i know i haven’t been on here for a while and i should’ve said it sooner or at least update you all. i’ve been working out the writings that’re in my drafts, but recently (in the past couple weeks) my motivation to continue has been decreasing though there’s still a lot more % in me to write for you guys.. i am going to post content for you, i just haven’t been able to push myself to the maximum and trying to find that drive again to when i first started.

You didn’t keep track of the number of days ever since you entered the Palace. Contenders were too busy to know the time despite the whole search and purpose was to find suitable chefs to work with the Royal Family. As you sat by the window of room you stayed in, the empty beds of Umji and Yerin were at the corners of your sight when you remembered their saddened faces- they couldn’t enter the final round. “They were so so close.”
Only fragments of what had happened in the Main Course round were still fresh in your memories. All you remember was Hayoung was one of the contenders who got the top score. Mingyu introduced you to Taeyong and Jaehyun, who were from his town and came along to the assessment. And that was it.
Today was the day- the last round. You fixed your hair into a bun and wore whatever you could find in the closet. One final check and you went down to the Royal Hall. Mingyu and the other boys waited for you outside the Hall, along with two other figures your eyes have yet to adjust to.
“Hey y/n. Rested well?” Mingyu placed in hands onto your shoulders.
“Barely, it’s the final round. Who wouldn’t rest well?” you pointed your eyes and the rest did the same.
“Same. In fact we didn’t sleep at all.” Mingyu chuckled. “Ah good luck to us.”
“You could be more enthusiastic.” you gestured a thumbs up before heading to your work station.
There was something odd about the final round. Indeed it will be about desserts but, there were no audience. As you were all told, the final round was to be publicized to the whole country. What could be the change? The silence was deafening.
“It was back to the original system.” you turned around to see Hayoung with a letter in hand, holding it between her fingers.
“What?” Taeyong raised his brows.
“The final assessment would not be publicized. Until the announcement of the results, contenders should not show themselves and remain in the Hall.” she paused, her voice echoed the Hall. Confusion written all over Mingyu’s face when you took a quick eye contact.
“Basically the win-” you began but got cut off by the Royal Guard.
“We will begin in a few minutes.”
The “few minutes” he talked about was long and nerve-wrecking. Your feet tapped onto the tiled floor and your lips close to bleeding. The clock signaled the start and you began to run to the ingredient stall, grabbing whatever you could think of. You didn’t mean to look at everyone else’s progress but you couldn’t help but be curious.
Mingyu was too tall for you to take a glimpse on. Jaehyun, based on his ingredients, probably an egg custard. Taeyong? Chocolate bonbons. And Hayoung? A croquembrouche.
You spent the night thinking of a dessert that the Palace would appreciate. It could be anything. Not too general and not something that would stand out. A simple Nostalgia hit you saw powdered sugar. By then you already knew what you would be baking.

An hour passed and you just hoped this would work. Throughout the whole final assessment, there only the sounds of the utensils clashing and wrappers folded. Sighs came out of everyone, including you. Twenty seconds til’ the bell chimes and the assessment finishes. A little more sifting..
Done.
Cheers grew louder from the rest of you. Feeling accomplished, you all were told to went by the corridor until further announcement or results.
Mingyu approached you and you gave him a hug. “Good work y/n!”
“You too Mingyu!” you giggled. “Shall we grab lunch?”
“Duh, we gotta celebrate!” he pulled you to the Royal Canteen as he offered to order food for the both of you.
As you sat, you heard whispers from the other contenders.
“Did you see y/n’s final plate?”
“Kinda simple for someone who owns a restaurant.”
“Yeah, never expected that from her. It’s like she didn’t put effort at all.”
Hayoung’s laugh made you surprised. “Say what you want. Sometimes the simplest dish could probably make her a winner.”
Scoffs and annoyed blurts escaped their lips as they looked at you again.
The door slammed opened and three royal guards entered in a line. “We are here to call on Miss y/n.”
You looked at the girls who insulted you earlier. Hayoung, who was beside them, smirked. “Or maybe not. It was too simple to be called a winner’s dish.” she laughed, in a tone that you despised. “She doesn’t deserve to be here in the first place. I’m guessing by now she should know her place.”
“Miss y/n?”
Mingyu walked back to where you were sitting, carrying two trays. He saw you on the verge of tears. “Hey y/n? What’s wrong?”
“Will this be the last time I’ll ever see you?”
“What’re you talking about?” he cooed you, however stopped when the royal guards approached your table. “What’s going on?”
“I’m afraid we cannot disclose.”
“Bye Mingyu.”

“The one she made is against the rules! She should be disqualified!” an old man with a robe, yelled.
