Hi fun fact, colors do have meaning and there is a legit thing called color theory. Red does has more positive connotations than negative like the @mintymaiden said. Red is associated with more love, lust, passion than blood and death just like the chart shows you but If you want, here’s a link for you to check it out yourself. I like that the presumption here is that “No One On Tumblr Has Heard of Color Theory, Let Me Explain in Depth” rather than simply acknowledging that the VISUAL EFFECTS of this particular color choice, applied in the manner it was, can still amount to “this is a hospital and that looks like blood”

like, color theory doesn’t exist in a vacuum. If your design of choice for Blood Red Paint is asymmetric splatters and sploches against the wall, or in this case, a snail trail on the hallway’s floor, an infographic won’t override the viewers’ instinct.

Obsidian finally releases a new game, I might actually break my “no pre-ordering” pledge for this one. @thespectacularspider-girl you have any thoughts on it?

I try not to be hyped up about video game trailers any more but I’m going to break that streak because the BDE in this oh my god

The quirky old guy waking you up, asking if you’re feeling all right, feels like a callback to Doc Mitchell in a way, like, ‘remember the good Fallout? Yeah this is like the good Fallout’

They have a theme and it’s political and they’re telling us upfront - individuals vs faceless corporations, corporate branding taking a place over - is that not what Fallout is now? A load of branding pasted over something mediocre and that’s what they’re making the central conflict of their small-studio not-Bethesda game? The goddamn audacity. Plus, immediately indicating that people who think ‘games shouldn’t be political’ can fuck off

The absolute crunching on Bethesda after their Fallout 76 fiasco. Bethesda hobbled through their launch, stumbled tragically as bad reviews came in, tripped over a canvas bag, and thousands of customers’ private details spilled out of their pockets. And then Obsidian arrives and puts down a trailer. For a game that’s the same aesthetic - capitalistic branding juxtaposed against a crapsack world with funky creatures in it. Goggles and weapons and midcentury styles. But we know Obsidian can write. Obsidian can design satisfying narratives and memorable NPCs. Obsidian’s game looks way better than the Oblivion zoom-in conversation tech Bethesda is still using. Obsidian’s characters can emote to pull off jokes. Obsidian’s creature designs are fresh and interesting. They can make the Fallout we wanted, not a rehash, not an empty open world that throws franchise pieces at you and pretends to be an experience. 

Bethesda just got done showing us they assume we’ll stay on their nuka-cola teats forever because they put a Vault Boy on it, fell on their own face, and Obsidian waited til they were done and stepped forward and put down a trailer for a well-animated vintage-style character-based anti-corporate shooter and I am so excited

that post was right i wouldn’t have a sense of humor without spongebob. its still some of the goddamn funniest shit i’ve ever seen. spongebob almost dying because he’s too polite to ask for a glass of water at sandy’s house. mr. krabs and spongebob killing the health inspector. smittywerbenjagermenjensen. “I was born with glass bones and paper skin. every morning I break my legs. and every afternoon I break my arms.” the perfume department on the flying dutchman’s boat. that time spongebob cleared his mind to be a fine dining waiter and forgot his own name because that’s how customer service just BE. the ugly barnacle that was so ugly everyone DIED. the END. the one where squidward buys a pie but it’s actually a bomb. and the MUSICAL numbers like??? the fun song. the christmas song. tony award winning song “this grill is not a grill”. the entire band geeks episode like…this is all from the top of my head!!!!! just from the top of my head!!! there’s so much more!!! thank god for stephen and all the laughs i’ve had because of him.

I just noticed that even thought you're passionate about Fallout and Deathclaws and hanging around with Deathclaws in Fallout you still have no Deathclaw dragons

Honestly if I were to make a Deathclaw homage monster I’d want it in one of my more sci-fi-ish settings - preferably ATOM, since that just feels the most appropriate.  But the Deathclaw design is so iconic that it feels almost impossible to homage without just ripping it off entirely - it’s one of those “Aw fuck I wish I’d thought of that” monster designs.

Honestly? The Deathclaw’s been all over the place design-wise and it only really got somewhere “iconic” few years back with 4, and when the basic gist is still “Big manlizard that cut you so bad” you can very well spin something different out of it
