This is after they’ve broken up and Damon said he doesn’t want to be around her, or be her friend etc and yet, here Elena is, after he rescues her from Enzo’s ghost torment. She’s all shaken and upset and he just can’t stop touching her. (5.20)

favorite Delena moments (5/?)

The happy smile on Damon’s face before he realizes she’s smiling for Stefan. That happy smile twisting with pain. But most of all the silent thank you from Elena. Because there’s really no reason for her to mouth the gratitude at him. She could have said it out loud. But because she doesn’t she makes it into a private moment just between them, just like the private moment she’s having with Stefan. It’s painful but it’s also hope. (2x08)

Favorite Delena Moments (4/?) 

I can’t decide if I chose this for the way Elena knows she can convince Damon (before Isobel drops the because he’s in love with you bomb) or the way Damon can’t help but do what she’s asking or the way he holds her hand in that completely unnecessary way when he gives her the device. Or, for Stefan’s reaction. Again, this is before the Isobel bomb, but you can see Stefan look between them, see him see something as he watches Damon give in to her, and watches again the way Damon holds her fingers for just a little too long. Because it makes the weight of Isobel’s words, when they come, all the heavier.

Favorite Delena Moments (3/?)

Underrated though it may be, I love this tiny little snippet of Damon humming because he’s annoyed and impatient while Bonnie works on the Gilbert Device and all it takes is a look from Elena and he stops. Rolls his eyes, absolutely, but he stops. Just love these little moments. (1x21)

Favorite Delena Moments (2/?)

Because there was no reason for Damon to take Stefan’s place except to be kind, to make sure Elena wouldn’t be the one who was stood up by her boyfriend. It’s the first of so many times that’s he’s there to make sure she isn’t alone.

She doesn’t ask him to stay, doesn’t expect him to. She probably doesn’t even think to want him to. But Damon stays anyway. Just sits with her, expecting nothing while she waits for Stefan to come back to her. (1x19)
