A Response
I put up the sails as I woke up. I couldn’t catch the wind. I lay there. The floor around swelled with the limpness of a hopeless life. Long lay these unnatural waves. Their sickly noir curdled as they entangle the steads of my sanctuary, mimicking a loving caress. I turned over, but they persisted. Their hiss spoke lies. My heart covered its ears, as final desperate attempt. The Morning.
So I whispered;
Hold me.
As all falls away,
As I fixate my gaze,
As my line of vision narrows and sees only you,
Hold me.
No sooner than my utterance had base-jumped from my tongue, my eyes lifted. Surrounding the waves was the wild, rosewood, claret and burgundy yet whole. I knew all would be well. I felt a tremor of trepidation in the torrents and I held onto my knees momentarily before easing my grasp and turning toward Him. Hands lifted now, I felt His heat on all of me, my sails consumed by the joyful Wind howling through the coloured glass of my windows. I am caught up in the lustre of this white-hot stare and I dance undignified upon the deep ink held fast in the presence. The Winds offense does not subside until tears uproot from my eyes, inspiring the rain outside. All of me crescendos and harmonises to sing the symphony of this heartbreak and I’m restored to hope again. My Exodus is over and I’m home.
Truer all in all I’ll never know,
When all is dirge,
I am watered, and I will grow.
Cloudy Brain
Another Poem - J.Oommen (2012)
Words bombard my neck,
And assail a ladder into the mind,
To leave, all nerves, a wreck,
To my self-pity I am confined.
"These are the days of the unseen,
Where good men are few and far between.
But I’m one who’s always been mean,
To save for salt and kerosene."
Spoke unspoken, a film not quite developed.
Certainty of a memory, impressed upon a child,
That can’t be cleared by rain,
As he utters soft refrain:
"Sore souls & soles seek rest in Thee,
Healing heavy hurt harmonies, You enable an unfreeze,
Worldly words that wheeze – ease and I breathe, deep–ly."
Although you feel their pressure,
And guilt marches across your skin,
Once for always, they’ll now smoulder,
In this supernova we’ll win.
A man is what he is on his knees before God, and nothing more.” - Robert Murray M'Cheyne
Thinking this morning about the most beautiful sunrise/sunset that i've ever seen, and wondered whether I had a decent picture or two. These are what I found. Nothing beats the sun in Africa.
We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit.

The Flowerchild and The Lion Heart
A Poem - J. Oommen (2012)
On the breath of the dusk She bore Her,
Amongst the cornflower blooms;
Iris of an ivy and bluebell, complexion of the white rose.
Her fragrance soft, not fragile, as boldness did exude
The Sun adorned; she was all an amber glow of beauty and flaws,
Which were pardoned in time like feathers on a zephyr.
Ruling flora – tending to fauna,
She grew into the splendour of Her Makers desires.
The Flowerchild.
Not far from where the wild was, she reflected Him.
His Majesty and Peace as far as the eye saw green.
But on the shores viridescence, the skeleton of ancient Earth surfaces:
First knuckles, then scapula and crowed with milk mountain skulls.
The boisterous silence of the Owl and the Elephant saw him inhale,
They watched him gain prowess through cubhood and a Makers moulding.
Strides lengthen, light-shafts too
On sun-setting savannah and rock dry dawns,
The rumble grew in the deep…
But now, mane shaken, anxious insecurity flees in a bold uproar,
The Lion Heart emerges in his Fathers old leather boots.
A mingling curiosity,
A fragility of destiny,
Witness the encounter of these nomads.
“Like a lily among the thorns,
So is my darling among the maidens”
…
“Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest,
So is my beloved among the young men”.
Like masterpieces on misted windows,
Visible in breath, fashioned by fingers.
Love; Eternity in every moment,
To each Heart, their conqueror is given,
His misty ways - obscure yet not hidden…
The Joy of a Triumphant Departure
After a few weeks of just posting pictures and music videos, I have finally found something that has stirred me to express/shout my thoughts across the web, so bare with me, I’m new to this…and it's all very weird.
The above snippet of the song When You Believe from the Prince of Egypt has a long time been one of my favourite parts of this film. The Joy I experience in listening and rejoicing with the computer generated animated portrayals of the Israelites I can barely describe, I guess if one could blog Dancing in an efficient and aesthetically pleasing way, I would, because then at least I would be able to communicate a fraction of that Joy. Writing this I hear the mutterings of the cogs in cynics brains as they read this.
But if for a minute we just think about HOW incredibly grateful and full of praise the Israelites would have been to be FREE, then yes, I would say that this whole post seems to fall short.
Oh! How beautiful are the words of this short Hebrew refrain. Although I'd be ignorant to not note that Dreamworks have done their best to heighten emotions in this part of the song using children's voices, I will shamelessly adore it always!
Today for the first time I actually looked into the meaning of the Hebrew section in the original recording from the film (Why on earth did Mariah and Whitney think it was okay to leave it out!) – God really shook me up today by these words. As far as I can tell, this is a rough phonetic break down of the section and the translation (can’t guarantee it’s 100% correct, can’t trust everything you find online after all).
“A-shir-ra la-do-nai ki ga-oh ga-oh
A-shir-ra la-do-nai ki ga-oh ga-oh
Mi-cha-mo-cha ba-elim adonai
Mi-ka-mo-cha ne-dar-ba-ko-desh
Na-chi-tah v'-chas-d'-cha am zu ga-al-ta
Na-chi-tah v'-chas-d'-cha am zu ga-al-ta
A-shi-ra, a-shi-ra, A-shi-ra.......”
“I will sing to the Lord for he has triumphed gloriously
I will sing to the Lord for he has triumphed gloriously
Who is like You, oh Lord, among the celestial
Who is like You, majestic in holiness
In Your Love, You lead the people You redeemed
In Your Love, You lead the people You redeemed
I will sing, I will sing, I will sing”
What a Heart Cry!
Thank you Lord that we can know you to be our loving Father and that you can and will and have provided for us, Lord let me be ever thankful for the Cross and that I can love you for you first loved me! Lord let my heart never grow weary of declaring Your goodness as your people did the day they left Egypt! May I never hold back something that I must give to you in Praise of your name! Let me Rejoice in You always and again say that I will Rejoice! Amen.
Until the next time I'm moved.
Jerusalem builds higher walls in the rain, and when I look at her I give each stone, each one a name… And beg her broken walls to forget all my past shame. All my past shame …
