I’m Colette, nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you too.
Sketches? Like drawings?
Enjoying life down here on the ground, man.
Yes. How's that treating you?
Don’t worry about it. I didn’t see you either.
Okay...
Hi, it’s okay I wasn’t exactly going for being noticed.
How are you, Scout?
I filled the entire school hallways with water filled ups. It was a bitch to complete and a bitch to get out of. But I did it. I’m still impressed with my work.
Not bad.
Oh, I didn’t see you either. It’s alright.
Um, I'm Jace.
What are you doing up there?
Getting a good view for some sketches.
What are you doing?
Oh, hi. sorry...I didn't see you there.
I’ve just finished my best prank yet. I cannot wait to see the looks on everyones faces at school. They are in for one hell of a surprise.
What did you do?
Break the Silence | Lilly & Jace
"What does it look like I’m doing?" she snarked, before she really bothered to take a look at him. She paused, her piercing green eyes sweeping him from head to toe. She was apparently sizing him up, because her head tilted, and a smirk came back to her lips. He was cute, not too threatening. She doubted he’d get her into trouble, anyway.
"I’m making more work for that boyfriend-stealing bitch, Sara." It was probably more honest she’d been with anyone in a while. She tossed all that blonde hair over her shoulder and continued down the aisle toward him, knocking books off the shelf as she went. She glanced back to survey her work. It looked like a tornado had gone through, books scattered with their covers and pages twisted in every which direction.
She smiled, satisfied. Lilly had to admit, it got old pretty quickly though. She was already ready to move on to something different. But that didn’t mean she couldn’t play with him a little first, assuming he cared about books at all. “Unless you have a better idea.” She raised an eyebrow, turning a corner and beginning her wave of destruction in a new aisle. She knocked books off the shelves one at a time, like she had all the time in the world. And, well, she pretty much did.
"Boyfriend-stealing bitch Sara?" he echoed with a small chuckle. "Why take it out on the books?" he asked, bending down to put a couple back on the shelf. "Surely you can come up with something better to pass your time, yeah?" He followed behind her, picking up a couple more books along the way. When she continued, he moved around and went in front of her instead. "Okay, let me sketch you," he said, trying a different approach, an eyebrow arching as he watched her. "What do you say?" She was very pretty, so she'd make a great subject for a sketch and maybe it would distract her enough to stop her from her book destruction.
A little while. Enough to say I’m not new, but not long enough to say a while either.
I see.
So, have you been around here long?
Not too long, no. You?
Yes, that does sound like an 80’s sitcom. Probably because of Mork and Mindy.
It’s nice to met you Lawrence.
You as well, Lucy.
Bartender....another, please.
Fuck off. You’re in my way.
Is that the proper way to ask?
Break the Silence | Lilly & Open
Lilly was walking along a row of shelves in the library, systematically shoving books onto the floor. Not all of them, just enough to make it a pain in the ass for the librarians to have to put them back. She was in a petulant mood, and she was willing to make Sara’s life as difficult as possible— just because she had one. And she had Adam. It wasn’t fair at all.
Thunk. Thunk. A mean smile twisted her lips as each one hit the floor. It wasn’t like she could get in trouble for it. Being dead had its perks that way. All she had to do was duck around into another row and disappear. Judging by her amused expression, getting caught was part of the appeal. She did love rattling cages, and no cage was worse than the one she’d been put in. Trapped in purgatory for twelve hours a day with the boy she loved, who would never love her back? Yeah. It had pushed Lilly just a little bit over the edge. Vandalizing the library was just the mild part of it.
It wasn’t until she was halfway down the row that she was aware of someone else standing at the end of it. She raised an eyebrow. “What?” She smirked, deliberately pushing another book off the shelf. Thunk. It landed, splayed in front of her feet. It was petty, but then, so was Lilly. It got awfully boring being dead, and a girl had to make her own fun in that town.
Jace had been going through the town newspapers for the week, making sure nothing had been printed that might lead to clues as to where his brother was. Holden still hadn't turned up, but the hope in Jace's heart wasn't extinguished. He saw way the cops and detectives looked at him when he came into the station and he heard the tone they used when they spoke with him on the phone. They thought Holden was....was dead....but Jace knew better. He knew better than to just let go and give up. Holden wouldn't leave him behind. Holden would never do that to him.
When he'd discovered absolutely nothing, he put the newspapers back and sat at a table, placing his sketchpad open in front of him. Might as well use t he peace and quiet of the library to get some silent emotion out onto a page. He snatched the pencil from behind his ear and began to sketch.
Thump.
He blinked and looked up. Thump. Thump. He frowned and stood, tucking the pencil back in its spot and putting the pad under his arm. He followed the noise. His eyebrow arched when he saw a girl shoving books out onto the floor. "What are you doing?" he asked, curiously when she noticed his presence at the end of the row.
Nice to meet you too, Jace. If you ever have any blood drawing needs you now have a connection.
I'll keep that in mind, thanks.