“Calm down. We ought to know the reason why she did it.” Sir Hwijae gestured the man to lower his voice towards His and Her Majesty.
“Your Majesty, she has to be out of the Palace!”
Joshua, who sat among the King and Queen, was irritated by the tone.
“The rules are clear that contenders who attempted to create dishes of the Royal Kitchen or of similarities will be disqualified.” the King raised his tone, silencing everyone in the Royal Courtroom. To the prince, the satisfied expressions of everyone in the Ministry Board were short-lived. “However, we have not tasted this delicacy in a long time. Bring the contender in.”
“Guys, get me out of here. I’ve got errands to do and I wasn’t supposed to be here, there’s no reason for me to be.” Joshua rubbed his face that his crown was close to falling.
“Errands, he means by sleeping.” Jun joked.
“Yeah I think you should consider, Your Highness.” Seungcheol said, his eyes fixed on somewhere else.
“Cheol, you’re not even looking at me when I’m talking.” the prince whispered.
“And I think you should consider that as well, Your Highness.” Seungcheol remained his posture.
“Ugh, you’re being an idiot!” Joshua hissed.
“You’re the idiot who doesn’t even realized she’s here!” Seungcheol held the prince by his cheeks to look forward.
“Again with that?! You know how sick and tired I am with yo-”
You appeared, right in front of the King and Queen, in front of his parents, with guards on both sides.
“Introduce yourself.” the royal guard said.
You were shaking at the fact the Royal Family sat before your eyes. You didn’t care whether Joshua was or not. Your head bent down with fiddled fingers.
“Lift your head.”
As you were told, you looked in the eyes of the Royal couple. “My name is y/n. I’m the owner and chef of R.G Restaurant & Cafe in the small town at the Far East.” you were thinking whether to bow or not, but the nervousness slowly ate you.
“Are you aware of what you have done in the final assessment?”
Final what? You only recreated a dessert you assumed they would come to like. Confident that you didn’t do any wrong, you still put hope on the stance you believed in.
“I am aware that I only complied with the rules of the assessment. In all three.”
Joshua and his aides looked at you, anticipating your next answer.
“Did you not read the instructions that the Prince gave you, that contenders who attempted to create dishes of the Royal Kitchen or of similarities will be disqualified from the assessment.”
“Yes I have read them, and I have always kept that in mind.”
“If so, why have you failed in the final round?”
The question was not making any sense to you. Failed? You did? You held onto the necklace that has only been your lucky charm.
“The dessert you presented us was of the Royal Kitchen’s.”
Your heart beat went fast.
“Miss y/n, the puff pastry. It’s the beignets.”

“you really need to work on your flight skills, y/n.” wonwoo said, eyes glued on his phone, playing away as you stared at him in disbelief. “you almost got us colliding with a mountain on our last mission.”
“you don’t really have to give me advise when it’s clear enough who among the both of us failed mr. shon’s flight 101 classes.” you butt back, throwing him a pillow as you twirled on wonwoo’s computer chair. he scowled after losing a game before realising what you had said.
he smirked, “whatever, you can’t top angel though.”
“well it’s because jeonghan’s a natural born angel!” you scoffed, remembering the rivalry you both shared.
wonwoo didn’t like the interaction you had with jeonghan lately, the feeling he had was driving him pretty insane. if he had to be factual about something, he knew you the longest among the rest of the team. so nope, he rather have you hanging out with him even if he was a bit quiet.
he slowly approach to where you were seated and wrapped his arms around the back of your neck, placing his chin on your head. you knew he wasn’t showy of his emotions, but if it just the two of you alone, he could be as clingy as a cat.
“if ever jeonghan hyung approaches you again, tell him you’re my girl.” his whispers crystal clear by your ear before placing a quick kiss on your temple, receiving a pat on his hands from you.
“wonwoo,” you pursed your lips as he stayed quiet to listen, “jeonghan is my second degree cousin.” your boyfriend was shaken to the core, his face turned pink as a sign of embarrassment. “is that jealousy i sense?”
“no.” he scoffed, covering half of his face, looking away. “i wasn’t-“
“oh but you are~” you singsonged as he cornered you to a wall, his hand by the right side. he looked at you intently, closing you to him.

The reflection of light temporarily blinded you as the director in charge signalled for a cut. Seated in his high chair and centered perfectly among the film crew, he observed the angles that were crooked or the speed of panning for the actors and actresses in the hooded frame of the camera.
You put your weight on one leg, waiting with arms crossed while the crew finished their final touch ups onto the apples of your cheeks. This was a scene they all anticipated for and to think that it will be the first for you, it got you pretty nervous. But there was assurance from the main lead— Wen Junhui, who scooted next to you with a bottle in hand.
