Two of the three comics here were produced in Perth and sold at Supanova in Artist Alley, where tables can be rented at low cost for non-commercial writers and artists to sell their wares and promote themselves.
These are primarily 24 Hour Comics, which are 24-page comics written and produced in a solid 24 hour period. The third, Skull Panda in Love, is a spin-off series from the webcomic Sam and Fuzzy.
They are A5 sized (except for Skull Panda - which is a little smaller) with roughly 125gsm pages and (mostly) gloss covers of a higher gsm. They are held together with staples.
Each comic leaves the front or back page with enough room to do a custom drawing and signature for purchasers. In the case of Skull Panda in Love, this edition cost a little more. The heart at the front was also hand-coloured. This is a cheap but effective method of producing independent comics on a physical media. Often these comics are also available to read online.
The Perth comics use the endpages to give information about themselves and the premise for the comics.
The name Stockholm comes from Stockholm Syndrome, a psychological disorder where hostages wind up with positive feelings for their captors, sometimes even coming to love them.
One of the goals in the comic was to portray the difference between the mortal world where Ida comes from, and the Fairy world she is transported to. This is achieved primarily through line and colour. The mortal realm, and Ida herself, is dark and thick-lined. People and objects from the mortal realm are shaded with lines.
The Fairy-King Uberon and his world are brightly (somewhat tackily) coloured. The lines are thin, aiming to convey that they are not quite as real as Ida is.
Scenes with Uberon are based heavily on anime/manga. This is another point of contrast between him and Ida, who has aesthetic origins in European plate etching. He's introduced smiling, with soft colours that show that Ida is enamoured by Uberon's prettiness. This changes when he kisses her and infers he's interested in more. The borders start to close in and everything gets darker.
Uberon's voice is depicted in a romantic pink on black, an indication that he's not all sweetness and light. When he speaks, there's an ornate border. When he's thinking that border is gone.
One of the trickiest panels was the throne room panel. This is the first time any scenery is shown and it is a stark difference. But it was important because the location she wakes up in is important to establish.
As the pages stand today. Need to make them link better.
Comics that I read
A form of research is probably the web comics I read weekly. There are a lot of them, but I'll list the ones that best emulate the kind of comic I've created.

To create these final images, the A6 drafts were scanned at a high dpi and blown up to A4 size. The opacity was lowered and they were printed to use as templates to draw over.
Page 6 did not work in a larger size, so it was shrunk and added to the then-page 7.
I've included panel redraws for pages 3 and 6/7 to display the difference.
Two different line widths are being used to portray the difference between the mortal girl and the immortal man.
Comic - Drafts 1&2
An A6-sized, 12-page booklet was mocked up to plot the pages. There were originally 16 pages planned, however as the pages were drawn, the layouts naturally changed. Panels were moved, added and the end of the original story was cut.
Assignment 2 - Concept
The concept for Assignment Two's story came in the form of lyrics. It was the style of Matryoshka's film clip that was initially attractive, and the goal (at this stage) is to replicate the aesthetics of the film clip. With that intention in mind, the translated lyrics were read in the hopes of extracting a story from them. The current narrative comes from these sections of lyrics:
"A package sung from a headache,
Time may pass but the hands are at 4
Don't tell anyone;
The world will turn upside down"
"Ah, I feel broken apart
Throw out all your memories too,
Ah, how I want to know,
To the deep down..."
"Clap your hands, not entirely childish,
And watch, to this purposefully-crazed tune
Certainly, I don't care either way
The warmth of the world is melting away"
"You and me, rendezvous?
Rendezvous? Rendezvous?
Oh, or out on a hopping adventure?"
The story that these lyrics, along with the music itself, told of a regular girl brought into a different, crazed reality in an (to make a tired comparison) Alice-in-Wonderland scenario. There she would be tossed around to the whims of a mirror-like fairy girl and come back changed, with colours in her eyes.
This concept was difficult to translate into a proper narrative, especially with "sound" being an important factor of the assignment.
The next fairy scenario considered was one based in folklore. Sometimes fairies would take children, or men or women (the latter for lovers) against their will, never to return. So the girl's captor became a fairy king, who had sent a bottle into the mortal realm waiting to be found by a suitable female. When the girl finds the bottle, she triggers it and a portal is opened, sweeping her away to his kingdom.
In this first draft, the girl is saved from her seduction by the mirror-fairy in the first concept. The frame limitations caused this ending to be scrapped and as of chapter's end, the girl is trapped with him forever. Perhaps she is saved in the sequel?
The elfin knight stands on yon hill He blows his horn both loud and shrill He stands so proud and he stands so still
Blow winds blow my bonnie o Blow winds blow my bonnie Blow winds blow my bonnie o Blow winds blow my bonnie If I had the knight that stands on yon mound My true love then surely I have found Down to the church then soon we will be bound
Blow winds blow my bonnie o Blow winds blow my bonnie Blow winds blow my bonnie o Blow winds blow my bonnie He'll make me a dress with seams of fine thread Make me a garland of flowers for my head Down to the church then away we'll go to bed
Blow winds blow my bonnie o Blow winds blow my bonnie Blow winds blow my bonnie o Blow winds blow my bonnie The elfin knight stands on yon hill Blowin' his horn both loud and shrill He stands so proud and he stands so still
Blow winds blow my bonnie o Blow winds blow my bonnie Blow winds blow my bonnie o Blow winds blow my bonnie Blow winds blow my bonnie o Blow winds blow my bonnie
The Elfin Knight

