Real.
Caked-up rootlings
Sculpted and painted a set of rootlings for Turnip 28.
Far from perfect, but fun regardless. It's good to exercise.
Don’t think I’ve shared anything about this on Tumblr yet, but I painted up all but one of the official Trench Crusade models for the faction known as the Iron Sultanate! Don’t have an official assassin model but I got an alternative that’ll be painted up in the future (maybe not this month as I should be doing some yearly apocalypse prep)
Here’s some pictures I took while at a game store with them.
Look what I found in the sewers...
What's this?
It's Teenage Mutant Ninja Urbies!
Leonardo, the leader, in the stock UM-R60
Raphael, the strongman, in the up-gunned UM-R60L
Donatello, the nerd, with the Actuator-Enhanced UM-R27
Michelangelo, the party animal, with UM-R68's MRM boombox.
Anyone else craving pizza?
WIP post here with steps (though I wish I took more pictures along the way)
If GW had a dollar for every miniatures agnostic rulebook I had read...
...they'd still be trying to figure out ways to charge people more money for less plastic and make you pay for another codex again.
Gonna be honest, GW makes some of my least favorite games. I just don't get why you'd play Warhammer when you could play Turnip28, a Song of Ice and Fire, Bolt Action, Star Grave, Space Weirdos, If Worlds Collide, Godtear, Quar, Age of Hannibal, Five Parsecs from Home, Swill, Gaslands, Song of Blades and Heroes, Weasel Tech, CAV, Warmachine, Necro Molds, Dracula's America, Carnival, Black Powder, Bushido, Frost Grave, Battletch, Alpha Strike, Battle Troops, Gama Wolves, Malifaux, Lasalle, One Hour War Games, Heavy Gear, Monster Island, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Batman Miniatures , Oathmark, Burrows and Badgers, Guns of Liberty, Infinity, Delirium 28, Belloludi, Dread Night, Emu War, Conquest, Judge Dread, Don't Look Back, Kings of War, Bot Wars, Blood Bowl, War of the Republic, X-Wing, Star wars Armada, Star Wars Legion, Ogre, World of Tanks, Moonstone, In Her Majesty's Name, Xenos/ Lion / Dragon Rampant, Silver Bayonet, Hail Cesar, Necropolis 28, Lunar, Saga, Konflict 47, a mobile Frame Zero, Team Yankee, Sludge, Flames of War, or hell Grim Dark Future or Fantasy Skirmish?
Workbench Wednesday.
Still working on carving the tower tavern.
I am in love
a whole random bunch of Malifaux stuff to get caught up for 4th edition! now back to my other backlog (you know, Necromunda)
I know almost nothing about wargmes, but I wonder if there's a similar problem in that hobby with Warhammer as there is in the ttrpg space with D&D.
Like, I know other wargames exist like Malifaux, Infinity and old timey war reenactment wargames. But when I think about wargames, Warhammer is the first thing that comes to mind. It is the only wargame I've ever played. It occupies such a big space that it is easy to identify all wargames with Warhammer. I am sure Games Workshop is very proud of that.
And that's just the same problem we have in the ttrpg scene with D&D, with people new to the hobby thinking D&D is THE ttrpg and there's nothing else. We also have the problem that D&D as a game is... Quite lackluster at best and downright aggravating at worst. It is quite frustrating to see such an inane system hold that much spotlight to the detriment of a beautiful variety of indie(er) ttrpgs. Wizards of the Coast is very proud of that.
So that's what I am wondering. Is there a similar community of indie wargamers begging their fellow players to play a different wargame? Or is Warhammer a good enough game that the community is mostly ok with it being so famous?
Warhammer has an insane ground game, and there are enough ways to consume the IP outside of playing the (frequently kinda crap) main wargames (you can paint models, kitbash, read the novels, play the bazillion licensed video games, or play any of the spinoff specialist games like Necromunda, Adeptus Titanicus, Aeronautica Imperialis, Killteam, Legions Imperialis or Horus Heresy (and that's just what GW is currently supporting for 40k related games. Defunct/AoS/WFB stuff is even broader)) that people who play warhammer are often less wargamers and more people who play *a wargame* as an extension of their warhammer hobby/fandom.
A lot of folks I know who're invested in warhammer as an actual competitive game have at least one other game they like and would like more people to play with them (my Beau is pretty obviously battletech and I'm absolutely insufferable about it, but I'm currently painting a bunch of infinity models because another local really wants someone to play against), ooor they've got a wargame they loved that died while warhammer still lives and gives them a scene to play in. Warmahordes seems to be a frequent example of the latter. Because wargaming can be a fairly acquisitive hobby, if you aren't fully glued into the multimedia ecosystem warhammer builds, then eventually you'll probably pick *something* else up to experiment with
Well said! I started off more "all in" on Warhammer, but after a couple years really sought the creative and gameplay differences that anything else could give. Now I am way more in the camp of "Create First, Play Second (if ever)" so I am constantly putting small forces together for other games with the hope I will find a community for it or convince friends to play!
The Blacklight Sprawl ~ A Character Design Roll Table for Neon Sludge Cyberpunk Games
I love miniature kitbashing and miniature-agnostic games, so I was really enamoured with Forbidden Psalm, a skirmish game based on the ruleset of Mork Borg. It has a set of roll tables to help decide the look of your warband.
The designer, Will Rahman, has made a second skirmish game based on Cy_Borg, Kill Sample Process, but it doesn't have a character design generator, so I made one!
Use it with Cy_Borg, Necromunda, or honestly any cyberpunk game that benefits from a randomly generated blorbo. If you kitbash or draw anything using it, please show me!
If you want to check out my other Tabletop stuff, I have an Itchio!
The roll tables in text for those that need it below the cut.
I might make one of these today just to get the creative juices flowing again
Kitbashing the ship from the cover of Asteroids for the Atari 7800. Full video on YouTube
I haven't been able to paint for MONTHS, but the new house is set up enough I was finally able to last night.
PIGMENT HAS ONCE AGAIN TOUCHED PLASTIC. I AM RESTORED.
Whats even left to give marines for next edition???
Are they gonna make primaris flyers?
Are they gonna make a primaris unit with all grav weapons?
Is there gonna be a Gravis type of "dreadnaught" like the invictor tactical warsuit for phobos?
Consider: Roboute Guilliman model refresh
Thank god we got an entire lineup of assault terminators off the back of Calgar's 5th mini. I was worried the Drukhari's codex release window wasn't going to include any space marines
Been super busy with work but here's a friend and her street i painted up this evening when I got a break
Reblogging this because someone said something transphobic about this mini, and so Im gonna continue to be more and more visibly trans until it doesnt happen anymore!
Praying for the queerness to continue. I love this diorama!
Team RWBY (Food Fight)
THESE LOOK AMAZING
Said I was gonna start posting here more often and what better way to start than with the Ghostbusters?
I sculpted this crew for the 40th anniversary, then just so happened to be in New York City back in April. Couldn’t pass up the chance to shoot them in front of Hook & Ladder No. 8, the Ghostbusters HQ.
Each figure was sculpted using a Heroclix as a base while Greenstuff made up their hair, jumpsuits, and all their gear. Each figure was made to be as accurate as possible based on their Real Ghostbusters designs and they came out great. Now to see about making the Extreme GBs…