First time working with someone so renowned in the industry, just standing next to him made you feel like a small sprout and he was already a beautiful sunflower, literally too. His facial features were beautiful; long lashes, high nose bridge and pearly whites. It only took a minute for him to notice you were staring. “Don’t be nervous for the next part. Just follow my lead, y/n.” he grinned, patting your head to lessen the distress written on your face.
“O-okay.” you couldn’t stop blinking, not entirely sure whether it was from his gaze at you, or how awe-struck you actually were.
“If you want, we can practice now.” the precious grin of his turned into a sneaky one, teasing you for a change of tensed air. He turned to you with hands in his pockets. The approach caused you to feel something, but you didn’t know what it was.
You stepped back then you saw how he bent down to see your face; parted plump lips and silence came out of it. He was about to close the gap in between when the director called you both with his palms. Heading to the shaded tent, you bent down to check for improvements to redo the scene.
The sun shone behind the curtain, you and him in school uniforms and it totally looked like a scene out of a webtoon series. It’s the aura Jun had in him that kind of made you inferior, even though there wasn’t a need to be. He walked to you with utmost care, his palms reaching for you and a caring smile plastered on his face.
“See here y/n, you are madly in love him, I suggest you to soften up. And Jun, even if she haven’t confessed yet, I want you to be a little closer to her..” he said while he demonstrated with gestures. “Almost as if you yearn for each other’s touch and embrace. It sets up the mood and the viewers’ hearts racing.”
Sure. But how about your heart though?
It definitely was rising now.
And little did you know, so did Jun’s.
He seemed like he was prepared for what was to come, given that he had some experience prior to working with you. But oh heavens he was glad he managed to mask his expression. When the final casting came and knew that you were going to be his leading lady, he had to check the name not twice, but thrice. The paper nearly tore apart at the force he exerted. That one precious word got his heart beating in double speed; blush on his cheeks and a gummy smile he couldn’t hide.
You were back at the window ledge to continue the scene when one member came in front of the crew with a clapperboard in his hand. He nodded when he yelled that certain and specific word, by which your chest ache in mixtures of worry and more worry. It’s a late bloomer thing. “Marker.”
“From the top! And action!” the director yelled and everyone in the room came into a silence.
“I love you, Earl.” you began as you hid the curls of your fingers. “I’m not sure if you know that though.”
Even if Jun was at your side, you could see how his eyes softened from fierce to a total innocent pure, high school boy. A professional indeed.
He chuckled as he pushed himself off of the study desk. “You have no idea how much I’ve waited to hear those words.” he took step sideways just so that his arm briefly brushed yours.
“Hm?” you questioned, still looking elsewhere to avoid his gaze when you shouldn’t be as it wasn’t part of the script.
“Anne, you’re dense but that’s what makes you cute..” he walked closer to you, and this was the scene where the crucial part was to happen. You both were told to be as close as possible before the kiss, but Jun was way too close. Whether he did that deliberately or not, there was no hint at all. He was really hard to read especially when he was immersed in his role. And for a second you thought that Earl was Jun’s inner self.
His palms reached for you and they curved along your jaw shape, cupping it gently as the continuous warmth touched your skin. You flinched but you were glad he didn’t notice. Your chest tightened at the approach. And although you were panicking inside, you kept your chill so you wouldn’t have to go through the intense feeling again if ever the director say ‘cut’.
Jun on the other hand, struggled with his giddy feelings he has for you. There were constant battles with them and he hoped he would not screw it up at this take. As much as possible, he would want to do the kiss one time before he actually explodes on the spot. Of course it would be embarrassing if he stopped midway. He lessened the gap in between. “I hope you’re okay with this.” he said, before both of your lips touched and felt butterflies coming out of your stomachs. It was the last episode of the television series anyway, so he made sure to make most of his time with you.
It was warm, gentle and passionate. That was all you ever felt. He let you go and you stared into each other’s eyes. “I was going to say ‘not really’..” you trailed softly, smiling at him since the character you were portraying was not an expressive one. “..but I guess I’m okay with this- and you.”
“Stop looking at me like that.” he spat s he covered his face while you tried to peek his features.
“But I want to. I’m your girlfriend now.” you tiptoed and jumped slightly when he held both of your hands.
“Then I’ll kiss you again.” he bent down to lean for another. The curtains flew in, the sun’s reflected your silhouettes as the camera team panned backwards, ending the scene.
“Cut!” the director yelled and applause grew louder with high pitched whistles as cheers.
Jun smiled and you did as well. “Was that your first kiss?” he asked, immediately switching back to his usual tease.
