this chart is the short answer, the long answer goes under the cut since I had some time to marinate the thoughts after talking abt them in the lold server!

Who is more protective?

sanson! guydelot and m'ozzie aren't protective at all, for very different reasons!

guydelot leans more towards possessiveness towards the things that he perceives as special to him (the bard unit) so it manifests as Keeping Others Out rather than Protecting The Ones Inside. but this means his actions read more towards being an brat and asshole towards others, and it doesn't help that he's friends with Sanson No Subtlety Smyth and M'ozzie Dense Motherfucker Tia lmfao

m'ozzie isn't protective because on one hand, he 100% believes no one needs or wants him to hover over them. and on the other hand, he also believes those he respects/idolizes/cares about are capable enough to stand their own no matter what. he leans more towards defensive if anything else? but similarly to guydelot, his actions (or lack thereof) are often read as neglectful or unattentive

sanson's flavour of protectiveness goes hand in hand with his eagerness and impulsiveness to Do Good Things, he's wired to be helpful if he can and do the right thing; but sometimes it reads as him looking down on the other two which causes some friction with guydelot AND reinforces m'ozzie's belief of keeping his distance

Who would get into a fight to defend the other?

guydelot and m'ozzie!

sanson doesn't get into arguments. they're completely one-sided most of the time, actually. he goes into rants about why the other person is Objectively Wrong because he's noticed All These Positive Traits about guydelot and m'ozzie. it's a battle of attrition, and he always wins because he's so? not oblivious but unmovable, I'd say? he's so stubborn that once he makes up his mind, it's almost impossible to get through him. on physical fights however, he WILL make you wish you were never born!

when it comes to guydelot, being combative and abrasive is ingrained into him, so he has no issues arguing with one or two or seven people because it's never something personal. UNLESS it's related to what he considers special to him, that's the only time he can lose his cool very easily, I'd say it's a 50/50 on whether someone will have to get him out of there before things escalate, physically or verbally

m'ozzie is an active suicide risk that hides behind a veeery big sunny grin. he's wired to escalating things Extremely Quickly and if he wants an excuse to pick a fight, he will find it. no provokation needed. likewise, he can also pivot towards running away or humilliating himself if verbal arguments get too real or genuine, forcing him to be honest and what not

Who tends to the other's wounds?

guydelot and sanson!

m'ozzie has a lot of knowledge treating wounds and making do with anything available because he's had decades of practicing on himself. but he will NEVER tend to anyone's wounds if possible. go get a proper healer, someone who actually knows the Right Way to heal! he will carry you there, but don't ask him to do it! he doesn't have the heart to be helpful and also the cause of someone's pain, even if it's to pop a bone back in place. it's fine if he hurts himself while stitching a wound close, but if he has to do that on someone he cares about? he's going to cry and leave!

guydelot will do it if it's someone he cares about; being a bard is ingrained into him the same way military training is ingrained into sanson, so he's always keeping his distance in every aspect. but this is something he's willing to do if it can lessen the pain of those he cares about. one of the very rare things guydelot will Not Brag Or Gloat About, because if people find out he's rather good at healing then they'll give him more work. horrendous!

sanson however, sucks at this because of his aforementioned impulsiveness to do good things and training; his instincts lean more towards eliminating the threat and THEN care for the wounded, so usually he's doing something else to help. still, it speaks volumes that he'll do his best to learn for the sake of keeping his loved ones safe and healthy. I can see sanson as the type that would also adapt pretty well to whoever he's tending, unconsciously at least!

bard polycule question, how did mozzie react when sanson was kidnapped?

this is a bit of a loaded question for m'ozzie but overall: bad! just not for the reasons you'd expect!

a lot of tension (albeit sorta one-sided) builds up between him and guydelot & sanson thru this quest. he wishes guydelot & sanson would stop giving a shit about the truth and the longterm consequences. he would've gladly killed nourval and his supporters and buried them all if he had the chance. he's fine with burying everything if it means ala mhigo will continue to have the alliance's support, because he knows how fickle the alliance is! if gridania--who shares a border with gyr abania--pulls out due to this, then it's so easy for the rest to follow!

when sanson is kidnapped, m'ozzie's first reaction is relief

because he instantly convinces himself that sanson is as good as dead, and that there's nothing to be done about it! they have to go home, turn in the journal and move on! even if it means losing sanson! and guydelot, most likely!

it feels like absolute hell, since he's come to care about the two so much. but he's so fucking afraid he can't think of anything else other than How To Immediately Secure The Alliance's Support! his entire family is still there in the peaks! there's a chance for the entirety of gyr abania to heal if ala mhigo is liberated! and he was never going to stay that long with the bard unit anyway, on account of being a cowardly piece of shit who was inevitably going to hurt them one way or another! its fine! its so fine! (<- most delusional miqo'te in the world)

and it happens AGAIN when he and guydelot go discuss how to proceed with vorsaile!

guydelot is fucking fuming, screaming about how the twin adder is letting sanson die, but m'ozzie is so relieved to hear that the higher ups agree, and it eats him from inside out. he doesn't trust in the friendship is magic "let's save sanson anyway and believe in the new generations" plan, and actually tries to argue against the plan itself

so yknow! bad! he reacts badly!

