .
Hollyyyy mollyyy - the sunshine is here. What a game changer it makes in NS. As someone I know mentioned the other day, although summertime is great - this is their favorite week of the year in our city. It may only say 14 degrees, but after our long grey winters - when we get consistent warmth that reminds us it's on it's way to stay, everyones mood is SO uplifted here. It seems like not a soul is inside. Happy Easter everyone!
These gloomy Halifax days are making me dream of warmer places. I don't want to get too excited yet - but the weather network says 17 degrees on Tuesday?!