You pouted, crossing your arms without denial or hesitation. “So what if I say yes? I bet you’re just gonna make fun of me again-”
“I’d love to kiss you again if I could.” he winked. “That is.. if you’re okay with it.”
The referring dialogue made you grin, and you went with the flow like the one in the script; and girl, you’d be lying if you said you do. “I’m okay with it.”
He bit his lips and held back his idiotic smile. Still behind the curtains, he actually kissed you again. This time with more force and deepened the gap in between.
“Jun! I already said ‘cut!’ You both can come out of the curtains!” the director laughed.
You and him shared a look and started to burst out laughing. He then whispered in your ears the words you never expected to hear or hear him say.
“I’ll take you out on a date after the premiere and press conference of the series. Sounds good?” he asked, and his pearly whites showed, making you nod.
“Jun, y/n!” he called again.
The boy in front of you noticed your blushing cheeks. “Sorry sir!” Jun said, walking back with you while he caressed your back.
You breathed in slowly as the music continued to play the spacious practice room. Although you were about to collapse, you didn’t want to pull him behind nor cause burden than he already was.
Sweat scented tees and numerous empty bottles all scattered around the floor, Chan flawlessly didn’t show any signs of exhaustion. He had been dancing non-stop and the dedication he has still blows your mind.
Both being majors in dance and graduating soon was finally a within-reach dream. Just a little grasp more and you soon would be able to establish your own dance studio. Back then as freshmen, you weren’t confident enough to be alone on stage. Most of the time you would practice when others leave the studio, or purposely stay behind a little longer so no one would see you.
The plan always worked. Yet it lasted for only two days when Chan entered and thought the class changed schedules. And that was the first time he saw you danced your heart out; elegant waves, focused eyes— it was as if you didn’t exist since you were light on your feet. Then you noticed him through the reflection of the mirror. You panicked, but he swore he wouldn’t tell anyone. Time-skip and feelings developed, you both got together.
Chan’s arms snaked from behind while you sat there watching him act oh so sweet. He nested his chin on your shoulders, the airy breath tickling your flesh as he intertwined his palms to pull you up on your toes. “Babe, we can stop if you want to take a break but don’t just sit there while I do my solo part.” he said with loving eyes. “At least let me know if you’re tired.”
He felt you leaning backwards in a playful manner, causing him to stand out of balance and falling to the cold floor. “There. Now you know I’m tired.” you turned around to face him, your grin widening while you hover over him.
This boyfriend of yours always had a bright smile on his face and up until now; half a year into the relationship, you could stare at his gummy smile all day. You even thought that this might be the death of you.. of cuteness overload. Your hands caressed his cheeks and he continued to laugh.
“Ooh. Getting all touchy, aren't we?” he brushed away the strands of hair that were blocking the view he always loved seeing- you. “Wanna include this in our choreography?”
“Pshhh.” you then stuck out a tongue at him for being unreasonable. “Ms. Park wouldn’t want that. Besides, no one knows about us dating.” Laying on your back beside him, you let out another breathy sigh.
“She would, honestly.” Chan stretched his arms support his head, while the other had yours. “I mean this project is about contemporary dance. We’re free to be creative and innovative with our movements. Independence.”
You pondered for a bit, trying to process his words before rolling on your side to face him. “You're not wrong, but what’s our take on the project? How should we express ourselves other than repetitive, multiple or simultaneous actions-”
He suddenly stood and brought out his hands, helping you up. “C’mon, we have to start practicing. We lazed around enough.”
You whined, yet your body gave in anyway, following him as you both got in your positions. There was something different from him; a cheeky smile and unreadable expression. Trying to figure what he has in his sleeves, you went along naturally without a hint of utmost inquiry.
The whole choreography was to showcase what you’ve learned and apply it to the set. Ms. Park allowed film majors to collaborate for the angles to shot and record for their own practice as well. The best set would be featured in the promotional video of the University, which was why Chan was eager and determined to get the first spot.
Music filled your ears when first note of the song played. You moved across the room, corner to corner and doing your own part for the first thirty seconds until you synchronized with him. There were many arm movements, spins and tumbles. He met with you mid-way, holding onto your hand as he supported you from behind.
You noticed how different his moves were through the reflection. His hand that held yours were now by your waist, your bodies swaying and putting force/emphasis to the lyrics of the song. “What are you going?” you questioned, your head turning to him while you caressed his jaw with the notes hitting the higher pitch.
“We can go for a narrative dance.” a sly grin appearing at the corner of his lips.
“Sure but this is not part of the dance, babe.”
Now the music was at its peak when he suddenly pulled you into a kiss. Not knowing what to do, you froze at his actions.