It's so sad we've never seen the Countess de Haillenarte. I know she prob has Lani's red hair and what not but what else?? Hells I don't think we know what any of the Countesses in this game look like :/

i gotchu anon, i know in my heart that countess haillenarte is hot as fuck. i saw her in ishgard. i promise

jokes aside it is pretty damn tragic :[ i wish we got anything where they actually just. had dialogue, showed up, anything other than other ppl talking about them in passing. we do know that she likes music at least!

posting some ramblings/headcanons under the cut!

i do like to think that laniaitte got her red hair from her maternal grandparents. thats the side of the family where the deep red comes from, but countess haillenarte is the one that got to marry into a noble family bc her hair leans more towards brown and doesn't Stand Out As Much / Isn't As Threatening For Noblemen

and it kinda works out because her genes didn't even try with the rest of her kids, since the guys are all blond!

aurvael is the exact same model as his father without a beard LMFAO (ignore the man boobs + body marks on stephanivien, i accidentally loaded m'ozzie's body onto him)

but i also like to think that the countess doesn't really mind, because she gets along with her children regardless, and this is just something that affects laniaitte--she looks the most like her mother out of her sibligns in passing, so she's expected to follow her footsteps of marrying into another noble family for connections (emmanellain, btw). hence why laniaitte takes her post at camp cloudtop so seriously despite knowing it's not really a "serious" job

thinking about countess haillenarte and how she could parallel/mirror countess fortemps, i like to think countess haillenarte is probably the type of parent that is so supportive it kind of leaves the kids a bit directionless/aimless, since it's mostly like "you do whatever, and i will smile and cheer" without really getting involved nor guiding you to any path. and this acts as a foil to countess fortemps' grip on her own kids

WHICH would explain why most of countess haillenarte's kids are Like That. stephanivien thrives the most with this hands-off method, but a lot of the others had to instead pivot to their father for that parental stability, leading to them to further adopt the ishgardian mentality of nobility through knighthood only

these are my headcanons ofc, but i wouldn't call her vapid necessarily? just not as involved as countess fortemps in the whole politics game. she's a noble lady that fulfilled her role and is content with the life she got to lead, since she has a relatively nice family that gets along with each other. which is. a privilege in ishgard lmfao. i do think that her husband has a very soft spot for her and that's why he kind of does whatever she wants if she insists a little, based on the goldsmith questline where they mention her briefly! and that she later bonds with artoirel post heavensward/firmament over this

cheese duo & their ancient versions! took from orpheic mythos so that they can keep being thematically linked, absolutely do not separate!

some fun rambles abt them and their designs under the cut <3

i designed the cheese duo together so they'd complement each other moon & sun style respectively, long hair & shorter hair, curls/smooth combo vs choppy/spikey combo, parmesan & mozzarella, parmesan has a sleek and intimidating lanky silhouette but m'ozzie has a broad and welcoming stocky silhouette that takes up space, super tall vs super short...

this also applies lorewise too, cause aside from being divorced, they physically & emotionally cannot live without the other. they quite literally CANNOT die without each other's permission. a lot of their emotional baggage and story mirrors the other and so on and so forth, this is something i REALLY wanted to keep after finding out abt the ancients and azem. so i decided that both dionysus and zagreus were going to be candidates for azem, with m'ozzie being the one to win in the end!

its also fun bc i can make it so that their designs as ancients also continue their whole parallels/foils of each other thing! the gist of it is that all of dionysus' shards base their appearance on things that zagreus liked, because of his entire potential as azem traveling, expanding his horizons and coming back to tell dionysus all about it. while all of zagreus' shards base their appearance on small traits that dionysus had, because of dionysus' issues of dysphoria and dysmorphia and having such intense self-loathing that it looped back around to a sense of superiority!

to list some of them for fun real quickly:

parmesan's white hair comes from zagreus' love for snow and snowy areas (something that permeates in m'ozzie in his love for coerthas/ishgard, as someone who was born in the hot climates of gyr abania)

m'ozzie's two toned hair comes from dionysus' own natural hair gradient (something that dionysus hated because it made them too easy to recognize in a crowd)

dionysus has yellow eyes, which went on to m'ozzie. zagreus has pink eyes, which went on to parmesan. There Are Nefarious Reasons For This involving their codependent homoplatonic dynamic as ancients. i'm going to make them commit crazy transhumanist shit <3 in the name of friendship! give your buddy a piece of your fucking soul that not even the highest powers can separate in the afterlife!

...which is so fucking funny! bc parmesan does some crazy shit (ie: divorce cult shenanigans, beautiful life changing event) to m'ozzie and it turns his right eye pink! so now i can say that m'ozzie's yellow eye is on the same side as dionysus' face scars!

zagreus often went against the rules of conduct / dressing codes, trying to show as much individuality and uniqueness as possible even if it set him apart. this is something that permeates in parmesan in both appearance and emotionally. (it just doesn't work out for them bc. the isolation and alienation is what hurt them in the first place lmfao)

since zagreus is the one that goes on to become azem and we have ardbert as a canonical shard, i'm choosing to explain this as "this is dionysus' idealized self". john normal, with nothing that sticks out or sets him apart from the rest, the most average default looking motherfucker in the world who does not struggle with gender and is fine presenting as male exclusively

im leaving SOME stuff up in the air for now to give me some leeway for the thirteenth since m'ozzie's shard in there is parmesan's favorite voidsent pet, and there's also the fourth whenever we get to evercold.... MUCH TO THINK ABOUT. I LOVE MAKING THINGS COMPLEX FOR NO REASON!

but another thing that i enjoy thinking abt is what traits from the ancients remain on each shard no matter what, like how all of dionysus' shards are gonna fucking have a stupid heart ahoge. or how all of zagreus' shards are gonna have The Nicest Murder Mouth Smile of all time.