Where dips the rocky highland
Of Sleuth Wood in the lake
There lies a leafy island
Where flapping herons wake
The drowsy water-rats
There we've hid our faery vats
Full of berries
And of reddest stolen cherries
[Chorus:]
Come away, O human child
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand
For the world's more full of weeping
Than you can understand.
Where the wave of moonlight glosses
The dim grey sands with light
By far off furthest Rosses
We foot it all the night
Weaving olden dances
Mingling hands and mingling glances
Till the moon has taken flight
To and fro we leap
And chase the frothy bubbles
Whilst the world is full of troubles
And is anxious in its sleep.
[Chorus]
Where the wandering water gushes
From the hills above Glen-Car
In pools among the rushes
That scarce could bathe a star
We seek for slumbering trout
And whispering in their ears
Give them unquiet dreams
Leaning softly out
From ferns that drop their tears
Over the young streams
[Chorus]
Away with us he's going
The solemn-eyed
He'll hear no more the lowing
Of the calves on the warm hillside
Or the kettle on the hob
Sing peace into his breast
Or see the brown mice bob
Round and round the oatmeal chest.
[Chorus]
For he comes, the human child
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand
For the world's more full of weeping
Than you can understand.

Today again a beautiful woman
comes to see me
That smiling you will become my new wife
A forbidden deal with the devil,
this power placed in my hands
All the women that look at me
fall enchanted
----
(Megurine Luka - Chorus)
With the power to charm women
(Hatsune Miku - Chorus)
The man, to the basement of the mansion where he lives alone
(Megurine Luka - Chorus)
Brings one by one the women he likes
(Hatsune Miku - Chorus)
Building up his harem
(Chorus)
The taste of libido that hid poison
the pleasure of the blade that cut
Blood and sweat mixed together
turn before long into drops of purple
Once the clothes come off
there's no return to reality
----
My old portraits were burned;
I abandoned my past self
I want to forget that face
that everyone laughed at and ridiculed
I kiss a lovely girl
as I pull her into an embrace
She was the childhood friend
that had made a fool out of me
----
(GUMI - Chorus)
From a certain day on, the woman from all over the country
(MEIKO - Chorus)
One by one, they become lost without notice
(GUMI - Chorus)
Some lost their wives; some lost their daughters
(MEIKO - Chorus)
And didn't know what to do
(Chorus)
The tone of libido dyed in darkness;
an infinite passion without stop
Illusions, the understanding of everything;
I am no longer a person
Doing depravities in the defiance of God
this is the night of madness I wished for
----
Today again a beautiful lady
comes to me
Come into my embrace,
let's dance in my harem
After you approach me,
I hold you close with a smile; in that instant
Suddenly there is a sharp pain
and blood dyes my chest
A young person that searched for a lost love
Found out her whereabouts: the mansion where the devil dwelled
The young man disguised as a woman approached the devil
And stabbed him in the chest with a blade
----
(Chorus)
Pierced by a blade that hid poison,
I collapsed in that place
Blood and sweat mixed together
are turned before long into drops of purple
My arts broken,
the women all came to their senses and fled the mansion
The last one that left the mansion
looked at me for just a second
It was my childhood friend... Wait!
I haven't told you yet that I love you

One, two, three, four!
A message I've thought much too much about,
Maybe it'll reach somebody, who can say?
Certainly, I've always been this way,
A patched up, crazy matryoshka
A package sung from a headache
Time may pass, but the hands are at 4
Don't tell anyone;
The world will turn upside down
Ah, I feel broken apart
Throw out all your memories, too
Ah, how I want to know,
To the deep down...
Um, well...
If you please, dance more and more
Kalinka? Malinka?
Just play the chord
What should I do about such feelings?
Can't you tell me? Just a little?
Loud and clear, 524
Freud? Keloid?
Just hit the key
Everything, all's to be laughed at
Hurry, dance, with all your foolishness
Clap your hands, not entirely childish,
And watch, to this purposefully-crazed tune
Certainly, I don't care either way
The warmth of the world is melting away
You and me, rendezvous? Rendezvous? Rendezvous?
Oh, or out on a hopping adventure?
With a crooked gait, one-two, one-two
Ah, I'm ready to burst out;
Catch every part of me
Ah, with both your hands,
Catch me for me
Um, well...
Listen a little - it's something important
Kalinka? Malinka?
Just pinch my cheek
It's just that I can't control myself
Should we do more fantastic things?
Pain, hurt, but no, don't cry
Parade? Marade?
Just clap some more
Wait, you say, wait, wait
Before we drop to just one...
You and me, rendezvous?
Rendezvous? Rendezvous?
Oh, or out on a hopping adventure?
With a crooked gait, one-two, one-two
Down with a sickness?
Show me your song!
See how today...
I'm still a patched up, crazy matryoshka!
If you please, dance more and more
Kalinka? Malinka?
Just play the chord
What should I do about such feelings?
Can't you tell me? Just a little?
Loud and clear, 524
Freud? Keloid?
Just hit the key
Everything, all's to be laughed at
Hurry, and dance no longer!
Smooch, smooch...