Chan smiled into the kiss as he giggled at your doe-eyed expression. “Unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, direction. That’s probably what Ms. Park meant contemporary.” he stated. “We’ll have their hearts racing.”
Your legs gave in and dropped to the floor, still shocked at the first kiss when your fingers briefly touched the warmth your boyfriend have left. “Babe~ Are you okay?” he leaned down on his knees to check on you.
“Don’t look at me.” you blocked your face with the frizzy parts of your hair strand. “I’m blushing too much.”
“Isn’t that a good thing?” he cupped your cheeks attempting for another one.
“You did it so suddenly!” you pursed your lips inwards that he couldn’t continue where he left off. “If this is what you meant by ‘heart-racing’ then you sure did raised mine.” you curled yourself into ball.
All Chan could do was to laugh at your reaction. “Because I’m unpredictable.” he said in reference to his contemporary statement earlier, making you stand up again.
“At least give me a head’s up.” you now wrapped your arms around his neck. “But that was a smooth move.”
“So you don’t mind we have add that to the choreo? It’s for show.” he suggested.
“Why not?” you smirked, making him smile like an otter. “I wanna see their reactions as we gross them out.”
“Note taken. Let’s stay like this for a while.” he leaned his forehead to yours. “I’m living for this.” Warmth met your lips again, sealing the gap in between.

Seven days.
It has been a week since he last talked to you. Be it physical or virtual, the tension deepened between the two of you and the distance continued to stretch like bubblegum.
Since you both started off as friends, it seemed too good to be true when at that one class, he exchanged numbers with you for a project. Ecstatic and excited, the chemistry you had with him just.. sparked.
He filled in the blanks of your questions of a certain topic and you matched with him as if you were the missing piece to his jigsaw puzzle. The flavour of your friendship was really sweet, people viewed you as each other’s lover. You guessed that, to him, that teasing gesture was a joke. But in fact to you, hoped it was real, even the slightest percent.
How you fell for him was totally uncalled for. At first you treated him like any other friend and gosh how Cupid worked fast. You developed feelings for him and whenever you’d meet, your fingers were crossed in hopes you didn’t wear your heart on your sleeves. So you wore a baseball cap or mask to hide your ‘inlove’ eyes or the redness spreading across your cheeks.
Hansol was dense, or maybe not. You couldn’t read him at all.
Yet that flavour slowly became bland as time passed. Hansol avoided you for who knew what reasons why he did. You thought you knew; guess the number of years doesn’t equal with the intimacy of your friendship.
Tapping letters on your keyboard, you sigh and slid half of your frame on the table at the cafeteria. Seungkwan saw your saddened body from afar right after he got his tray. “Hey y/n..” his voice creating a tune that you immediately lifted your head as if you were hypnotised. “Have you risen from your grave?”
He bit his lips knowing his metaphor went too far, but you accepted it anyway since you did act lifeless for while when Hansol started to ignore you. “I have. But I’ll probably go back to it if ever I run into Hansol again.” you let out a stupid short breath. “I’m not supposed to be sad about it, yet I am, why am I like this, does he not like me anymore- I don’t know what to do.”
Seungkwan rolled his eyes at the tantrums you unknowingly let out. He was starting to feel embarrassed when your lips began to open again. “Ah-ah.” he warned you as his fingers waved sideways. “Girl, did you forget how to think? We use our brains, not our mouths!” he hissed, eyes looking at the surrounding people just in case they ever witness or eavesdrop the conversation.
Your pale lips formed a flat line and Seungkwan swore you looked like you’ve seen a ghost behind him. Realistically speaking it was mid-day so obviously they wouldn’t appear. There were other things though, but in this specific meoment he knew why your whiney attitude suddenly turned cold, vulnerable and fragile like a dented glass cup.
He assured you that he’d try to talk it out with him; maybe knock down his walls to open up about the ongoing, about-to-be toxic friendship. Seungkwan left his tray for a while to catch up to Hansol, who was now with Wonwoo to eat lunch just tables away from yours. You eyed him as Boo approached your new-found crush a.k.a project partner with a knuckle fist nudge in the arm.
“Hey man, wanna eat with us?” Hansol asked as he pointed the table with his thumb and
“Oh yeah join us. We were just talking about the gathering we’ll have with the others later.” Wonwoo nodded in agreement with the younger one’s company.
Seungkwan declines in an instant, saying that he was already having one with you. Hansol turned to where you were seated and became silent as a response. “I just mentioned her name and you’re already shushed up.” he joked where in fact he was trying to hit him with words so Hansol could open his heart.
“Nah, I’m just really hungry.” he said. A total excuse to not cross paths with you again today.
“Uh-huh, keep saying that.” Seungkwan’s tone alerted the dude. “That’s excuse number twenty-one.”
