Earth Science

Earth Science for me is like our life there are ups and downs. Where we can encounter the reality of our life, the life of knowing what is the process of Earth. The causes and effects of the nature, where us human is one of the beneficiary of the place we are using, our actions is counted. We know the backgrounds of the earth what are the process and put into category. We all know that, Earth is the mighty planet upon which we all live. Only recently have humans begun to understand the complexity of this planet. Studying Earth science  gave me awareness of what happened to our planet long time ago and what is happening right now. A good thing about Earth Science is that it is developing as we learn more about our world, we are challenged to discover more things and uncover more facts. Earth science is also about the how and when, specifically it is the how should we shape our planet and when will we do it. This branch of science taught me about the beauty of the world. Earth Science helps you understand about our physical world, where these things come from like earthquakes and hurricanes and gives solutions on the natural problems of our world.

Worst Weather-related Experience

That was heck of a night when me and my mom is stranded at a restaurant where we ate our dinner. There was a low pressure area at that time that’s why we experience heavy rains then because of the rain the flood slowly appearing and the place where we are located is a flooded place, there is also several thunders and lightning like you hear the sky roaring lol, the wind is so strong like it can erase you because of the wind. It is not just a normal rain but it is just different. I can tell that is the worst weather experience I've encounter so far of life it is just like a storm because of the heavy rains and heavy winds.

Earthquake Proof Building

STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS QUESTIONS:

A. We test our building by putting something heavy like cellphones and we even try shoes to make sure that it is already good to go.

B. Yes, we strengthen the weaker are because we want to make sure that it wont collapse. We look at every possible weak areas so that it will be consistently built.

C. The lower part or the ground floor where we put more straws, because we want that our building will not be moved in an constant motion so that we can avoid to collapse and we make sure that it is strong atleast if the upper floor will dance the lower part is not more affected with the earthquake.

D. The upper most part, because of the straws we lack straws to be used because we put more straws below.

E. We use string in the second floor where the object will be put on, because we want that the object will not fall and it will support on the straw that we put in there.

F. We put strings everywhere that there is needed just to fully support and strengthen our building.

G. We’ll put it on the most upper part because it is the weakest part of our building.

The Water Contamination Challenge

The Region is composed of valleys, rivers, springs, and small towns.  It has a main river which the direction of it’s water flow from right to left and it started from the top passing through the middle as it flows. Since the river started from the top, as the water flows downward, it brings waste or any toxic materials from the factories that it passes by, which causes the river to be polluted. The lower part of the valley is most contaminated and dirty because of the power plans the coal plant and also the small towns up there, the river starts at the top which is the R1 and the last part of the river which is R8, because it has passes many places the water is now dirty maybe some of the people up there used it in different purposes. and the places that are not contaminated somewhere at the side and far from the river.

The One Thing Challenge

“ONE THING”, At first when I watch the documentary, in my head I was just like chill, ah okay this and that blahblah. Till I saw the sharks were haunted by the fisher men, and also the big time fish hunters and sell it illegally, they use the whale shark for money insted of preserving. After watching the documentary video I got struck and guilty that I’m not aware of it the there reread endanger, sadly there are people in this world who doesn't care about the community. The one thing that I should be AWARE of my community and especially be careful og the things that I buy maybe the materials of such product that I brought is a part of an animal which is so sad to hear. And try to join organization were the people are saving the endangered animals and help to tell and orient people who haunt some animals for money to stop it so that we could save them as early as now before it would be too late for us to make a move to save them from extinction.

“The Kabo Challenge”

1. How does it feel to have your water consumption limited to a minimal amount? - It feels inadequate after taking a bath because it is not the way on how I take a bath, I’m not used to it thats why I feel conscious but good enough still feel fresh after the bath. I survive the 3 days of consumption and the second day I took 9 scoops only and I’m proud of it.

2. Is this something you can do long-term? - For me Yes, because I can took a bath in just 15 scoops or less using a “kabo” and I can help in a very little way to our water shortage problem by doing this. Though It feels lacking after a bath but still good enough just to think that the water that I consume helps my community in saving water.

