Into The Woods Experience
WOW!!! What a responsibility it was doing this show! it was incredibly fun and so fast! this show was really a great opportunity for me to learn about wig changes and styling, costume changes, and how through the course of the show the makeup changes! Handling the wigs as much as we did really provided a chance for us to be apart of the whole process, and when i did some of the touching up i was able to see how Erica constructed some of the wigs and really expanded my knowledge about them!
TOUCH UPS: So much fun doing this!!!! I started by pinning down all the lace fronts and wetting them to help maintain flipping of the lace. Then i brushed out/restyled and used a lot of hairspray and detangler to get all the frizziness out! Some of the wigs i had to deconstruct completely and rebuild them, that was awesome! there were also times that it had to be done in a matter of minutes! After this experience it really made my passion for wigs expand and really opened my eyes to the potential any wig has!
COSTUME CHANGES: well these either went really well and smooth or terribly wrong. but what can you do but try to fix it when the actor comes off stage again lol, and talk about stress! working with the costume team was like a science, having to figure out the right time to do the wig change and the costume change.
MAKEUP CHANGES: i think through the course of the show we were figuring out looks that did and didn't work. we would have one artist work on a particular actor and would modify the schematic but it would turn out great! throughout the run of the show we did change the over look of some of the actors to reflect there character better and to fit whatever actions may happen on stage(kissing scene for example). Also some looks just weren't coming out well under the stage lights. having to adjust was pretty easy. its all trial and error and a great learning experience for everyone i think. The fact that we were having to fill in for other people too and switch often was a cool experience and definitely was able to build some confidence within the Makeup 1 Artist!