Wonwoo tried to hold back his smirk. He as well noticed the Hansol’s recent behaviour and it was honestly stupid to able to have the guts to ignore you.
Hansol raised his eyebrows, the topic was getting too personal at least for him. “What’s up with you ‘Kwan?”
“One day dude. One day!” he brought his finger up in emphasis. “You’ll look back at those times and see that all along, you were falling in love with y/n.” Seungkwan turned his foot to head straight to you.

The days of ignoring you gradually became frequent to the point where it eventually turned out to be a habit. Hansol laid lazily in his bean bag with an awkward posture, tapping his phone away in which Seungcheol thought he was doing his project. The kid was too focused and it would be rude to stop him; but the older one knew his ways. He grabbed the phone, making Hansol shocked and lost for words.
Busted.
Seungcheol was the big brother of the group and he knew he had to correct the habits that were going too far. In this case? The way Hansol continually avoided the conversation regarding you; the way he changed directions to not meet you face to face; the way he does not head out to discuss about the project- the list could go on and on.
Yet, there one certain thing that went too far, and all the boys in his circle do agree and were all in favour to beat the dense one to a pulp if he still does it the last time.
And that was the way he doesn’t invite you to the apartment anymore.
Since befriending you and all of his friends funnily ‘adopted’ you in their group, they loved your company and how jolly you were and how they finally have a sister to bicker non-stop. But because of Hansol’s new weird habits and inconsistent contact with you, those were put into halt. And they didn’t know when you’ll ever visit.
“I thought you were doing your project?” Seungcheol asked as he waved the phone in question.
“I was.” Hansol shrugged, reaching out for his phone. He took it back but now he attracted attention from everyone in the apartment, though they didn’t bother add in remarks. They stood and watched. “Taking a little break that’s all.” he sat back down.
“Okay.” Seungcheol walked towards him, nudging him to snap out of it. “Are you having a break with her too?”
The television’s volume lowered down to silence just so that Hansol knew the intensity and how serious it had become with you. He rotated his head dramatically— and quickly too— that he probably pulled a muscle around his neck. “You mean y/n? No, I still talk with her.”
“Doesn’t look like that to us.” Seungcheol noticed they others with ears attentively listening and hearing the conversation out. “Her presence needed in the crew, she’s part of us now. Like she’s the honey syrup to plain pancakes.”
“And your point is?” Hansol scrolled down some platform for entertainment before stopping at a certain thing.
“Everyone here misses her. I know you do too.” he said, but leaned backwards as the younger one stood and headed for the door.
The hallway revealed you and although he expected it after from scrolling down his phone earlier, he internally panicked. He didn’t know how to act at your appearance and existence so close. Regaining his composure, he exhaled as he began to speak. “Why are you here?”
“I came because you didn’t answer my calls.” you showed your phone. “For three weeks ‘Han. Three weeks and you just left me hanging in the air.”
“Yikes.” Chan whispered and pursed his lips at your tone with the rest who now witnessed the both of you. Jeonghan had to ask him to refrain from giving reactions since this was serious.
Hansol’s lips agape but he shut them close. “I didn’t ask you to come here. I’ll reply to you immediately anyway.
“Sure, you do.” you smiled sarcastically with arms crossed, not knowing where this talk would end up in.
“C’mon y/n, can we just talk virtually? I’m getting tired-”
You scoffed, now unfolding your arms in disbelief and how idiotic he just sounded. “-tired of me?”
Hansol paused for a while and then rubbed his temples at your attempt in completing his sentence. “Look the main point is, at least I replied.”
“But how am I supposed to continue doing my part in the project when the suggestions I get is your one-word text messages? A call would be better. Just what is up with you?” you asked with a tone a little louder this time that it echoed the empty hallway.
“Tsk, you’re so naggy whenever you’re pissed. Seriously you’re so annoying.” he turned his heel when he noticed how pale you looked. He realised that he has gotten too far this time.
His friends gestured with their faces and limbs at Hansol’s blunt, unnecessary reply. You’ve gone ridiculously silent and it drove them crazy.
“Ah.. I see.” you stepped backwards, hurt with his words. Your fingers fiddled nervously and it was as if oxygen was taken away from your pained heart.
This action of yours caused Hansol’s heart to drop, plummeting to the floor. He cursed himself for not thinking things straight. It was a simple conversation that eventually turned into a serious one. Full offence was written on your face and he never seen you like this before. And to think this was his doing? Uh-oh.
He tried to reach out for you but you continued to step backwards and then turning to leave. Right.. what was I thinking? Coming here in hopes things may change and him possibly loving me.. you said to yourself.