3. In the future, with the amount of shortages we have when it comes to water, limiting your water consumption may be inevitable. What are your thoughts on this? - We should start conserving our water right now and it should be everyone’s responsibility in order for us to conserve our water so that sooner or later we will not regret that we did not conserve our water and so that we will not go to the point that everyone is starving for water. There is the saying that “Every drop counts”.

Slope! Slopes! Slope!

I chose this slope between RH and LRC building. It can cause failure because of the structure and the rocks are weak, In this area on the ground there are many rocks falling coming from the top and it is also a potential of failure because this slope is very steep and the rocks are weak, when the rain pours many rocks will falling coming from this slope. It can be dangerous when an earthquake occurs there is a possible that this slope will fail.

It would be a dream come true to me, probably a blessing for me. Since I want to handle business like farming and luckily the land is rich in agriculture and for commercial use. I want to use it and build something that is unique to the people. First I want to have vegetable & fruit farm where there are different kinds of vegetables and fruit, I use the 15 hectares for the farm. The purpose of the farm is to supply to the market or malls. And second, I want to have a 3 hectares fruit and vegetable market and the sale is coming from the farm at the back of the market we’re the people can experience shopping some fresh from the farm fruits and vegetable. And last is to have fruit farm and vegetable farm market separately to each other where it is open to the people, to personally harvest and shop fresh from the farm fruit and veggies. That is my idea on what will I do to the 20 hectares that my uncle gave to me :)

August 6, 2016. The day when we went to a place where the Cebu Farmers Market open their stall store in Vibo Place. There 3 chefs cooking vegetables in different way of cooking. We learn on how to cook healthy foods in a creative way.

Rocks and Minerals

I can relate to a crystalline rock and one mineral that is special because it reflect on what it is. I can relate crystalline as a rock that came from one place to the other, crystalline rock is rock coming from a probably volcano and typically form in high-temperature, of course  I’m hot! I came from the womb of my mother and came out to be a human being and just like a crystal, shining in its own way! :)

First week of my Senior High is experience is quite heavy, because Im still adjusting about my new school, new teachers, new students, etc. When the day passed I was able to bond with them, talking some of my new classmates and making it more interesting when we get to know to each other. I have met new “Barkada”. Im here to study, with a purpose and its more lucky to be with them because we’re getting more united as how many weeks past, just to go with the flow with them as we take the challenges to face in this semester. Go along and think positive as I take the journey towards success, Senior High School aren’t that bad as I thought you were, It is more interesting and more exciting.

Geosphere                     Positive: Conserving and using natural things                     Negative: Buying things that came from came from mining Hydrosphere                     Positive: Conserving clean water                     Negative: Over use of water when taking a bath. Atmosphere                    Positive: Conserve and not riding a vehicle if it is not necessary                    Negative: Burning plastics/garbage 

Biosphere                    Positive: Not doing littering as much as I can                    Negative: Killing those insects How will I continue doing this?

Geosphere: By applying it more and not abusing our own nature that can help  our geosphere glow.

Hydrosphere: Doing it consistently so that I can help preserving hydrosphere in my own little way.

Atmosphere: Get to use by walking instead of riding a vehicle when it is no necessary to ride.

Biosphere: Continue conserving our plants

What can I do to minimize/stop it?

Geosphere: Segregate and throw my garbage on the proper garbage can

Hydrosphere: Conserve water when doing household chores and other hygiene necessities

Atmosphere: Lessen usage of unnecessary appliances

Biosphere: Keep other insects alive and just stay away from them

Who am I in the midst of the universe ?

In the universe, I am just a Human being living in the world temporarily not permanently. I don’t really know why I exist but I thank God for this wonderful life even with the conflict around it. Having the chance to explore and learn about the gift from God. This universe is just unbelievable, Just if I had a chance to live here forever, I would not think twice, I should live here forever because I love the creation of God and I have learned a lot, Thinking and exploring, The purpose of my life here in the midst of the universe.
