particularly of note I love the idea that we're getting a free core game map in Orr specifically to bridge back in time to GW3, and given that they're making a big deal out of the HoM 2.0 and the games will acknowledge each other... this might sound zany but what if your choices in GW3 Orr could pass something forward to this new Orr map 1250 years ahead?

i'm still in shock tbh. the dottore scaramouche confrontation was actually really good. Wanderer going straight for the (shared) jugular calling him "useless". "I thought you'd have gotten stronger, I forgot you had no way to increase your power" (without me, going unsaid). dottore's incredibly incisive taunt about scara not being able to make up for his past being worse for him. the way the quest really hammered it in that they are 2 guys equally tormented by the inescapability of the self. the fact that scaramouche was his beginning and his end, the source of his segments and there to watch those very segments drag dottore down to burn. they were always bound together by mutual self-hatred, but wanderer has been slowly learning to accept himself in sumeru and dottore's words no longer have any lasting impact on him, whereas only the most self-rejecting version of dottore remained, and that was what was ultimately his downfall. like. i think i have to go lie down

#genshin impact #genshin impact spoilers #yes exactly. i don't think i could've wanted anything more #i thought nod krai was their confrontation but no this hit the balance perfectly #the fact it happened in irminsul too- the last place scaramouche existed #the last place dottore existed #one removed from the world by his own internal self hatred #the other removed from the world by self hatred external and bitter and literal #the centuries dottore spent breaking scaramouche down into a parellel of himself that rejected connections and sincerity #the finality of wanderer clawing his identity back and flying up to embrace the world while dottore sinks under the weight of his crimes #not only is dottore's death at the hands of his own additional clones poetic justice and parallels with the real zandik's death #it wasn't something wanderer needed to do to win. he got to express his rage and disgust in person and took his friends and left #all he needed to do to win was show he'd chosen to not be like dottore and was fully outside of his control

I really really love in game music events but the guild wars 2 metal legion concert just blows the competition out of the water for me. the fact that it's integrated into the storyline for the area with the songs being in universe propaganda is fascinating and the event itself is like hands down the best and most fun way to do an event like that I've ever experienced. you spend the whole time trying to keep the show going which means constant chaotic mini events where you do things like jump in a moshpit or stand in for backup dancers or fix the exploding equipment while all the while beating back fans swarming the performers whose parts of the song will disappear if they get knocked out. it ends with you having to destroy a giant burning metal effigy of a dragon that will sometimes just pick you up into the air and chuck you into the crowd who are all giant cat people. everyone on earth download the video game guild wars 2.