Unbeknownst to you though, a group of other college kids filled the end of the hallway. They were drunk, Hansol could clearly see it. But with the way you swayed weakly at his doing, you didn’t notice them approaching you.
“Ooh, hey girl did your boyfriend break up with you?” he asked, seeing Hansol still at the door of his apartment.
“Get away from my boyfriend you ugly!” The guy’s girlfriend, or more of a hook up, got in the way and pushed you aside until you were shoved to the ground by the staircase.
You hissed at the impact and the growing pain at the back of your head. Those drunken kids left laughing until their echoes weren’t heard anymore.
Now your vision was getting in and out of consciousness, black and white patches take their turn to overpower your sight. Of course, Hansol wouldn’t save you. It was already given with the way he acted earlier. Your hearing rang as you tried to lift yourself when a figure shook your weak self.
But with the combination of the hurt Hansol gave you and the impact of the fall, darkness overpowered your sight; dimming until you eventually lost consciousness.

The softness of the sheets, warmth from your body heat and the coolness of the damp towel on your forehead were enough to keep you out of your slumber. You fluttered your eyes open, blinding shortly from the rays of the sun entering the window beside you.
It didn’t take long for you to figure out the man sitting by the bed with worried arms. His perfume gave his identity away. You wanted to sound ecstatic but then you remembered how he treated you at his front door.
“Hansol?” you managed to let out words he didn’t expect you to say first thing after waking up. “Where am I?”
“Hey, y/n..” he prolonged your name. “.. you’re in my room, on my bed.” he held your hands as he helped you sit up.
Silence filled the room again, just like what had happened at the hallway. Seungkwan entered swiftly and brought a breakfast tray for you to strengthen up, then smacking his friend in the head; obviously for hurting you. “Tsk, see what you did to my bub. You’ll pay for it Chwe Hansol.” he bit his lips in attempt of hitting the lad. Mingyu took the bucket and replaced it with a new one for the towel.
“Why am I in your room?” you asked.
“You had a concussion when those drunkards pushed you down the staircase. Gladly it wasn’t serious but Jeonghan hyung said you were burning with a fever as well. He helped me carry you back to the apartment.” he twisted the cloth where the droplets of water was the only thing heard in the room again.
Observing his actions, clearly he was sorry for how he treated you; that being written in his face when he averted eye contact with you. While you ate, questions began to fill your mind and maybe this was the time to actually be frank with him. You lowered your spoon which caught his attention.
“Do you want water? I’ll get some for you-” he offered, only to be cut off with that one striking description.
“I’m worried that you’re changing into someone I don’t recognise anymore.”
The words were monotonous, piercing to the core and Hansol thought he shattered to pieces. The more he absorbed the words, the deeper the wound got and it was like salt was added to it for intensity. But in fact it was just a push he thought he needed.
“Surprised about that fact of myself too. And the guys did me a scolding for it, hence why I’m telling you in all honesty.” Hansol scooted closer to you, where he was adjacent to your laying body. “But I just wanna let you know.. it’s not you, y/n. It’s me.”
“Fine, okay. Make this be a worth one listening to.” you munched on the food prepared by Joshua.
“It was never you, and it’s always me. You didn’t do anything wrong- rather it was me-”
You scoffed annoyingly that you were already angry eating. “Okay, maybe not. ‘Me, you, me, you’.. Get straight to the point Hansol or else I’m gonna have to ask Minghao to drive me home-”
“Wait! I- uh- hear me out, please.“ he exhaled. “I’m not good with words. And I know I’ve been a douche in the past weeks and I wasn’t myself. But, the guys made me realize something I thought I was doing correctly. Honestly y/n, my feelings for you have changed since. It was more than what we are and I’m afraid it’ll take a toll on our friendship if I confirmed it.”
You let him speak as if he was music to your ears. He held your left hand and played with it as he continued.
“I was like a device buffering and delaying the minutes, preventing it to load to a full one hundred percent. If I reach that point I don’t think I’ll be able to handle it.” he paused when you actually turned you direction to him.
“‘Handle’?..” you raised your brows.
Hansol scoffed for himself at how stupid he’d be when he says it. But whatever, it was you anyway. “I’ll explode each time I see you. I shy away when you give small laughs at my corny jokes and I turn red even if we only talk about the project and-”
“Red as in you are now?” you asked, poking his cheeks lightly to the touch.
“Yeah red like I am now- Wait huh?” he stopped to feel the growing heat in his flesh.
“So you’ve been avoiding me because you like me?” you asked, holding back the full-on laughter that he’d probably be embarrassed of. “What are you, five?”
“I- I do have feelings for y-you but I’m not really sure if they’re just i-infatuation or-”
“Maybe this will confirm it.” The frequent stutter he has had you doing the unbelievable. You tugged his shirt closer to you enough for a kiss, forcing a little to deepen it.
Hansol knew he was blushing since he noticed the presence of his friends just behind that wooden door.
Realizing and confirming the feelings he bottled up inside, he smiled within the kiss and pulled you back again when you thought you finished your part. He cupped your chin, tilting slightly to tell you he wasn’t done. You loosened the clench on his shirt and returned the kiss.
You both pulled away with red cheeks and swollen lips. The sun came out just at the right timing when he thought he saw an angel before him. Its sunrays added color to your eyes, and the outline of your body enlightened with glow.
“Yeah.. That confirmed it so well..” he hummed, sitting next to you on the bed as you laid on his chest.
He said he buffered the minutes because he was afraid to explode. Maybe it was meant to do that because he knew he wouldn’t take it when it was done so suddenly. But because he reached full percent, he somehow, actually expected the kiss.
You were now his girlfriend and that ensured him to know where you both stand.

Soonyoung always told you how he really loves picnic. No, it wasn’t at a public park or indoors or at the beach. Ironically it was in the car, where drive-thrus were the common dates you both enjoyed. Sometimes he would pack a basket filled with sandwiches he made himself. Other times he would slide his credit card to pay for any drive-thru orders whenever he felt lazy or forget to prepare his contribution.
He would initiate that he’d drive all the time. By all the time, it meant how you never got your turn to do so. It was a gentleman move for him to think that. However, there was a reason for it.
Around two weeks ago, he received a phone call from Jihoon. It got him in distress knowing you got into an accident, whereas he was just talking with you just moments before he dropped the phone call.
You were driving and was on the way to meet him for a date. As someone who got her license at the legal age, you were already experienced and cautious enough to avoid accidents. In the world, exists drunk and reckless drivers. Either of the two were rare for you encounter on the road. But it was at that special day, you had to experience such a traumatic event.
Soonyoung arrived at the hospital where you were admitted. To your relief, you weren’t as injured as the drunken people who seemingly drove passed you. Your car did have dents though, and your side mirror crashed into the window, breaking it through and eventually causing minor scratches to your face.
Since then, he insisted on driving. It was the only assurance that you would be safe. So today, you both planned to have another joyride date and he threw the keys of his car in the air in excitement and
Boy was he a slowpoke.
You hopped and grabbed the keys, running to the vehicle before him. “I’m driving!” you cheered, waving the keys at him.
“Babe y/n wait!” he ran to you and as he pulled the lever of the door, he was shocked to know you had the audacity to lock it. “No you’re not gonna drive!”
The continuous knocks on the window had you laughing so hard that you really had to snap the moment. It was mean, but Soonyoung was mean for not letting you drive at least once.
You then saw him crossing his arms in frustration. His words were muffled, but you understood what he meant. “Please let me drive.” you asked, and he stopped being salty.
“Open the door.”
You complied and did what he ordered. Once he was seated beside you, he held you hand. “Only when I’m with you, I’ll let you.” he said softly. The amount of guilt sprinkled your face. A tone full of worries and care were in them.
An hour had passed, you finally managed to give Soonyoung a joyride after two weeks of not feeling the leathered wheel in your palms. After a few video recordings of you and him singing your hearts out, you halt the car at a carpark of a nearby beach. Soonyoung’s stomach growled midway of the cover so you decided to have snacks.
The sun was setting and the golden hour colors were settling its shine around the car. The smell of chocolate-filled croissants sprayed the interior of the car, and you squealed in delight.
“You always know my favourites, Soonyoung.” you gave him a kiss on the cheek.
“Kiss me on the lips.” he demanded in a childish behaviour. “It’s much sweeter.”
You rolled your eyes at the symbolism. “Okay.”
He held the nape of your neck, immersing himself in the kiss. “Actually, you’re sweeter.” he licked his tongue from the remains of the chocolate filling on yours.
“I’m sorry for being selfish today.” he heard you apologize as you looked at the ocean’s horizon.
“Don’t be, y/n. I was too overprotective and i didn’t want history to repeat itself. I guess my fears went ahead of my trust towards you.” he rubbed your thigh, making you turn to him.
“It’s okay.”
“But my joyrides are still the best!” he danced in his seat, ruining the moment of mutual understanding.
Yet you’ve always loved that about him. He would spice up the atmosphere. Soonyoung did say he loved joyrides. And you do too.
Because he was the joy of every rides you had together.
lee jihoon knew he was right all along, seeing you on the on the other side of the lecture hall, holding a small stack of books. he first noticed your eyes, it was puffed up and yet it sparked of positivity.
